Vrr vrr

My phone vibrates, waking me up from my… Sleep? I really dont get much sleep anymore. Nightmares are a bitch. Partially the reason I wore oblivious makeup, to cover up the giant grey rings around my eyes. I pick up my phone to look at my notifications, which their were more than just a few. I go through the notifications from my insta and snaps, then my messenger.

I look, and I got a message from makayla, its a picture. I open it and it says one thing along with the pic.

MayKay
YOU WERE WRONG!!!

What the hell does that mean? What did I do? I go to look at the picture.

Mystery boy…

Hi.

Hey, is this ken?

No, this is makayla, the note was for me, right?

No, it was for him. Why did he think that.

Hold on please.

That note was for me?! Wouldve never thought. I just respond with a hehe to her and put my phone on my bed. Huuuuuh… He was definitely hot, and my type, but id rather stay alone. Look at me, jumping to conclusions like a skydiver. He probably just wants to be friends.

I hopped out of my pillow and blanket ridden bed and walk to the kitchen. I dont feel like cooking something complex so i look through my cabinets. Hmmm…
Ramen it is. I crushed it and threw it in a bowl and put it in the microwave for 3 minutes. I decided to text the boy

I jumped onto my couch and pulled my phone out of my pocket. I texted him hey boi, dis ken and threw my phone phone on the table, cuz it was maybe 10 minutes after 7 and i wouldnt think he would be awake. I got up to walk to the-

Vrr vrr.

Oh. Okay.

I picked it up and saw the number of the mystery boy. he responded with hey. Casual child. I pulled my ramen out of the microwave and went outside to the patio out back. I started talking to him

Wyd?

Nm just woke up.

Cool. Whyd you want to talk to me?

Idk, you just seem like a cool person.

Cool.

I tried to eat my ramen, but he replied so fast i couldnt do anything. But i ate between texts, and enjoyed his talk.

It was now seven thirty, and I had nothing to do. I started thinking of things to do. Whats a passion project i could do…

Hey! I could start a freaking garden. Why not!

I ran to the garage and started looking around. The only thing we had was fertilizer. Might as well go to the store and buy some gardening stuff.

I went into my room, threw on some monochromatic leggings and a black dress, cuz why tf not, my hair made me look like a girl. It was only abit past my shoulders, but the longest its ever been, and the sides cut really short. I stuck on some black combat boots and stuck my hair in a ponytail and grabbed a fifty and stuck it in my dress pocket.

Finally, I took my skateboard out of the garage and started to head towards town. I always got a few looks from people when I went outside, but I could care less. I didnt care what they thought of me, i just did what i wanted. No, i didnt obey my parents and get refferals all the time. My mother said to always be yourself, and my dad felt the same. And with my schooling, I was an average student with no refferals.

I got to the store just as it opened, which an old lady, around her sixties, opened up shop. I watched as she set up the cash register and she smiled at me. I smiled back at her and started walking down the isle to look for a theme in the garden. In the back i saw a bamboo hat and thought of it for a second, and I saw it.

Japanese garden.

Just as i lightly picked up the hat to try put it on my head, i felt a light tap on my shoulder, which scared me. I turned around quickly and saw it was the old woman. “Oh, hi!” I told her with a light smile, setting the hat on my head. You could tell she was in her 70’s, and had a light beige tint to her, so I suspected she was Asian.

“You know, the coolie hat started up in veitnam in the 1400’s.” she said softly. “Really?” I asked her obliviously. “Hah, no. I dont know nothing about that hat, but to be bashful, you look like that hat was made for you.” she said to me, which made me smile. I havent had a complement from anybody over 30 in 5 years. “Well thank you very much. I want to start a garden, but i wasnt sure on my theme. But i think im gonna do it a japanese theme.”

“Well, I if your going for an iconic japanese look, id always suggest bamboos and roses. Oh, and your gonna need a cherry blossom tree, its essential to any japanese look!” she said as she started walking fast. She looked back and signaled for me to follow her, so I did. She sped through the little isles and out a backdoor I didnt notice. I followed her through the door and into a menagerie. I walked around, surrounded by scents of the flowers. She turned a corner and exclaimed, “Here it is!”.

It was a little baby cherry tree in a pot, no buds and just a couple of leaves. “Now I will tell you one thing about this tree. It might not look like much, and it will take a long time to grow. But this thing can fill you with hope.” she said as she handed to me. I took it and we picked out a few seed packets and some flower food and headed to the cash register. It rung up to 47.89 and I pulled out my fifty. “Now where is a young’n like you get money like this?” she asked me, making me chuckle. “I book gigs at bars and places with my friends, and we make alot off of it.” I told her simply. “Well then I can tell your going places!” she said with a smile and I said goodbye and started my walk home.
