Domingo’s POV
Moving in with Charlie however inevitable was still thrilling, planning each step and going to view properties together made me impatient and I couldn’t wait to live with him alone. I tried to keep myself reigned in and allowed Charlie the time to bounce around in excitement, smiling in encouragement but not joining in. If I joined in then there would be no calming him down he would go crazy and unrealistic ideas would start coming from his mouth.
Within a few weeks we were living alone together and we were both working our new jobs, Charlie worked long hours at the hospital. I missed him a lot but I know how much this job means to him and I am sure to get used to his absence after a while. To help me do that I joined Lucas and put my all into my teaching and before I knew it I absolutely loved my job and my kids.
I put all of my creativity into my lessons so that they all found it fun, learning in this type of way makes the children develop a certain respect for me and it makes my life easier. In the staff room all of the more experienced teachers had mixed opinions about my methods, some believed it was a school and I shouldn’t treat the kids as friends. Others, especially those more prone to getting the naughty kids, were asking for tips on how to keep them settled and engaged.
My work kept me busy enough to not miss Charlie as much and when we were reunited on an evening I pulled him into my arms to kiss him deeply. I love him so much and this is how I want to spend my life, a good job and I want to come home to my Charlie every night.
Hmmm my Charlie? Doesn’t quite sound right…
I needed to speak to Lucas and Elliot because I need their advice but Elliot was not due home for another week, so in the meantime I continued with work and loving Charlie.
On the night of Elliot’s homecoming his mother insisted on a party for him, she still couldn’t understand that this was the last thing that Elliot would want. I allowed him an hour or so to go through the pleasantries then I pulled him aside to discuss my plan with him.
“Hey Elliot welcome home bro, back for good this time right?” I smiled.
“Yeah come here.” He smiled pulling me in for a hug.
As we talked Lucas came in as I had asked him to, I noticed he still avoided Elliot’s eyes and I surmised that they must not have had a chance to talk to each other yet. Unfortunately I was too excited to share my idea to allow them to wander off and discuss their relationship now, as selfish as it sounds they have waited this long a few more minutes more wouldn’t hurt.
“Lucas did you distract Charlie like I asked?” I questioned.
“Yes I asked my mom to talk to him about work, he’s blabbering on now as we speak and he will no doubt be there a while. So what did you want to talk to us about?” He replied and I took a deep breath.
“I love Charlie.”
“We know that Dom is that all you wanted to say?” Lucas asked confused.
“Well… no I wanted to ask you for your help.” I replied.
“Help with what?” Elliot asked.
“Well I….” I hesitated was it too soon? “I want to ask Charlie to marry me. We have been together a long time but we are still young, do you think I am moving too fast?”
I stood and watched them as their mouths hung open in shock and I was becoming increasingly worried that maybe I was moving too fast. Charlie and I had just moved in together and although we had been going out for nearly four years we had no idea how we would cope being alone so much. I knew I couldn’t be without him, I would walk the line with him forever as long as he could promise me that he would be there.
“Well?” I asked nervously snapping them out of their trances.
“Charlie is going to be a nightmare.” Elliot laughed confusing me, “He will be a total bridezilla.”
“No he won’t but he will be so excited that we won’t hear the end of it even after they are married.” Lucas laughed too.
“So you guys think I should do this, I should really ask him to marry me. It’s not too soon?” I asked to make sure.
“No you guys have been together forever before and after dating your made for each other, go for it.” Lucas smiled.
“Yeah I couldn’t think of anyone better to make an honest man out of my baby brother.” Elliot beamed.
“Thanks guys no how do I do it? I don’t want it to be clichéd.” I asked.
We spent the next ten minutes discussing options but couldn’t come up with anything, then I heard Charlie coming into the kitchen so we quickly agreed to meet for coffee to continue. Then they walked out of the kitchen just as Charlie walked in looking confused at their sudden departure. I walked over to him and wrapped my arms around his waist, kissing him on the temple at the same time.
“How was work today?” I asked him.
“Er it was great you know the usual I have been learning the ropes from Dr Finkle, meeting patients and stuff.” He blushed.
“Ok do you get along with him is he treating you ok?” I asked a little confused by his behaviour.
“Yes it’s just well….urgh I am just going to tell you. He is hot Dom, you should come in and see him one time I mean he’s like so nice! But don’t worry I love you I wouldn’t do anything.” He said very quickly.
“Charlie don’t worry I know you wouldn’t but just in case maybe I should come and show your boss who is boss?” I laughed.
He seemed to exhale at that, had he really been worried about this? I wonder what this guy looks like and if he really is straight, I mean I can trust Charlie not to do anything but can I trust this Dr Finkle to leave Charlie alone?
It will be fine Charlie can handle himself and soon I will be asking him to marry me and if he says yes then that will show Dr Finkle that he is taken completely. Now I just need to figure out how to do it?
