{A/N: I just wanted to let y’all know that Robbie Rotten (the villain from Lazy Town) passed away while I was writing this. Update: apparently not??? :'( OH and I know the pictures don’t match the ages mentioned but just assume they look like that}
Harry Styles is dumb. No, not stupid. He can’t speak. No, he’s not just mute. He was born without the ability to talk. If he could talk, he would. The first thing he would say is that he has a huge crush on his best friend, Louis Tomlinson. Wait, no. He would say ‘I am flirting with you, you idiot!’ Louis talks to Harry all the time, and Harry answers him, usually flirting. Louis, however, doesn’t understand, mostly because his anxiety causes him to second guess himself. Louis thinks he likes Harry, but how can he be sure!?

*Third Person*
“Hey, Harry, wake up.” Louis shakes Harry gently, probably not realizing that he is naked under the covers. Harry rolls over at looks at Louis. He taps his wrist twice, asking for the time. “It’s half seven.”
‘Why did you wake me up so early?’ Harry signs. Louis smiles and grabs Harry’s left hand. If only he knew how that made the younger boy’s stomach flip and his heart flutter.
“We’re spending the day together. You and me. All day.”
Luckily, Harry only needs one hand to sign his next question. ‘We are?’ This isn’t meant to be a sassy question. Harry is really excited to spend a whole day with Louis. Maybe Louis would finally understand that Harry is flirting with him.
“Yes, we are. Now get up and get ready. We’ve got places to go and things to do.” Harry quickly signs the letters ‘O’ and ‘K’, but he doesn’t make an effort to move, considering the situation. “Well what are you waiting for?”
‘I am currently naked.’ This causes Louis to blush and Harry thinks he looks so beautiful. ‘You’re cute.’ Harry smiles. Louis laughs.
“I’ll wait in the living room then.” And with that, Louis walks out of the room. Harry would probably never admit that he really wanted Louis to stay with him; maybe to see if Louis would have a… reaction, if you know what Harry’s means.
Nonetheless, Harry gets out of his comfy bed, at a time no person should be awake at, and walks over to his dresser. Since it is quite chilly outside this morning, he decides on a dark grey jumper and black skinny jeans. He also picks out a clean pair of black boxer briefs and black socks. Harry dresses himself then walks down the hall to the bathroom where he does his ‘business’, brushes his teeth, and finally fixes his hair.
When Harry is sure he is 100% presentable, he exits the bathroom. Harry remembered that Louis was wearing a white t-shirt. If they were going to be out all day, Louis will most likely get cold and Harry will bet all the money in the world that Louis did not bring a coat with him. Harry grabs a sweatshirt out of his dresser and makes his way to the living room.
He finds Louis standing there, his back facing Harry. Harry walks up behind him and wraps his arms around Louis’ middle and rests his chin of Louis’ left shoulder. Louis jumped a bit, startled by Harry’s sudden appearance. If it was anyone else, Louis would have freaked out and probably would have slipped into an anxiety attack.
“You scared me, Harry.” Louis leans into him. Harry takes his right hand and signs ‘sorry’ on Louis’ chest. Louis turns around in Harry’s arms and looks at him. Harry loves that he can do this with Louis; that he can have his arms around Louis and he doesn’t panic, most of the time. “It’s fine.”
‘Your eyes are pretty.’ Louis smiles as he goes up on his toes and wraps his arms around Harry’s neck, hugging him. He releases his grip after about thirty seconds.
“We should get going now.” Louis takes Harry’s hands from behind him and guides the taller boy out the door and onto his car.
They drive for about ten minutes until they reach a small breakfast bar.
‘I love this place.’ Harry signs with a huge smile on his face. Louis chuckled at Harry’s excitement.
“I know. That’s why I picked it.” Harry takes Louis left hand into his right and uses his available hand to sign ‘You’re amazing.’
“Let’s go eat. We’ve got a long day ahead of us.” Louis smiles. They exit the car walk into the breakfast bar which, luckily for Louis, was empty except for the two waitresses and an elderly couple sitting at the other end of the bar.
The two boys sit at the stools closest to the door. Louis likes to have an easy escape route in case of an anxiety attack. They look over the menus that one of the waitresses had placed in front of them.
“Is there anything I can get you boys to drink?” The waitress asks sweetly; almost a little too sweet for eight o’clock in the morning. Louis looks at Harry who holds up three fingers, forming the letter ‘W’.
“We’ll both have waters please.” But did Louis really want water? Or did he want orange juice? Oh well too late now.
“And do you know what you want to order, or do you need a few minutes?”
“A few minutes please.” Louis gives the lady a kind smile, which she returns.
“Take all the time you need. I’ll be right back with your waters.” She walks away for a couple minutes and returns with two cups of water as well as two straws. “I’ll be back in a few minutes to take your orders.” She walks off to help the mother and daughter that had just walked in. While looking at the menu, Louis subconsciously reaches for Harry’s hand and laces their fingers together.
“What are you thinking of getting?” Louis asks. He looks over as Harry points the meal he wants. Two eggs, two pancakes, and two pieces of French toast. “I was thinking of getting the same thing.” No he wasn’t.
‘Great minds think alike.’ Harry grins. He notices the waitress was walking back to them. Harry slowly takes his hand from Louis’. It’s not that he doesn’t want to hold Louis’ hand. It just… he doesn’t want other people to think they’re in a relationship when they’re not, despite how much Harry wants them to be.
“Do you two know what you want?” Louis tells the woman their orders and she walks away.
‘Thank you for bringing me here.’
“It’s no problem, Harry. Don’t forget I’ve got more plans for today.” Louis winks and Harry just about dies from the beat his heart skips.
‘How could I forget?’
**
For the next hour, Louis watched as Harry told him various stories about this breakfast bar. After the two boys finished their meals, Louis payed after a solid five minutes of them fighting over who was paying. Louis won by claiming that it was his idea and therefore he should pay for it. He also stated that he would be paying for everything for the rest of the day.
‘I need to use the loo before we go.’ Louis nods and watches Harry as he walks to the restroom in the back. Louis notices the one of the waitress looking at him. It wasn’t the one that served them. She walks over to him. Her name tag says Ivy.
“What’s your relationship with Harry?” She asks bluntly.
“We’re best friends. Why?” Louis questioned back.
“He has never brought anyone here who wasn’t extremely close to him. This place is very special for him, so obviously you two are more than friends.” This causes Louis to look down.
“You think he likes me? Like, like likes me?”
“In all honesty, I thought you two were here as a honeymoon breakfast or something like that. But he is only 19 so I wasn’t really sure. That’s why I had to ask.” She shrugged. Louis’ heart was pounding. He knew he had to calm down before Harry returned. “How old are you?”
“21. 22 in December.” Louis answers quietly.
“What are your intentions with Harry?”
“Well today it’s just to figure out my feelings for him.” Louis runs his fingers through his hair. “I just don’t know how.”
“Kiss him.”
“What?”
“Kiss him. You know put your lips on his lips and move ’em aro-” Louis cuts her off.
“Yes I know what kissing is, but how do you know that that will help me figure out my feelings?” The waitress scoffs and looks behind her shoulder. Harry is walking back from the restroom.
“Just try it.” And with that, she walks away.
‘Ready to go?’ Harry signs. Louis nods and stands up. They walk out of breakfast bar and into the parking lot.
“Harry,” Louis says when they reach his car. “I need help making a decision.”
‘What are the choices?’ Harry is use to helping Louis with choosing things.
“Just pick: yes or no.” Harry signs ‘yes’. “Okay.” Louis stands right in front of taller boy.
It’s now or never.
He goes on his toes and connects his lips with Harry’s. Harry almost instantly kisses back, but as soon as their lips touch, Louis pulls away just as quick. “Oh my god. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have done that.” It’s not that Louis didn’t like the kiss, he loved it, but he did fear that Harry didn’t like it. “I don’t even- I didn’t ask. I should have asked. Harry, I’m sorry. And now you h-” Harry leans down to kiss Louis again. The two kiss slowly, as if they were testing each other out.
Suddenly, Harry realizes that they were in public and people probably didn’t want to see two people making out in the middle of a parking lot at nine o’clock in the morning. Harry pulled back just enough to disconnect their lips, but stayed close enough to feel Louis’ breath against his mouth. Harry kisses Louis one more time before wrapping his arms around Louis’ shoulders and holds him close.
So much has just happened. It was all good things. Louis figured out his feelings, just like the waitress said, and he found out that Harry likes him. Louis’ head hurts. He can’t breathe.
“Harry.” Louis gasps. Harry immediately backs away from Louis. He knows that Louis is starting to have an anxiety attack.
Harry always feels so useless in these situations. He can’t talk, so he can’t comfort Louis, and he can’t touch him, it just makes everything worse (Harry learned that the hard way).
“I’m sorry.”
‘It’s alright. Don’t worry.’ Harry signs. He tries to make the most reassuring facial expression possible.
“Thanks.” Louis feels his body relaxing.
‘Come here.’ Harry opens his arms. With a small smile playing on his face, Louis leans into Harry and wraps his right arm around his waist. Harry drapes his arm on Louis’ shoulder and presses a light kiss to Louis’ forehead.
“As much as I would like to stand like this all day, we have to get going.” Harry nods.
Louis walks them to the passenger side and opens the door for Harry. He closes the door when Harry gets in. Louis walks around to the drivers side, gets in, and starts the car. “Off we go.” Louis pulls out of the parking lot and onto the main road.
After a few minutes of driving Louis reaches over and places his hand on Harry’s leg, just above his knee.
“So,” Louis started. “One of the waitress, Ivy, came over to me. She, um, asked what my relationship was with you.” He stops at a red light and looks at Harry.
‘What did you tell her?’
“Well, I told her that we’re best friends and she explained to me that you only bring special people to there.” The light changes to green and Louis resumes driving. “I didn’t tell her it was my idea to bring you there. I figured that you didn’t stop me from going inside because you consider me special enough to have me in there.” Louis pauses as he tries figure out how to phrase his next sentence. “I like you, Harry.” He blurts. Louis turns into the parking lot of his favorite tattoo parlor. “And now that we’ve gone somewhere that’s special to you, I thought that we could go somewhere that’s special for me.”
‘I like you, too.’ Both lads were smiling larger than they ever thought possible. ‘I’ve been flirting with you for about two years now.’
“Aw, I’m sorry. I should have noticed.” Harry takes Louis’ hand, which was still resting on leg.
‘It’s fine. Let’s go.’
~one and a half hours later~
‘Can I see it now?’ Harry asks when the pair get back in the car.
“Of course.” Louis slowly pulls off the bandage covering his new tattoo. It’s a simple one that made it’s way into the collection of tattoos on Louis’ right forearm.
“Do you like it?” Harry nods his head. He kisses the side of Louis’ head. “Good.” Louis smiles as he carefully covers his tattoo again and starts the car.
‘I love your smile.’
“Can I kiss you?” Harry nods eagerly. Louis grins as he runs his fingers through Harry’s hair before leaning to giving him two long kisses and pulling away.
**
Over the course of the next few hours, the two boys drive all around town. They stop at various places (none were important enough for the author to include). They went to a beach and asked a random stranger to take a picture of them.
Louis is pretty sure that Harry is going to want to frame it. Harry asked Louis if he could sleep at his place because he’s ‘just not ready for the day to end.’ Of course Louis couldn’t say no to a request like that. Now, because actions had gotten the better of them, they were in Louis’ car with Harry in the passenger seat and Louis straddling him as they made out. It was slow. Louis had his hands tangled in Harry’s hair. Harry lets his hand roam Louis’ body. Their tongues occasionally brushed against each other’s; and each time it happened, both boys felt fireworks go off. Louis pulls away when he hears Harry’s phone go off for the third time.
“I think you should answer that before whoever that is tracks you down.” Louis laughs. Harry reaches into his pocket to take out his phone. He quickly types back a reply then puts his phone in Louis’ pocket, mostly as an excuse to touch his bum. “We should go inside.” Harry nods. Neither one makes any effort to move. They just stare at each other for a solid minute until Harry blinks and Louis cheers. “I win!” Louis presses a quick kiss to Harry’s forehead then makes his way out of the car. Harry climbs out after him and shuts the car door. The shorter lad wraps his arm the other’s waist and guides him into the apartment building.
‘Is your roommate home?’ Harry asks when they walk into the lift.
“Um, yeah. I think so.”
‘He hates me.’
“I’m sure he doesn’t hate you.” Louis reassures. He notices that Harry lifts his eyebrows and rolls his eyes. “Hey,” Louis places his hand on Harry’s cheek to make Harry look at him. “At least I don’t hate you.” Harry smiles slightly and leans into Louis’ touch.
The doors of the life open and the pair walk out and down hallway to Louis’ door. Louis takes his keys out and opens the door. Harry grabs Louis’ hand nervously when he hears the roommate call out Louis’ name from the living room while they were taking off their shoes.
“Is that you, mate?”
“Yeah, Zayn. Who else would it be.” Louis calls back. He has to drag Harry to the living room.
“Oh. Hey, Harry.” Zayn says awkwardly. Harry waves back. “So I was about order some pizza. Do you guys want anything?”
“No thanks, man. We just ate. We’re just gonna hang out in my room. See ya later.” Louis guides Harry to his room, closing the door behind them.
The blue-eyed bloke wrapped his arms around the other’s waist. Harry drapes his arms around Louis’ shoulders and pulled himself closer. Louis holds Harry as tight as he possibly can, but not too tight because Harry needs to breathe, obviously.
“I wish I could hold you forever.” Louis says quietly. “But I can’t breathe.”
‘I’m sorry.’ Harry signs when he steps away. Louis shakes his head at him.
“It’s not you, Harry.” Louis sits at the foot of his bed. He takes a few deep breaths before looking up and nothing the pained expression on Harry’s face as he rubs his arm. “Are you okay?”
‘My arms hurts from signing. Happens everyday.’
“Come here.” Louis pats the space next to him. Harry sits. “Okay, um. Take your sweater off.” While Harry does this Louis walks across the room and grabs a bottle of lotion and brings it back to the bed.
Louis’ heart flutters when he sees Harry. It wasn’t the first time he’s seen the boy without a shirt on, but it was the first time in a long time. And things were different now.
Harry waves his hand in front of Louis’ face, trying to get his attention. Louis didn’t realize he was staring and Harry’s body.
“S-sorry. I was-I didn’t… Sorry.” Louis feels his cheeks heat up quickly. Harry reaches up for Louis. Louis sits back down next to the shirtless boy. Harry leans in and connects their lips slowly. Their lips part after a few seconds. They stare at each other for a while before Louis remembers what he was doing.
He moves so that he’s sitting behind Harry, but a little further back. Louis opens his legs and tells Harry to move back into the space between his legs. Once they are both comfortable, Louis takes the lotion, squirts some into his hand, and begins massaging it into Harry’s upper right arm. He slowly makes his way down Harry’s arm, getting more lotion when needed. Louis took his time with Harry’s hand.
“Is this helping?” Louis asks. Harry nods instantly. Louis hums and repeats his actions on Harry’s left arm. Once he finishes, he moves on to massaging Harry’s shoulders and neck. Harry leans back against Louis and tilts his head back on Louis’ shoulder.
‘Thank you.’ Harry smiles. Louis wraps his arms around Harry’s waist and kisses his cheek. ‘I’m cold’ Harry signs after several minutes. Louis moves his arms away and tells Harry to sit up so he can take off the sweatshirt Harry had given him. He gives it to Harry who puts it on.
“Wanna lay down?” Louis offers. Harry, once again, leans into Louis but is surprised when Louis kept leaning back when Harry got close to him. Louis laughed when they were both laying flat on the bed, well it was more like he was laying on the bed and Harry was sprawled out on him. “You’re smothering me, love.” Louis chuckles.
Harry rolls off to Louis’ left side, being careful to not touch him because he may be having another anxiety attack. His thoughts were quickly proven false when Louis reached his right hand out and cupped Harry’s jaw and ran his thumb across his left cheekbone. Harry closes his eyes, enjoying Louis’ touch.
Louis thinks he’s falling in love with Harry, but they just kissed today, so obviously Louis can’t be in love yet. Right? Or could he? No. Yes? No. No. No.
“I love you.” Louis doesn’t even realize he’s talking until he notices Harry’s eyes snap open. “Oh sh-t.” Louis covers his mouth with his left hand. Harry can’t control the huge smile that makes its way onto his face.
‘I love you, too.’ Harry manages to sign before he moves Louis’ hand off his mouth and connects his lips.
