A/N; Song is my feelings at the moment.
***********

                   Eli’s P.O.V

The car ride with Shawn’s mom to pick up food was awkward until she lend forward pressing on the radio. I looked around trying to find a conversation starter.

“So, does this happen often?” I asked jabbing my thumb back towards the direction we just came. The car rumbled louder as we came into the city.

She pushed her sunglasses higher on her face and shrugged,”Only in a good week, I guess.” Chuckling awkwardly the conversation died quickly after that. It was very clear we had nothing in common besides we both loved her son. Sighing I pulled my phone out from my pocket bored of the silence of conversation filled with the faint drone of a saxophone. Scrolling through my recent messages my phone buzzed and a box labelled ‘Seth’, with many emojis after that, was immediately taken to the top.

Tapping on it I read the message.

Seth: Finished here with Shawn! When will u b back with dinner?
Looking over at Shawn’s mom I sighed and just shrugged. What’s the worst that could happen?

     “Mrs. Ortiz?”
“Please, call me Beka,” she interrupted slowing the car down making me look out the window. She was parking out side an Indian place.

“Uh, the boys want to know about what time we’ll be back,” I said showing her my phone like she wanted proof. She giggled as she unbuckled and climbed out of the car. I quickly fumbled for the seatbelt and followed her slamming my door closed and shuffling in the restaurant behind her.

“Tell them soon,” she whispered as we stood in a small line at a desk with a sign above that read ‘take out.’ I looked around admitting the soft maroon colour of the walls mixed with the harsh cut diamond chandeliers and of set paintings hung on the walls.

There was a half-wall directly to my left with a table for two filled with two boys holding hands waiting for their meal. There was a candle set in the middle of their table as well as a vase with two roses. They talked softly conscious of the people around them. My heart melted when I saw the older looking man with black and gray pepper hair and blue eyes lean across and capture the younger males lips. The younger male had softer features, light dirty-blonde hair matched with hazel eyes. Beka cleared her throat making me jump. I turned and looked at her.
“Ever been here before?” She asked her eyes resting on the couple I was entranced by. She smiled her eyes softening and then looked back down at me.

“Uh, no. I’ve only really eaten Thai or Chinese. If I eat anything besides American,” I said making her grunt in disapproval and shake her head.

“We’ll have to fix that,” she said and turned towards the menu, “we’re getting everything.” My eyes widened as I heard her say this. I mean, sure I’d never had Indian food before but no need to buy the whole menu.

Gasping I started shaking my head, “you don’t need to do-”

Setting her hands on my shoulders she nodded, “calm down, son. I’m not spending a penny. I own this restaurant along with the Thai place on third and eighth, the Chinese joints on main, eighth, and Fleming, the sushi place just one store down and an ice cream store a block away,” explaining herself I felt a lot better knowing she wasn’t spending money on me. Also, I didn’t know that she was a business owner! I just thought she married Mr.Ortiz and then boom! Children.

                    *************

After ordering our food and then waiting around for what felt like hours we finally were gifted with what looked and felt like thirty bags. It literally felt like 100 pounds of food. Setting all the food in the backseat and climbing back into the front Beka started the car again and whipped around the block.

“Let’s pick up some dessert, shall we,” she giggled and parked in front of a small pink store by the name of ‘Obi&Juan.’ Giggling at the name I climbed out of the car after her and raced in front of her pushing the door open hearing the familiar jingle of bells.

“Hola!” Yelled a man. Looking up there was the ice cream bar to my right and booths to my left. The man was a small, clearly Mexican man who was wearing a sombrero hat. Next to him was a man who was wearing what looked like a full length hoodie. He had a lightsaber hanging at his side. Then it hit me.

Obi One Kenobi and Juan! I get it!

Giggling I shook my head and ran up to the bar almost pressing my face to it. I swear I could smell the ice cream.

“What’ll it be for the lady?” The man dressed as the wise Star Wars character asked Beka.

“Well, we’re actually here to pick out tubs to bring him for dessert. I just want chocolate. Eli?” She turned towards me a joyous look on her face.

“Hmm,” tapping my chin I looked down the whole row trying to decide. “I’ll take the Vanilla Java Mocha.” Pointing to the coffee flavoured ice cream they both nodded and went out a back door leaving us alone.

“So, what did the boys say? Are they complaining that we aren’t there yet?” She asked making me remember that I forgot to text them back.

“Oh! Thank you! I forgot to text them back,” I told her whipping out my phone from my back pocket. I had five missed calls and two missed texts from Seth and six missed texts from Shawn.

Opening my phone I read the messages.

     Seth: Hello?
Seth: Did you get attacked by some sort of super ninja and they are taking you for ransom but your gonna think it’s a commercial.

Laughing I shook my head a responded.

Eli: Sorry! I forgot to reply. I saw a cute couple. We are getting dessert and then we’ll be home.

Clicking back I pressed on the box that read ‘Shawn,’ trying to mentally prepare myself.

     Shawn: Babe?
     Shawn: Honey?
     Shawn: r u ok?
Shawn: type 1 for yes and 2 for no
     Shawn: can u hurry
Shawn: I think my stomach is going 2 eat my other intestines b4 u get back.

Cringing at his abbreviated ‘text talk’ instead of just spelling out simple words. Again I responded to him.

Eli: Waiting on dessert. Will be home soon.
Eli: Learn to spell. Jesus Christ.

Leaning back to put my phone in my pocket we were once again joined by the two men. My phone buzzed making me sigh and look down at it again.

Shawn: I think Jesus has long abandoned you. Sorry 2 burst ur bubble.
Eli: All I’m asking is that you take 2 seconds, literally, to spell out words.
Shawn: I’m saving that time for time I could be using my hands to pleasure men. 😉😏👌🏼

Shaking my head I just pushed my phone slowly down into my pocket hoping Beka didn’t see it.

That boy was gonna be the death of me.
