“I’ll never get tired of this…of tasting the sweetness of your lips, or touching your skin as we lay side by side, this for me is what living is all about” ~Azval
9) Schemes – Liam
The taste of the kiss felt really great. It was not sensual, but it gave me a familiar feeling. It’s like I’ve wanted to do that for a very long time. It’s like I’ve been longing to kiss him, to kiss Niall.
“Why?” I still remember how he asked in daze. I couldn’t answer myself. Why did I kiss him?
I was just so angry that he kept messing with Harry when I already told him not to. I hated being him with the guy, plus I don’t think him being close to Harry would be good for my mission.
I didn’t attend any of my classes and also avoided the wolf who was fuming in anger. I knew sniffed my scent. Eve enchanted my skin to be able to stay out during the day without burning and that’s why I have a tattoo of the sun on the wrist of my right hand, it’s where Eve carved the seal.
With that seal, I can also keep my scent away, but with constant encounter with the wolves, they probably memorized my weak scent already.
Without coming near him, I’ve been observing the Druid for a long time. And this time I knew the wolf had marked him. Even as a vampire, I smell the intense scent of marking as he took a bite from the Druids neck.
It was a sweet smelling scent that causes arousal for the mutts, but it was just a normal sweet smelling scent to me, like the scent of blood.
I don’t know if I should have stopped him. I felt like I wanted to rip the wolf apart from the Druid. I think I had the experience of what humans called jealousy.
I don’t even know why I felt that way.
That Druid was just a mission to be, a means to get to my own cause. It’s to satisfy Eve.
Would Eve be angry if I tell her that her little Druid had been marked by a wolf? She told me to just watch him and protect him from harm. She didn’t tell me about other things. And besides, the wolf thinks he’s mated to the Druid. It’s wasn’t my fault that I didn’t do anything, I was only ordered to watch.
I was also order to get near him, so that it would be easy to persuade him to our cause, Eve’s cause. I was just in this to get back something that I’ve lost.
I drove back to Eve’s house, the house south of Woodbridge that people kept thinking it haunted. It’s true at some point, Eve did haunt the house.
I don’t know what the woman was, and I don’t know why she’s doing these things. All I know is, she’s the one who helped me when I was cursed.
The door creaked as I entered the ancient two stories building smelling the dust and old wood that composes it. There were a lot of spiders that had decided to make a living inside the house spinning their web everywhere especially the glass chandelier on the ceiling but I didn’t care about them, nor did Eve. We didn’t expect any visitors anytime soon, so that doesn’t matter.
The kitchen was also a mess, not that I need it to be clean since I don’t cook what I eat and Eve also do not eat.
I hurried back down the basement where my coffin was. I don’t really need to sleep inside a coffin but it’s more comfortable than the normal bed since there’s no distraction, it’s just a total silence and sweet darkness.
The stairs screeched as I step on the old wood until I was at an underground compartment of the house.
The welcomed darkness greeted me since there’s no electricity flowing in the house. I simply moved my shades back to my head, the blackness wasn’t a problem in fact it was a relaxation for my eyes from the irritatingly bright rays of the sun.
I saw Eve’s translucent form floating in lotus position near the ceiling of the cramped little room.
She was humming with closed eyes. It’s the first time I saw her like that, in that deep concentration.
Usually I would find her just staring at that dead oak near the house murmuring her usual creed.
“You’re wondering why I’m doing this?” she asked. That was one annoying thing about her. I don’t know if she can really read minds, or she’s just good at guessing.
She opened one of her eye and snapped a finger, suddenly a candle near a small table on the side of my coffin glowed with fire.
“I’m just being careful,” she told me straightening her legs so that she’s no longer sitting but standing, although her bare feet were still inches above the ground.
“Our little black bird saw a really powerful witch come into town, and she immediately knew where my Quill is, or who he is. I put her to sleep and that took a lot of my power, but she’s strong. She’s constantly fighting her way up from that sleeping curse I put her into,” she explained looking at me.
“Tarmac,” she called. I heard the crow shriek and the flapping of its wings echoed in the hall above before it finally entered the underground chamber.
The bird landed on the back of a wooden chair near the small table where the candle stood nearly blowing the candle fire off with its flapping wings.
“I need you to go check on Quill, Liam’s being a lazy ass so you’ll have to do the job for now, go!” And the bird flew away again after hearing the command of the translucent woman.
I pulled the chair away from the table. I hate candle and light, it’s a vampire thing. Then I sat on the chair away from the flickering candle.
“Why do you call Niall, Quill?” I asked her. She’s been telling me what to do, but I don’t really know much about her plan or what she wanted to do.
She smiled.
Once upon a time Niall’s name was Quill. I just got used to his former name, so I’m always using it.
“You mean… long long time ago?” I asked again. Or maybe Druids are like vampires that lives forever. Then again, I don’t think Niall knows anything about being a Druid.
“In the past life,” she explained.
“Oh!” So that’s why.
“Druid are powerful beings. Niall just hasn’t awakened yet. When they awaken, they slowly remember their past life. It’s against the natural order for normal humans and even among supernatural, but Druids have permission from the goddess for this. So all the knowledge a Druid knew, from all his past life would come back to him when he turned eighteen.”
“How do you know this?” I asked.
“I am very old,” she answered.
I don’t know if she would answer my next question but I’d try.
“Then why are you doing this?” I asked her hoping that I’d get a bit of an answer.
“Revenge!” She said and then chanted the words that I labeled her creed since she’s been chanting it non-stops every time I see her.
“For I shall not rest, until they bleed
And reap their planted seed
In the name of greed
For I shall not die, until I give
Justice to the graves that grieve
No sinners is to live”
She whispered those words before her translucent body vanished into thin air. I knew she went to the window where she could see the dead oak.
She always chanted those words when looking at the dead oak with longing. Like it was a promise she wanted to keep.
I walked up the stairs and followed her to the second floor of the house, careful not to step on weak flooring, so that I don’t fall down.
I still needed to tell her about the wolf marking the Druid.
“Eve,” I called her as she muffled the same word she chanted her creed while looking at the dried oak tree just below the window.
She turned her head to me but her lips kept saying the words repeatedly.
“One of the wolves in town marked the Druid,” I told her waiting for a changed in facial expression.
Was she angry?
No!
She smiled.
“Good. We can use that.” she told me.
“Good?” I repeated.
“I knew when I saw that curly haired boy that he will soon mark Quill, I didn’t know it’d be sooner,” she said feeling happy about it.
“I think I kind of pissed the wolf by kissing the Druid,” I told her scratching my head embarrassed about what I did.
She gave me an inquiring gaze but sooner dismissed it.
“I can understand what you did,” she said and a sigh of relief left my lungs. “So what did you feel, when you kissed?”
“It was just a kiss,” I answered her lying and a sly smile formed on her lips.
“If you say so,” she said and then continued to chant looking at the dead tree.
So I should just go back down to sleep, or continue observing Niall. But there were questions still on my minds.
“How?” I asked Eve again. “How can Harry, the wolf, help us get Niall?” I asked. I don’t trust Harry, I don’t like him.
“I don’t know why you feel hate for the boy like he’s some sort of rival,” she stated looking at me again. “He isn’t even your enemy.”
“I don’t…” I lied. Maybe that’s why I hate Harry so much, I feel like his some sort of rival. But rival for what? For Niall?
“Contain your feelings Az… Liam,” she commanded. “I am telling you now, feeling anger towards the wolf won’t bring you good in the future.”
“I do not hate him,” I lied.
“Good,” she nodded then looked away through the window while still speaking. “I am sure that the wolf does not know what the council of kings planned to do with the Druid once they caught him. And one absolute truth about the wolves is that they will always put their mates above anything else, even their own life or the whole world. So we just tell him that his little mate is the Druid they were searching for and tell him that the council of kings planned to separate them. And we can easily rally him with his mate on our side.”
“Will he believe that?” I asked. “Will he believe if we lie?”
She smiled again. “I do not lie about anything. I only speak the truth or do not speak at all.”
“He won’t easily accept that, but I have just the thing I need for it to happen… and she’s sleeping in the house of the wolves,” she explained.
“The red witch,” I said.
“Exactly,” she said gleaming with excitement.
“But first, I want you to watch the Horan’s carefully,” she commanded. “Those two might try to sneak the boy away.”
“They knew?”
“I told them I will come for the boy the night when the sky turns red,” she told me. “I was the one who gave them the boy in the first place. They easily accepted him since they could not make any sons of their own.”
“Wait… you were the one who gave Niall to his parents?”
“That’s what I said.”
“And you didn’t tell me that piece of information?” I blurted.
“I didn’t tell you that?”
“No!” I answered.
“Well I don’t think it’s important,” she dismissed. “What’s important is I saw them try to bring Niall away. They will try to sneak the boy away from this place, so I need you to prevent that.”
I nodded.
“I need him here during the blood moon.”
“Understood,” I said.
“Good!”
“You know, I’ll never get tired of this,” a short curly haired boy leaned on his side kissing the nose of another lad. The wind blew and the grass where they lie dances under the mild sunny afternoon.
The wind wasn’t too cold and was just warm enough to make the after picnic very comfortable.
“You’ll never get tired of what?” the silver haired boy asked the curly haired one while lying on his back while his long white clothes touched the grass beneath him.
“This,” the curly haired boy answered. And he slowly let his lips descend on the lips of boy with the silver hair.
It was just a soft peck on the lips, but it was the sweetest feeling the two ever tasted.
“…of tasting the sweetness of your lips, or touching your skin as we lay side by side, this for me is what living is all about,” the curly haired boy confessed making the silver haired boy look flustered, turning pink all over.
“I love you Quill,” the curly haired boy told the one with the silver hair.
“I love you too Azval,” the young lad answered and they shared another passionate kiss.
A kiss I Liam remembered, it was the same feeling as when I kissed Niall. It’s like in that back of my mind, I knew who those two people I was watching.
And suddenly I woke up, seeing the cover of my coffin in front of me. What was that all about.
Quill, I remembered the name, it’s what Eve told me to be Niall’s name in the past life. But if Niall is Quill who is the curly haired guy he called Azval?
And why the hell did I see that, like it was a movie. Was it a dream?
Impossible!
Vampires don’t dream, so what the hell did I just saw? || Stay tuned for more
