Rivals’ Love Affair
Part Three

Zico didn’t know bliss until he met Jaehyo. Everything in his life turned so much better. His days were better; his mornings would be awoken by the content smile that he proudly wore when he bathe himself so he can go secretly see Jaehyo.

When he didn’t have to fight, he would do his best to sneak out to see his beloved crush. He had even told Taeil that he went running at the gym every time he would question him where he was going.

And this exactly the lie he told Taeil again. Earlier today he had woken up, taken a shower, and without eating, went out of their shared house, ignoring Taeil’s voice.

A cold breeze had met him as he opened his car door. Since he was all giddy inside, something so new to him, the car ride even became more anxious. He could hear Jaehyo’s laugh in his head and that sort of noise got him to arrive at his cabin much quicker than he thought he would.

His jacket kept him warm and with his hands inside his pockets, he walked up to the door where Jaehyo was currently at, drinking a liquid from a water bottle.

“Never been this early before to somewhere, especially at this hour,” Jaehyo lightly chuckles sporting his famous smile.

“Well I wanted to eat breakfast with you,” Zico shyly admits, opening the door with his keys and dropping the food on the table.

Before heading to his cabin he had stopped at a restaurant and bought breakfast for both of them. The idea of eating with Jaehyo had been weird inside his mind, but he wanted to try how it would be to eat with another boy that wasn’t his gang members.

Opposite from him, Jaehyo sits down and immediately opens the bag and takes out the food out. Zico sits down as well, helping Jaehyo take the food out.

Such action made him look down from shyness. He had never done such cute action towards someone. He felt himself be vulnerable, as if this was embarrassing to admit he was doing.

And damn did he realized he was smitten with Jaehyo. In a way he wanted to slap himself from getting soft towards another man when he was never soft to the women he fooled around with.

Taking one of the pancakes from the container and adding it to his plate, he rips one side of the small packet and pours the maple syrup onto the pancake.

“There was a huge fight yesterday on top of the pub that resulted in one of the members’ getting into a coma,” Jaehyo begins the conversation with a sensitive topic that brings fear into their eyes.

“Oh, I didn’t know about this. Do you know what gang it was?” His voice is fragile and frighten, his face wide eye.

“No. I only heard this information, sorry.” He hadn’t even began eating, but his pancakes didn’t look appetizing any longer.

“No, worries.” Jaehyo offers him a small smile and then looks down on his pancakes and brings a piece to his mouth.

Now Zico felt guilty for telling this to Jaehyo. Watching his face change from happy to fearful scared him the most. Telling this information to Jaehyo was like telling him that their relationship and their feelings that they haven’t really said out loud, is dangerous. Their whereabouts is a dangerous act that is just waiting to be discovered.

Zico sighs heavily, taking a sip of his coffee. His stomach was churning, the idea of being discovered haunting him. Zico loves being with Jaehyo, just a little bit more or even a lot more than fighting with other gangs.

“We won’t get caught, you know?” His voice is raspy and soft when he tells him, gulping after, his body warming up with nerves.

“What?” Jaehyo shrieks, alert. He grabs a water bottle and opens the cap, and drinks, calming the fits of cough he caught after.

There was no denying of their chemistry. There was no denying that what they had was something more than just feeling like they’re rebels for being from two different gangs.

Zico can feel his tension towards Jaehyo. The way his body craves Jaehyo. His lips crave Jaehyo’s lips, the pulsing there, seducing him to go and plant his kiss right now and there.

Without thinking further, he rises from his chair and he walks up to Jaehyo who was looking at him, a parted expression on his lips. “You know that I want you right?”

“Zico?”

“They won’t find out. I want you so bad. Fuck everything else. Fuck the masculinity that our leaders glorify. Lets crush it.” And with that said, and without saying anything more, Zico crushes his lips against Jaehyo’s.

Jaehyo doesn’t hesitate and begins to pull him closer where Zico is on top of Jaehyo and Jaehyo is pulling his hair. At this point, their deep kiss shows the frustration of how they had kept their distance although they had wanted to be together.

Later after their shared pda, and had finished their breakfast, Jaehyo was in between Zico’s legs as they talked about their feelings being the leader of their own gang.

The sky was turning from a dark shade into a beautiful blue, clouds scarce and forming into shapes Zico could see from the open window, the curtains pushed all the way back.

It was a strange feeling to have someone with him, to be like this with such peace that he almost forgot that they were both from different gangs, they could never be together.

“What are you thinking?” Jaehyo cracks his neck to look at him, utter curiosity.

Zico gives him a warm smile, and with a light ran through Jaehyo’s fingers, he answers, daze like,” of how we’re from two different gangs and we don’t even from which gang. We’re kind of like shadows of who we are, and our presence is the actual us, pure enemies.”

That kind of reality he tries to bury so deep into his conscious that he lies to himself that they’re just normal guys, together being happy as who they are.

“I like to believe that we’re not enemies. We are separated from the hatred of our leaders who would rather see us fight without mercy than let us be who we are. I don’t care that you’re my enemy. In this cabin you’re my lover. Nothing more, nothing less,” Jaehyo says, his tone serious and slightly angry.

“I don’t care that you’re my enemy either. I just can’t process that one of these days, if not sooner, we’ll be fighting each other and we won’t even know it. I don’t want to fight you.” Zico kisses the tip of Jaehyo’s nose.

Jaehyo smirks and kisses Jaehyo back, rubbing his thumb on Zico’s cheek. “Are you worry that I’ll win you?”

“Uhh.. NO. You mean I’m gonna win you,” Zico playfully retorts, raising one eyebrow.

“You wish you could win us!” Jaehyo yelps as Zico grabs him and picks him up and they both fall to the ground as they try to tickle each other.

Zico’s ears fill with the pleasant laughter that comes out of Jaehyo. His cheeks begin to hurt, and his stomach tires from expanding as he laughs his ass off.

This morning was indeed the best he had in a while.

~~~
A buzz comes through his jean pockets as he gives one last lingering kiss to Jaehyo. It was time that he had to leave. They couldn’t stay forever.
Since Jaehyo came walking from where he left his car, Zico has to stay an hour so no one sees them together or suspect that they’re meeting in secret.
With the side button that shuts his phone off, he presses twice and lets the call go to decline. He can’t and won’t hear Taeil tell him shit and demand to tell him where he always goes.
Lately Taeil has been pushing the idea of stealing money from the gang to gain respect from the other gangs since their reputation is plummeting from their lack of wins.
To be frank Zico is tired from hearing the same explanation and begging from Taeil. He had even made Kyung beg Zico to go along with the plan, and they both know that if he doesn’t agree to the plan then there won’t be a plan.
Sitting back down to the couch that he along with Jaehyo warmed up, Zico closes his eyes. He’s tired of being a leader. He’s tired of making decisions he doesn’t want to make. Why can’t he just do what he wants to do? Now more than ever he wants to be out of this shit.
There’s nothing to win. Nothing to gain. This all for pride. All for respect that doesn’t begin to be actual respect. This is respect without the actual respect. This is authority disguise as respect.
His phone begins to ring again, and all he wants to do is scream from anger. He has already ignore Taeil’s phone calls several times again. If he doesn’t answer this time then he’ll be in serious trouble. He’s the leader, but that still doesn’t mean that he can control his life. If he’s keeping a secret the other gang members are required, more like forced to tell their leaders.
“What the fuck you want?”
“We have the perfect plan!”
“I told you this stupid. I’m coming soon. Don’t get your hopes up, though. There’s nothing in me that will agree with your rhetoric speech,” Zico annoyed says before hanging up and getting out of his cabin.
~~~

“Took you long enough!” Zico rolls his eyes as he comes in to the small garage they use to plan and discuss their fights.

Upon entering, his body begins to sweat. This room was super hot despite the weather outside.

As usual, the table was sprawled with dozens of papers either stacked or spread all over. The whiteboard behind them was filled with words, sketches, drawings. Taeil was in deep thought, his head buried on the table.

Kyung had a beer in his hands, his shirts wrinkled, empty bottles spread around.

“How long have you guys been here?” Zico’s nose scrunches, the smell finally reaching his nostrils.

“Since the morning. The question where have you been?” Kyung’s voice is full of authority and aggressiveness. Zico opens his mouth with astonishment. Why does he care where he is? He ain’t the leader of the group. He is.

“No where you need to know. Mind your own damn business,” he raises his voice. He goes to the cooler and takes a cold beer, popping it and taking a huge chug of the bitter liquid. “So what’s the plan?”

“You don’t get to talk like you can be where you want to be. This is serious business and you rather play hide and seek while we do your fucking job,” Kyung replies instead, equally as angry as he is, crushing the can and throwing it next to other cans on the floor.

“Hey, Hey! Not now. We have to execute this plan before someone else does!” Taeil shouts garnering the attention from both Zico and Taeil.

“What are you talking about? Who else is gonna rob fucking money?”

“Not money. A jewel. A pink jewel that’s worth 2 fucking million dollars,” Taeil says, accentuating his words through a grin.

“We are not stealing a mother ducking jewel and that’s final,” Zico sharply and with much ire says, turning around and getting out of the garage.

“We’re not done talking about this,” Zico hears Taeil talk in desperation. His head is spinning.

This is crazy shit talk. They’re fighters not robbers. Not freaking criminals. Taeil has lost his mind and he has no idea what he’s going to do about.

Two million fucking dollars. That’s a lot of shit. Is that even worth the respect of the others? That better be or else he’s fucked.
