(Lucas’s POV- they are home from Florida)

Last week was one of the best weeks of my life but when we got back all I wanted to do was relax. I felt like we had been going and going like the energizer bunny. Unfortunately I couldn’t I worked the very next day and then today is the party. School starts next week and dad has convinced me into cutting my hours at work so I can enjoy my last year of high school. I was the boyfriend of a football player after all.  Both Holden and Landon quiet their jobs do to football practice, games and school. I however went down to working only Monday and Wednesday’s. Those are the nights their practice are later because of learning plays. Brandon is still with Lacey but Landon and his girlfriend split as soon as we got back. She swore that Land cheated even though he didn’t. He will find someone that is right for him sooner or later. I still have high hopes for it being Brook. My dad and Holden’s mom are talking like everyday they even made plans to go out to dinner next Friday.

“Babe, you ready yet?” Holden asked from the bedroom. I have just finished showering for the party. I’m not as nervous as I was for the first one. I get along with most of the people that are going to be here and Holden said he doesn’t plan on letting me off the dance floor all night.

“Yeah, just need to brush my teeth.” I said. We didn’t have to worry about doing our hair or anything because it was a pool party so people will be swimming and playing games like last time. No drinking is allowed and some parents will be stopping by to make sure that my dad wasn’t lying to them. This party unlike the last one is basically open to everyone. We will be kicking out any trouble makers and anyone we think may or may not be drinking.

“I have something for you when you finally decided to get out here.” He said laughing.

“What?” I asked opening the door.

“I was wondering if you would like to wear my class ring? My mom got me a new one for this school and it came in while we were gone.” He said holding up his class ring.

“I would love too if you want you can wear mine.” I said walking over to my night stand and pulling out my class ring. I bought and paid for it by myself so I was proud of it.

“I would love to wear yours.” He said trying it on all his fingers finally getting it to fit his pinky. He ring fit nicely on my middle finger.

“So does this mean we are going steady?” I asked chuckling.

“Or this could be more like a promise. I promise to love you forever, never leave you, try not to mess up and hurt you and I promise that as soon as we graduate high school to switch it for an engagment ring for a wedding I hope to have as soon as we graduate college.” He said shocking me.

“I like that idea. We could always get married during college.” I said hopefully.

“I want to wait until after I at least graduate so i can start working to support us.” He said I understood that and was okay with it all.

“Okay, so we can start thinking of a date in the mean time.” I said laughing as I wrapped my arms around his neck.

“You can have whatever date you want as long as I am a college grad.” He said before leaning down to kiss me.

“Deal.” I said kissing him.

“Come on you two dad said people are starting to show up.” Landon yelled as he headed for the stairs.

Holden and I followed Lacey, Brandon and Landon over to the main house. Mason and the rest of the guys were already in the back yard goofing around laughing. I was cool with them being here it was the people I didn’t know. Dad had cooked up a bunch of food with the help of Gran before they went in the house for the rest of the night. Those two had been getting along for a while now and I liked having her around.

Landon and I were in the pool with a bunch of others some where playing basketball in the shallow end while the rest of us were in the deep end just talking or hanging out. There was a lot of people here now and the party seemed to be like the place to be. We had to make some parents come get their already drunk kids and once they were positive we didn’t have anything here for them to be that way they left.

“Hey, so you two are really a couple?” One of the cheerleaders asked.

“Yes, we are.” Holden said hugging me closer.

“I thought Landon put you up to dating his brother as a joke.” She said.

“Megan, I told you that Landon has change. He gets along with his little brother now.” One of the other girls said.

“Landon hasn’t changed that much he just cheated on his girlfriend while he was in Florida.” The Megan girl said.

“No he didn’t. He didn’t even talk to any of the girls that tried to talk to him.” I said turning to look at them.

“But his girlfriend said there are pictures of him with some girl on his facebook.” Megan said.

“That girl in the picture was some girl that was doing a concert at one of the places we went. We all got her autograph and pictures taken with her.” Holden said.

“See I told you he changed.” The other girl said. I liked her but I still wanted him with Brook.

“Trish, it sounds like you like him.” Megan said giggling.

“He’s hot what can I say.”  The Trish girls said giggling.

“Well because his ex didn’t want to hear his side of the story he is newly single and ready to mingle.” Holden said chuckling making the girls squeal.

Both girls wiggled out of the pool and headed straight for Landon who was playing football in the back part of the yard with a bunch of other guys.

“So do you think we will have a girl fight over your brother before the night is over?” Holden asked as we both made our way out of the pool and over to the food.

“Maybe, I mean I know that Trish likes him but something in Megan’s eyes says that she might want some Land O’Lakes too.”  I said chuckling.

“Oh I am so telling him you called him that.” Holden said laughing.

“So, I don’t think he will mind as long as I am not yelling it at the top of my lungs to everyone here.” I said following him to a spot by one of the trees.

We finished eating and then made our way back to the football game. Holden was called in when one of the other guys had to take a break and eat. I sat and watch with Megan and Trish. They were really nice a little dense but nice.

“Hey Luc, dad needs help bring some more food out.” Lace said coming up to me.

“Okay, where is he?” I asked standing up.

“In the kitchen with Ms. Fletcher and Gran.” She said winking. Okay so my dad has the hots for my boyfriends mom and visa verse.

“Cool I will go help him.” I said and headed off to the house.

I found dad, Gran and Ms. Fletcher in the kitchen where a bunch of food was setting.

“Where did this all come from?” I asked.

“A couple of the parents that came to check things out brought food.” Dad said rolling his eyes making me laugh.

“Okay so let’s take it out and see if we have room for all of this.” I said taking some of the plates and carrying them to the door.

We carried all the food out to the back yard were kids started to storm us for the new food. I hadn’t noticed that most of the other food was gone and people were still hungry. Dad must have noticed the same thing because he looked a little shocked at how many people were actually here. The back yard was packed but everyone was getting along and only a few people were asked to leave.

“I think we may need more food.” Dad said once all the food was on the table.

“I didn’t even realize there was that many people here.” I said looking back out to all the people standing around the food tables.

“I am going to make some more hot dogs and I might go get more chips. When are you guys heading out to the clearing?” Dad asked.

“In about an hour, are the fireworks set up?” I asked.

“Yeah the party is ending at one and it’s nine so you guys might want to start heading that way. We can bring more food out that way when I have it done.” Dad said.

“Holden and I will go light the fire and turn the lights one.” I said heading for the door.

I found Holden and Landon talking with some of the guys.

“Dad said for us to start heading everybody out to the clearing for the bone-fire.” I said.

“Cool, you guys go get shit set up and I will send Lacey with every body in about fifteen minutes after I get a few of them to help me start cleaning up this part of the party. The more we clean up tonight the less we have to do tomorrow. Tomorrow is the last day of summer vacation and I plan on doing nothing but sleep and relax.” Landon said.

“Same here.” I said taking Holden’s hand and heading towards the clearing. Holden plugged in the set of lights that were in the trees from the last party. That help light the way back to the pond. We have the back side of the pond roped off for the fireworks and the bone-fire was set off the left of the pond.

“Do you hear the music?” Holden asked as I started to light the rags dad had placed in the fire pit.

“Yeah, I think the speakers Landon hung up this morning are working.” I said looking to see if anyone was coming.

“I forgot where that other set of lights get plugged in at.” He said looking around with a flash light.

“Over by that big tree close to where we walked in.” I said pointing. The fire was now going pretty good so I left it to do it’s job.

“Cool I found it.” He yelled not realizing I was right behind him.

“That’s cool, this place looks amazing.” I said turning and looking around at clearing light nicely with white Christmas tree lights.

“Shit you scared me.” He said jumping a little before pulling me close to him. A slow song started to play and we started dancing.

“You two are so fucking cute.” Lace said with a group of people behind her. Brandon grabbed her and joined us in our dance.

“You two are not so bad yourself.” I said grinning like a foul.

“Wow this is so cool. I have never been to a party like this with out being drunk and have so much fun.” Megan said pulling Trish and Landon with her.

“We cleaned up almost everything up by the pool. Dad said they would get the rest and they were going to bring more food down for us.” Landon said pulling a wagon filled with coolers.

“Hey were do you want me to take all the stuff for smores?” Carter asked with his own wagon filled with sticks, chocolate , marshmallows and crackers.

“Well let’s see who all wants to make them.” Landon said following Carter close to the fire.

“Did you want smores?” Holden asked me.

“Sure, let’s go grab our sticks before they disappear.” I said following Landon and Carter.

We roasted marshmallows making smore for awhile. Once I was too full to move we got up and handed off our sticks to some people who were just sitting down and headed off to dance. Holden and I danced to every slow song after that until it was time for the fireworks. Dad said that they were our way to end the party. So before they started Landon announced that the party was ending once the last firework was let off.

“It was an awesome party.” Holden said holding me as we waited for the first blast of color to brighten the night sky.

“Yeah, I don’t think I panicked once.” I said smiling at him.

“Are you ready for school?” He asked.

“I think I am. I think this year is going to be a lot different for me.” I said sighing in relief.

“I promise to kick the shit out of anyone that says anything or hurts you in anyway.” He said squeezing me.

“I really don’t think I am going to have an issue. I made some really good friends this year so I think  I have it made.” I said feeling really good about my senior year. I was actually looking forward to it.

The first of the fireworks started making me jump a little causing Holden to chuckle. The fireworks lasted for about twenty minutes and then it was over. The party was over and I made it. When the last person was gone we sprayed water on the fire putting it out before cleaning up the rest of the party. When the lights were unplugged that was our cue to go to bed. This has been the best summer of my life. I am more in love with Holden then I ever was with Harvey. I love the place I live and where I work. My family is the best. I am so glad my brother and sister finally grew up and stopped doing what my mom wanted. Thankfully she was still up north with Grandfather. Gran said she acts like shes sixteen again and living like she is sixteen again. To me that is really sad.

Holden and I finally made it up to my room where we enjoyed a really steamy shower. Now I am laying awake in his arms thinking over how much my life has changed since I met him. I am so thankful that he is in my life and I hope that our future is long and happy. I looked at the ring on my finger and liked how it looked. I can’t wait to add a wedding ring to my other hand. Harvey and I never talked about marriage to much it was more college and what not but never marriage, kids and a really future. I am so glad for that because my future is with Holden and Holden only.
