I open the door to the bedroom to find Joey staring out the window. I thought he’d still be asleep but he’s still up. Vanessa and I had sex yesterday. After the party we went to her house and we just went for it. I thought I ‘d be walking on clouds after but while we were doing it I couldn’t stop thinking about Joey. I feel so disgusted. I broke things off with Vanessa this morning. She was so mad at me she threw her heels at my head. Whatever. I’m just happy it’s over. “Hey, Joey.” I say, leaning against the doorframe. He turns around and looks at me with those eyes of his. “Hey.” He says looking down. I sit down next to him on the window frame. “Joey I’m sorry about yesterday.” He doesn’t look at me. “I was a jerk. I shouldn’t have acted like that.” Silence fills the room. “Will you just look at me and tell me how you feel?” “Tell you how i feel?” He says getting up. “I tried to. Several times yesterday but you wouldn’t listen! I wanted to talk about the kiss, I wanted to figure shit out but YOU were the one that was so against it, so don’t go telling me I should ‘tell you how I feel’ you don’t get to.” I get up from the window frame. “I’m sorry about that too.” “I’ll forgive you if we can just talk about the kiss.” I really want my buddy back. “Fine, let’s talk.” It’s quiet for a while. I guess he doesn’t know what to say either. After a while he finally breaks the silence. “When I kissed you.. What I felt.. I’ve never felt like that with anyone.” He looks at me with a serious face. “Well ofcourse not, I mean you’ve never really had a girlfriend now have you?” “Yes I have..” I give him my ‘oh please’ look. “In sixt grade.” He says staring at the floor. I laugh. ” Look, that kiss didn’t mean anything. We were just horny and that’s all. It doesn’t mean a thing.” Joey doesn’t respond so I look at him and he looks hurt. ” I mean, don’t get me wrong, it was great and all but we’re not gonna start dating all of a sudden.” I mean the fact that Vanessa doesn’t turn me on has absolutely nothing to do with Joey. I just need a new girl. That’s all. Joey’s still not saying anything. “You’ll find someone, I promise. A girl. And you’ll love her alot. Don’t be sad..” He knows I don’t like his long face. ” Yeah I guess you’re right..” he says, finally looking at me again. “Now give me a smile.” I say glaring at him. “I’m not a child, Jess.” “Oh come on..” I say walking up to him with my hands pointing at him. “No, Jess!” He screams but it’s too late. I tickle him with all my strength and he’s laughing like crazy. When we’re done I look at his face and he’s full on smiling. I know I should be happy about this but it feels like I made a terrible mistake.
It was at this moment I knew, I had fucked up.
