Christopher was standing across Talon who was currently rambling about his day while making origami birds out of post its
Christopher figured analyzing why he made those little birds was more important then listening what happened in his day
Till he caught something interesting I think he ramble
“Say that again”
“Say what…?” Talon said dragging the what for too long. Christopher would ask about that later
“You said something about the sea and that you often went there ?”
Talon shook his head “no…I have a friend who..goes to the sea often”
Talon remembered in time not to say Cadis name. In this room, Talon was Cadis.
“And that friend is?”
“Someone that has caught my interest”
“In what aspect?”
Christopher was questioning Talons sexuality.
But talon didn’t answer. He drew a card instead out of the large pocket of his khaki jacket. He lowered the hood covering the blue of his curls till it covered his brows too
Christopher was surprised. He was used to any situation. Teenagers needing to smoke or drink. Some crying when pushed too far and some getting angry. Others letting everything out by speaking. But not what he saw before him.
First the origami green and blue birds. Then the card with the golden arrow
“Apollos song”
Said Talon. Christopher shifted his weight from the desk to his feet slowly walking towards Talon and gently hunched his back, bending to see the card
“May I?”
Talon looked up abruptly realizing how close the therapist stood to him.
A good thing about Talon, was that his skin being naturally white, the tip of his nose and cheekbones had a natural ring of red. So you couldn’t tell if he was blushing or not.
A bad thing about Talon was that his lower lip would tremble when he got embarrassed or shy
He looked down at the card again and turned it for The therapist to see.
“Apollo is said to be…the one…ugh…who was,homosexual”
Christopher’s brushed Talon as he picked the thin, flat card gently and observed the neat drawing of apollo close to another man.
Apollos song
Was written down below the card in calligraphic letters
“Do you mean to say you are gay?”
Asked Christopher and Talon smiled looking up again
“The card was for you sir”
He said and got up from the couch
“You can keep it”
He whispered slowly and left the room. Christopher stared dumb founded at the card in his hands. Was the cards meaning that shallow ? Or did The blue haired boy simply test the waters ?
He looked at the stack of paper birds. Then it hit him. He left the card on his office and looked at them closer. They weren’t empty post it’s. They had things written in those. And on the left wing of each bird was a number
He gathered them all and placed them in order on his desk. He was getting excited. He was used to been asked questions. To asking questions. To receiving answers. To giving them.
But this was a different game the boy had started.
He started unfolding one by one
1.These notes were written before the therapy sessions took place
2. Today I drew a tarot card
3. Apollos myth
4. I know I won’t draw the same card once the session ends.
5. Apollo never works to my favor.
6. The card itself has a lot to say. I’ll focus on the god himself though
7. Apollo was said to be homosexual.
8.he fell in love with a man. A man who was killed by the god of wind
Christopher stopped. Suddenly he felt a bitter taste like poison well up in his tongue. He remembered
9.the mans blood,turned into flowers.
10. Iris. Thats the name of your past love
The birds ended there and Christopher bit his lower lip harshly. Iris.
The one man he loved
The person he never wanted to be left behind by
But he was
+++
Talon smiled. The second card he drew was apollos song. The card didn’t indicate that Christopher was indeed gay. It was proof. Proof that his thoughts were right on that morning. That indeed Christopher had a lover named Iris.
The “gods” deck never let him down. It had a variety of gods. Of all religions and ancient cultures. Pagans or ancient Greeks, even Egyptians.
It was a deck Dax gave as a gift to him from the astral world. And astral deck. A deck created exactly like Talon wanted.
I want to read people like an open book. I want a deck that will give me that ability
“Then create one here. And take it with you”
“Isn’t that stealing?”
“As long as it doesn’t belong to someone else then no”
And so Talon created his own deck.
Talon became interested in Christopher’s situation. And the origami birds were the perfect way to send the message. It was up to luck if the therapist would go through the effort of actually thinking what the origami meant though
He wanted to laugh. Iris. Ironic
“Hey Talon!”
He heard someone call and he turned his head to see Cadis.
“Cadis…hello”
Cadis wrapped an arm around the boys bony shoulders. Talon forgot. Cadis was a satanist. He didn’t get the chance to ask any further
“Me and Max were going to hang out over at her place. Want to come?”
Talon frowned “No it’s alright. I’ll go home”
Cadis shrugged “then care to give me your phone number ? Maybe we can go for a walk on Saturday?”
Talon smiled. A thin smile.
“Yes sure”
They exchanged phone numbers and Cadis run a hand through Talons blue locks.
“Did you think of dying your hair another color?”
Talon looked down and shook his head “no. I like blue”
He wanted to re adjust the hood but Cadis hand was in the way. So he pulled the hood on top of his pale slender fingers and Cadis chuckled.
A chuckle that felt like the beginning of a rain. Refreshing . But cold
“Than I’ll see you another time”
Was what he said. But at precisely 2:00 am had called. Talon wasn’t planning on astral traveling nor on meditating so naturally he wouldn’t have minded the call
But it was 2:00am
And usually people sleep during that time
So Talon didn’t understand how he differed on that aspect
And he got annoyed by the phone call as he tried to find his phone through the darkness
The candles had long since distinguished. Oddly enough Cadis bottomless grey eyes came into Talons mind
“What?”
Asked Talon and he heard a chuckle.
“Lets have some fun”
“It’s 2:00 am”
“And it’s a full moon”
“Where are you getting at”
“It’s a perfect day for a ritual”
“I’m not up for calling demons”
“Aren’t you a pagan?”
“Pagans don’t associate with demons. And if some do then I’m not one of those”
” then how about you come to my place?”
“To do what?”
“Smoke”
Talon looked at the stack of packet of cigarettes that was on op of his desk
“We can do that in the morning”
“I’m not speaking of nicotine”
There was a pause. Talon understood where he was getting at
“Then come over at my house. I live alone”
Said Talon
