Tyler was left feeling numb and violated. He was lying there, motionlessly and with his pants partly down. Justin had fled when someone pulled up to the sidewalk and screamed at him to stop.
He kept replaying what happened through his mind all the while Vic and Kellin were helping him home. He kept thinking of how everything went down and started crying again.
“Tyler? Tyler relax, okay? Vic and I are gonna bring you home and Josh is on his way. Just take deep breaths.” Kellin said, trying to get Tyler to calm down. It didn’t work though and Tyler curled up in a ball on the backseat of the car, continuing to cry. He just wanted Josh to hold him and to know he was there for him.
It was hard for Kellin to actually get Tyler’s address considering Tyler was a ball of emotion and couldn’t even form sentences on account of how much he was crying but soon enough he got it and Vic quickly made his way to his home.
Tyler hadn’t calmed down one bit the entire time but at least he was now in the comfort of Josh’s home. He was lying down on the couch and sobbing when Josh barged through the front door, making Tyler shoot up with wide eyes.
“Tyler?! Where is he?!” Josh yelled, frantically. He absolutely knew he shouldn’t have let Tyler goon his own. He felt solely responsible. “Oh, Tyler!” He breathed, running over to his crying boyfriend and picking him up bridle style.
“What happened?!” Josh demanded. He was more than furious but knew he had to protect Tyler for now.
“Firstly, calm down, alright? All we know is Justin did something to Tyler. Vic pulled up as soon as he saw Tyler lying there and, when he got out, Justin ran. He chased him for about half a block before he got away in a car.” Kellin briefly explained. Tyler’s crying softened but he was just holding onto Josh now with tears silently running down his red cheeks.
“Is that true?” Josh asked Vic. He nodded and Josh accepted, bring Tyler up to his room. He lied him down on the bed and kissed the top of his head, avoiding his bruises before going back downstairs. When he got down there he saw Vic and Kellin anxiously waiting in the kitchen.
“Hey, he okay?” Vic asked, standing up. Josh shrugged.
“I haven’t talked to him yet. He’s tired and will probably need an Aspirin when he wakes up.” He expressed. “Listen, you guys can stay here for now. I don’t mind and neither will my mom. She’ll be here in about two or three hours.”
“Alright. We’re gonna go get food and bring it back here, that okay?” Kellin asked. Josh agreed and sent them on their way to pick up some Chinese food.

Tyler had taken a three hour nap before he woke up and Josh was sitting on the opposite side of the bed, looking at him with watery eyes. The tears weren’t from sadness though. They were from anger and hatred. Hatred towards himself for letting him walk on his own and thinking everything was okay when he didn’t get a call from Tyler. Hatred towards Justin for even laying one fucking finger on his baby and hurting him so much that he had bruises all along his torso, chest and face.
“Josh?” Tyler said quietly. He missed him and when he saw him looking as if he was on the brink of tears, he wanted to cry too. “What’s the matter?”
“Nothing, Ty. Come here.” Josh told him, motioning for Tyler to sit in his lap so he could hold him. Tyler accepted and got out from under the covers, crawling over to Josh and laying his head on his chest, hugging him tightly.
“I’m so sorry, baby. I never meant for you to be hurt the way you are now.” Josh said, securely holding Tyler. He never wanted to let him go.
“It’s not your fault, Joshy. It’s no one’s fault but Justin’s.” He said.
“I know but I know better than letting you go on your own when he’s been bothering you. I felt something bad but I let you go anyways.” He felt Tyler shake his head on his chest. “Just let me protect you for now, Ty?”
“I will…” Tyler gave in. “Josh, I need to tell you something.”
“Anything.” Josh said, kissing the top of his head. Tyler moved so he could look at him better but Josh frowned at all the injuries he saw on his face. Tyler put his finger to his boyfriend’s lip, hushing him.
“Aside from beating me up, … Justin, um, he… touched me, you know, down there…” Tyler said, mumbling the last part. “I screamed for him to stop and that’s when Vic and Kellin came over and Justin ran. All I did was deny a kiss, Josh. That’s all I did, I promise. I don’t know why he did such a thing.” Josh was now raging with anger after hearing that. It was bad enough Justin jumped him like that but he violated him?! He got up from the bed in a hurry.
“What?” He screamed. Tyler stood up with him, putting his hands on his arm. “Why would he do that to you?!”
“Josh! Stop it, please!” Tyler begged. He didn’t like hearing him yell. It made him scared because flashbacks of his father only raced across his mind. Josh settled down and crossed his arms.
“Ty, that’s not okay and you know it. I’m telling the police and kicking his ass the next time I see him.” Josh decided. He went for the door but Tyler stopped him before he actually got in the hall.
“Josh, please don’t. I’m not comfortable with that.” Tyler said. Josh saw the hurt and fear in his boyfriend’s eyes and made the decision to not do anything without Tyler’s okay. The last thing he wanted to do was hurt him more.
“I’ll only act when you want me to, okay?” Josh moved closer to Tyler and wrapped his arms around Tyler’s waist pulling his chest to his own.
“Thank you so much, Joshy.” Tyler rested his head on Josh’s chest and sighed into him. “I love you.”
“I love you more.” Josh brought his lips to Tyler’s and they both shared a sweet and loving kiss together. “Let’s head down stairs, yeah? Mom, Vic and Kellin are all waiting to see how you’re doing.” Tyler nodded and they ventured down to the kitchen where, in fact, everyone remained.
“Tyler!” Joan was the first to speak up. She ran over to the boy and brought him in for a long awaited hug. “I was so worried when Josh told me. Are you okay? Do you need anything? A drink or something to eat?” She let out.
“No, no I’m fine, Joan. Thank you though. I could use some of that soda though.” Tyler said, pointing out the orange soda that was on the counter behind her.
“I’ll get you some, dear.” She offered, getting a glass and pouring Tyler some. He drank a bit and set it down on the counter, sitting down in one of the chairs next to Kellin.
“Hey, man. How you holding up?” He asked, slinging and arm around his shoulder.
“I’m alright. Josh here has been making me feel better.” Tyler joked. He didn’t like when all of the attention was on him but he just had to roll with it for now.
“Yeah, I bet. He was the worse out of all of us, I think.” Vic added. Josh blushed and threw up his hands in defeat.
“Guilty as charged.” Tyler smirked and continued drinking his soda. All four of them sat there talking about random things, trying to get Tyler’s mind off of what happened. He was thankful for them because, had they not done that, Tyler would be in a horrible state and that was something he really didn’t want to experience.
—
Around 12 o’clock Vic and Kellin went home and Joan went to bed, leaving Josh and Tyler snuggled up on the couch.
“Tyler?” Josh said. He had one of his arms holding Tyler while the other played with his hair, being careful so he wouldn’t press a bruise.
“Yeah.” He said sleepily.
“I really love you and I’m sorry that happened to you.” Josh told him, reassuringly. He knew Tyler had been through a lot but this was just worse than he could ever imagine. Josh knew he’d have to be there for him more than he’d ever been in their 7 months of dating but he didn’t mind one bit. He was just glad Tyler was okay for now.
“I love you too, Josh. It’s okay…” Tyler drifted off into a sweet slumber and cuddled into the warm body under him. Josh smiled and turned off the light that was above them, going to sleep as well. He couldn’t visualize what school would be like the next day but he knew one thing for sure: He wouldn’t let Tyler out of his sight.
