Cyrus’ POV
“What is it you want to talk to me about Matt?” I asked nervously. He smiled, his white perfect teeth gleaming. His eyes shone brightly as he stared intensely at me, making my heart pound ever faster.
“Us.” He said coming towards me. I swallowed nervously… anxiously.
“W-what about us?” He grabbed my hands and leaned forward.
“I can’t hide it anymore Cy. I love you so much.” He was about to lean forward, then I heard him calling my name.
“Cy…Cy, wake up. Cy.” I was shaken awake, and I saw Matt watching me with a huge smile on his face. “About time. Why do you sleep so much?” Fuck, it was just a dream. Why must I dream such stupid dreams?
“Because I get tired, why else?” He laughed and shrugged. I sat up on the couch and he plopped down beside me. “What do you want? I was having a nice dream.”
“About me? I know I’m hot but damn Cy.” I blushed and hit him with a pillow.
“Shut up bitch.” He laughed and laid back on the couch.
“So, I have a question for you my good friend. I know you’ll say no, but I really really really really really–”
“Matt.”
“Fine. Mom and Dad are having this sports themed party for my birthday and–” I burst out laughing and shook my head.
“No way.”
“Please? I’ll give you a kiss.” As much as I wanted to say yes, I rolled my eyes.
“Just because I’m gay doesn’t mean I have a crush on you. How many times do I have to tell you?” He threw his arm over my shoulder and my heart skipped a beat.
“I know, I just like kidding with you. But seriously man, I need you there. You’re my best friend and it’s gonna suck without you there. Your parents are going.” I grimaced.
“You had me until you said my parents were going.” He laughed and ruffled up my hair.
“I know you’re allergic to sports and all, so I’m not going to make you do a lot. It’s my birthday also, and I would really like for you to be there. Because I just like to hang out with you.” He said a bit shyly, he’s so cute. And sexy and hot.
“Fine, I’ll go.” He grinned and picked me up. He pulled me into a bear hug and I laughed. “Okay, okay. You can put me down now. ”
“Thanks so much Cy. I’m super stoked for it. It’ll be this Saturday.” I groaned and he laughed. He’s always happy and in a good mood.
“I’m only going because it’s your birthday.” He nodded.
“I know. Let’s watch a movie. I choose since my birthday is coming up.”
“But your choices in movies suck. You always pick scary movies.”
“You always choose chick flicks.”
“I won’t this time I promise.” I poked my lip out and he sighed and smiled.
“So unfair, you know I can’t say no to that face.Fine, but seriously, no chick flicks.” I nodded excitedly and turned it on Netflix to chose the movie. “Okay, Benchwarmers is a good pick.” He got up and went to the kitchen, I’m sure to find something to eat. I paused the movie and followed him.
“Popcorn?” I asked and he nodded.
“Yeah, and chips. Oh and I’m staying over tonight.” I nodded and leaned on the counter.
“I thought Zoey didn’t want you staying over at my house anymore… You know, since I’m a fag.” His happy and smiling face turned into a glare at the wall.
“I broke up with her today. I don’t like her talking about you like that. I hate when people say things like that about you. You aren’t harming anyone by liking guys, why the fuck should they care? It isn’t their business anyway. I swear, the next person who messes with you will be sorry.” I smiled at him and shook my head.
“I don’t want you fighting Matt. Besides, it doesn’t hurt my feelings too much anymore. They don’t matter. Thanks for caring though.” He looked at me and his face softened.
“It did hurt you, and I don’t want to see you like that again Cy. Anyway, I’ll always be here for you. That’s what best friends are for, right?” I felt a stab in my heart as he called me his best friend. I nodded and smiled.
“Yeah, of course.” He went into the cabinet and took out popcorn and Cheetos. He put the popcorn in the microwave and opened the Cheetos. I watched him subtly, as he stared at the popcorn in the microwave. His brown hair was sweeped up, nice as always. He had grey and stormy eyes. Yet, he was always happy and upbeat unless someone messed with someone he cared about. His skin was so smooth and perfect.
His body… oh, don’t get me started on that. It was sculpted perfectly by the Gods. He plays football, and always works out. You can tell from his huge muscular form, and I sure as hell look whenever I can.
The great part is, he’s my best friend and he knows I’m gay. He doesn’t care that I’m gay, which is amazing. I get views whenever I wanna. Yeah, I’m that guy who’s fallen in love with his amazing straight best friend. I’ve been sitting here in love with him for two years, and I’ll probably never tell him. I sighed thinking about it and he looked at me with concern etched all over his face.
“You okay Cy?” I smiled and nodded.
“Yeah, I’m fine. I just wish the popcorn would finish faster.” He grinned and ruffled up my hair. I rolled my eyes and fixed it.
“Patience is virtue little dude. So you have a crush on anyone?” He asked me, still staring at the microwave. I watched as he leaned down on the counter.
“N–no. I mean, everyone at that school is straight. Most of them hate me.” He frowned and turned to look at me. Summer had just come though, so school was out.
“They’re stupid because there’s nothing to hate about you. You’re a great guy Cyrus. It’s their loss.” The microwave beeped and he grinned while taking it out, completely forgetting about the conversation.
He got a big bowl and poured the Cheetos and popcorn in it.
“Ready?” I nodded and we went back to watch the movie. I sat down with my legs crossed on the couch then started the movie. I scooted over, close to Matt and took some popcorn and Cheetos out of the bowl, tossing them into my mouth.
“You’re going to fall asleep aren’t you?” I scoffed and shook my head.
“No, of course not. I’m not even tired.” He laughed and nodded.
“You’re totally gonna fall asleep.” I rolled my eyes and he ruffled up my hair. I whined and fixed it.
“I told you to stop doing that. It makes me look crazy.”
“Dude you just woke up.” I shrugged.
“Oh well, I don’t want you touching my hair whore.” He laughed again, see what I mean? Always happy.
“Okay, I’ll leave it alone.”
“Thank you, my Prince Charming.” I said sarcastically. He grinned widely.
“You’re welcome.” I turned my attention to the movie, occasionally grabbing some popcorn and Cheetos.
I remember when I told Matt I was gay, a few months ago. Man, I was so afraid.
I paced around my room thinking about what I’d say.
“Okay, Matt, I don’t know how you’ll feel about this but I’m gay…No that won’t work…” I ran a hand through my hair and sighed. “Matt, I know it’s kinda weird but I like guys.” I sat on my bed and groaned. “What the hell am I supposed to say? I’M FUCKING GAY, I LIKE THE DICK!”
“Woah, dude…” I looked up and Matt was at the door looking at me. I jumped up quickly.
“Uhh, hey… You heard that?” He nodded and walked into the room all the way. He sat at my computer chair and began spinning.
“Yeah, I won’t tell anyone, it’s cool. So what’d you want to talk to me about?” My mouth dropped and I stood there staring at him. He stopped spinning and stared right back at me curiously. “You gonna tell me?”
“Matt, that was it.” He looked at me then burst out laughing.
“That was the BIG thing you had to tell me?” I nodded, looking at him confused. “Dude, I might not be the brightest guy, but that’s obvious. You think I don’t notice how you stare when I take my shirt off?” I waved him off and laughed nervously.
“I totally do not.” He nodded and winked at me.
“Of course you don’t. Anyway, I don’t care, it doesn’t freak me out. I mean, you’re just looking, it doesn’t hurt me. Besides, we grew up together. I couldn’t hate you.” I smiled widely and hugged him.
“You’re the best Matt, seriously. I didn’t expect you to take it that well.” He laughed and shook his head.
“Aww look, you’re being nice to me… Seriously dude, I don’t know why you expect me to be angry. I swear if anyone messes with you, they’ll go through me.” My heart warmed at the sound of that. He’s so sweet, this is why I love him. I can’t imagine not having him in my life.
“Thank you Matt. It means a lot to me.” He smiled and nodded, and we went on through the day.
I felt myself being picked up and I woke up immediately.
“Matthew!” He chuckled and continued walking with me thrown over his shoulder. What a perfect view of his ass.
“I told you not to fall asleep.” I groaned and started hitting him in his back.
“Put me downnn.” I whined.
“Nope. Also… That doesn’t hurt. You know you’re a bit small and puny.” I rolled my eyes, but of course he couldn’t see it.
“I’m gonna pinch your ass.” He stopped walking.
“Don’t you dare, you know it’s sensitive.” I grinned.
“Mhmm, I bet it is. Guess I’ll see.”
“Cy, no! I’ve got to-” I pinched him and he farted. My face scrunched up and he dropped me on the ground.
“MATTHEW!” He broke out into a run and I jumped up and ran behind him.
“I’m sorry! I tried to warn you, and I didn’t mean to drop you either!” I ignored him and continued to chase him around the house. “The pinch hurt so bad, I had to rub it. Come on man! Please!” I was getting close and I lunged towards him, flying onto his back. We both flew to the ground and thankfully I landed on top of him.
“Hmm, what a soft landing.” He groaned and laughed.
“Yeah for you.” I sat up and just sat on his back as he laid on the ground. I breathed heavily, God I was tired. I never run. Anymore.
“Bully.”
“Says the idiot who farted in my face.” He chuckled and started getting up. I straddled his back, and stayed on as he got up.
“You’re not going to get off?” I scoffed.
“No peasant. I had to run behind you. Do you know how tiring that is? I deserve an award!” He shook his head at me.
“Cy, I don’t know how you’re so small if you do nothing but eat and sit.” I shrugged.
“I’m magical bitch.” I rubbed my face in his hair and he chuckled. It’s so soft, what can I say?
“Man you’re weird.”
“Then why are you my best friend?” He shrugged.
“I was forced, you made me. ” I got off his back and looked up at him.
“Then leave me peasant.” He ruffled up my hair and was about to say something but the front door opened.
“Cyrus, we’re home.” I groaned and Matt looked at me apologetically. I hurried and got the bowl and tried to run to the kitchen, but that’s where they were. Dad looked me up and down then scrunched his face up. I tried to hide the bowl behind my back.
“Son, what is that in your hand?” My mouth opened, but instead I heard Matt’s voice.
“I’m sorry Mr. and Mrs. Young, I had the bowl. It was my fault, I’ll take it.” He took the bowl and brought it to the sink. My parents are nice to Matt, but they don’t let up on me when he’s here.
“Oh, hello Matthew. It’s nice to still see you here after hearing about Cyrus’ choice of being a homosexual.” Dad said turning his nose up at me. I put my head down in embarrassment. My parents just found out I told Matt. I told them the same time as him, but they didn’t know because they’re always gone. I had to call them, and they were livid. Well, Dad was….
“There’s nothing wrong with him, he’s the same guy I grew up with.” They raised their eyebrows at him, but chose to ignore it.
“Cyrus, tomorrow, I have you set up to be groomed for the party Saturday. I need you to look presentable. Your hair is getting too long, and you’re starting to look homeless. I’ll have what you’re wearing out too. I don’t want you wearing any of those weird clothes you like to be seen in. Do you understand?”
“Yes mother.” She nodded and turned to Dad.
“You are dismissed.” He told me. I pulled Matthew away with me and we went up to my room. I sat on my bed, embarrassed and he sat beside me.
“If they weren’t your parents, I swear I would say something. I hate them, I’m sorry you have to deal with that.” I shrugged and gave him a small smile.
“I’m kinda used to it now.” He ignored it, because he knew I wasn’t really used to it. It hurt, and he knew this. Why don’t we just go to Matt’s house you ask? Trust me, we’d be over there if I could. Mom told me that they wanted me home today. I know they didn’t.
“You know what she said isn’t true? You’re not weird and it isn’t a bad thing that you’re gay. Just ignore them. When you’re done with that bullshit tomorrow, come over to the house and stay there. You can stay there after the party too.” Today was Thursday, so we have two days until the party.
“Thanks Matt.”
“I’m always here for you man.” He grinned and ruffled up my hair again. I rolled my eyes but laughed.
We talked, played around, and watched TV until I fell asleep.
