———–WARNING! This will probably be the weirdest shifter story you ever read in your entire life. This is also boyxboy, which means gay gay GAY. There will also be sinful scenes in later chapters, so if any of the above make you squeamish, too bad, read it anyways. 🙂 Moving on———-

 ~Winter~

Oh, my god, what the hell is that?

I wrinkled my nose in disgust at the small creature before me, it’s fluffy brown fur sticking out at all ends. It was panting, which is definitely dog like, but it doesn’t look like a dog. It looks like a furry, hideous, rat creature.

No, definitely not a dog.

I mean, I would know a dog when I saw one, right? Considering I am a dog. Now, I know what you may be thinking. How can I be in the mind of a dog? Dogs don’t think words, they only think ‘Woof, woof!’ Not me. I guess i’m not a regular dog either.

I’m a shifter, which means I shift into an animal and a human. Only, I was supposed to be a full blown wolf shifter, except due to some ‘cross-breeding’, yes you can shiver in disgust, in my bloodline, I turned out to be pretty half-assed. I was the weakest in my litter, so I was thrown out. I’m still not very big. About the size of a husky.

I would gladly turn into a human in a second, except I don’t know how to. I was never taught anything, ever, by anyone. I know how to be a human, since I grew up with them, but I don’t know how to become a human. It’s so frustrating.

Anyways, back to business here. My female owner, Sidney, has presented my master and I with a small-er-thing, that she says is now her dog. I looked at Asher, my master, and he shrugged. He looked about as disgusted as I was.

“Uh, Sidney, what the hell is that?” See, we even think alike! We must be connected. I know it.

“Asher, don’t say it like that! This is Cookie, and she’s the cutest little Pomeranian I have ever seen! Isn’t she gorgeous?” He wrinkled his nose, sticking his hands in his pockets.

“That’s not exactly the word i’d use, Sid.” She scowled at him.

“Don’t listen to him Cookie, you’re beautiful.” She knelt down and stroked ‘Cookie’s’ fur, cooing. “Now, Asher, bring your big dumb beast over here and introduce them so he doesn’t eat Cookie.”

I snorted, licking my lips just for fun. Asher nudged my furry white shoulder, snickering.

“Okay, okay. Winter, I know she looks like food, and is named after food, and I won’t blame you if you accidentally swallow her-”

“Asher!” He laughed.

“-alright! Winter, don’t eat the thing. It’ll hurt Sidney’s feelings, and the neighbors will never stop thinking you’re a monster if you run around with blood on your chops.” I huffed, looking down at Cookie with disdain. She panted, looking unconcerned.

I sniffed her curiously, circling her like they expected me to do. I didn’t sniff her butt, that’s gross. I may act like a domesticated pooch for their sake, so not to freak them out, but there is no way my shnozz is going up this dog’s butthole.

After thoroughly inspecting her, I sat back down beside Asher and heaved a sigh, knowing I would now be forced to live with this little ball of fuzz.

“See? He’s fine, Winter has better taste than to eat your little fluff ball.” I swear, our brains are one and our thoughts are coming from our intertwined souls.

“Fine. He better not pee on her or anything stupid either.” Oh, but now I want to!

Asher grinned, taking a hand out of his pocket and running it through his short brown hair. “He won’t. Probably. I’ll talk to him, okay?” Sidney nodded, looking relieved. Asher ruffled the fur on my head and ran upstairs, and unspoken challenge to race.

I beat him, obviously, and he glared when he reached the top. I huffed proudly, wagging my tail.

“Yeah yeah yeah. You’re still a fatass Winter.” He brushed past me, pouting heavily. If I could laugh in this form, I would have been rolling. I settled for barking happily, following him into his room when he opened the door. I hopped on his bed and buried my head under the pillows, basking in his scent.

What? His scent is like, the best smell ever. Ever

“Winter, knock it off. You’re getting your fur everywhere.” He pulled a pillow off my face and looked down at me. I looked up at him, my ears back and my chin on my paws. That’s right folks.

The puppy dog look.

He squirmed for a moment, looking away. I whined a little and he looked back at me, biting his lip.

“AW ALRIGHT COME HERE!” He jumped on the bed and lay next me, cuddling me to his chest. I barked, licking his cheek. He laughed, shoving me away and looking at me.

“Winter, you know you can’t eat that dog.” I huffed again, this time irritatedly. Did he really think I would eat the dog? That’s disgusting!

“Okay, I know you won’t eat it. Just don’t pee on her, or sit on her, or carry her off and hide her somewhere no one will find her. Deal?” I let out a playful growl, putting my head down and rubbing my paws over my face.

“Good, we have a deal then.” I looked back up at him, surprised to see a slightly scared look on his face. I whined, licking his cheek again. He sighed, staring back at me with nervousness in his dark brown eyes.

“Winter…sometimes, you really act human. Like you can understand what i’m saying to you. I wish there was some way animals could talk. I’d love to know what goes on inside that head of yours.” I gazed back silently, wishing the same thing.

I always wished there was some way I could just shift to a human, and be with Asher. I…I love him, I really do. That may sound weird, but I don’t care. I’m only a dog on the outside. If I was in human form…oh my, the things I would do to this boy.

More importantly the things I would say to him, all the things I want to tell him. If we could have just one conversation, it would be the best day of my life. I would tell him how much I loved him, I wouldn’t waste a word saying anything else. Just once, if I could speak to him…

“Well, I guess if you could talk, you would have by now. I love you Winter. I’m gonna go take a shower, i’ll be back in a bit.” He kissed me on the top of the head before grabbing a towel and his pajamas and heading out of the room and into the bathroom. I watched him sadly, resting my head on my paws once again.

I love Asher so much. He’s always been there for me. He took me in when I was on the streets, just a rejected pup with no one to love. I was there for him when his parents kicked him out for being…oh what was it called…’gay’. Liking males. I left with him to go and live with his sister, my female owner Sidney, who is much nicer than his parents.

That’s why I wish I could talk back when he talks to me. Sometimes, when we’re in his room at night, he cries…he just cries onto my shoulder, for his parents, for the people at his ‘school’ who hurt him, for everything that’s caused him pain. Those are the moments I wished I could speak the most.

I would tell him how I would never hurt him. I would tell him that no pain he ever felt would have to be endured alone. I would never leave him, and I could tell him that everything would be alright, when he cried onto my shoulder at night…

Suddenly the doorbell rang, and my ears perked up. WHO THE HELL IS THAT? WHY ARE THEY AT MY HOUSE OH MY GOD I WILL KILL THEM I SWEAR. I got up and ran as fast as I could down the stairs, and up to the door. I growled at it, waiting for Sidney to open the door.

I heard a loud yelp, and felt something under my foot. I looked down, and realised I had accidentally stepped on Cookie, the creature I had been repeatedly forbidden from digesting. I lifted my paw, watching curiously as it yipped and ran off.

A few moments later Sidney came in with the thing in her arms, scowling at me as the doorbell rang again. I instantly went back to growling at the door.

“Move, you great oaf.” She nudged me out of the way with her knee, opening the door. I peeked around her leg, surprised to see nobody. But it wasn’t what I saw-or didn’t see rather-that caused my hackles to raise and my upper lip to curl back in a defensive snarl.

Sidney looked confused, glancing from me to the door. “Winter? What is it? No one’s th-hey! WINTER! COME BACK HERE!” I had bolted past her and out the door, following my senses to the threat I was smelling. I could feel it.

Another shifter was here. And they were calling me out to a challenge. I could care less about what ever challenge they had in mind, but them being here puts Asher in danger. And I will not stand for that.

I ran like I had never run before, out of the neighborhood and into the night. I didn’t know where I was going, I only knew I was being led somewhere. I passed street lamps, and fortunately no humans as I ran down the sidewalk.

Eventually I arrived at a small park, panting from the amount of running I had just done. In seconds I was face to face with an enormous man, shocking me as his scent was mainly of wolf. I crouched low and growled, to which he waved a hand. He had no hair, but his head was covered in the skin drawings I believe to be called ‘tattoos.’

His eyes were a brilliant yellow, and the hand he waved to dismiss my growl was decked with black claws. “Now now, none of that young one. I am no threat to you, although I look and smell like one i’m sure. My name is Tobias, but you may call me Toby, if you ever see me again that is.” I snarled, urging him to get to the point.

“Tsk tsk. Impatient I see. Very well then, I shall make this quick. Winter, is it? Ah yes, your spirit confirms. You are the wolf who has found his mate. It’s well that you have, you wouldn’t last long in this form anyhow.” I growled viciously at his words, more in confusion than in threat. What is he talking about?

“I am going to let you shift, young one. Your love for your mate shines through in your spirit. When you are a human, you are to protect and care for your mate. If you don’t…well, you will turn back permanently. Do you understand?” He asked, his eyes piercing mine with an intense and very serious look.

I didn’t know how else to agree but to stop growling and straighten up. He…he’s going to turn me into a human? Can this be real?

“I see you understand. Winter, I need you to be very still. This will only hurt for a moment.” Suddenly two of his fingers were pressed to my forehead, a warm sensation spreading through me. It got hotter, and hotter until it felt as though my mind was on fire.

A pained howl ripped it’s way through my body, shaking me to the core. I was on the ground now, his hand placed gently on my head. “Sleep now, child. It will all be anew when you wake.” The last thing I saw before darkness took over was the sight of his bright yellow eyes burning their way into my memory.

———-Whew! My first ever shifter story! How did I do? I told you it was gonna be hella weird. Anywho, we learn more about Asher in the next chapter, since it’s in his point of view 😀 Tell me what you thought! Point out mistakes, flaws, etc. If you think it sucked, It’s only the first chapter. The awesome parts are yet to come, muahahaha———-
