A Jungkook x V story…
“OPPA!!” Female students shouted as the kingka of the school, Jungkook, walked along the corridor.
The screams did not stopped even until he reaches his classroom. And as usual, his desk was piled with gifts from his admirers. There were soft toys, sweets and some hand-written cards. Before he could sit down, a petite girl stood in front of him and gave him a box of chocolate.
“Oppa, for you!” she blushed, “I hope that you could accept my love. Feel free to contact me whenever you’re lonely, my number is inside the box.” Not waiting for a reply, she dashed out of the classroom with her hands covering her red face.
“Wow another girl?” J-hope, Jungkook’s bestfriend, awed and hung his arm around Jungkook’s neck. “She’s the twelveth confessor this month?”
Jungkook simply shrugged his shoulders before throwing the box to Jimin, “Hyung, your favourite chocolate.”
“Isn’t that too mean?” Jin, who was sitting in front of him, asked. Jungkook did not answer, but just put his bag on the table and lie his head on it to sleep.
J-hope shook his head and replied on his behalf, “He’s just maintaining his bad boy image. The worse he treats those girls, the more the girls love him.”
RM went up and joined in the discussion, “I bet almost all the girls in this school has already confessed to him and he did not accept a single one, although some are really very hot. I really don’t know what is wrong with him… Don’t tell me he’s a gay?”
Everyone in the classroom immediately turned their heads upon hearing the word ‘gay’. Jungkook too, heard it but did not have any reaction. Luckily, the subject teacher came in time to break the discussion they were having.
“Don’t tell me he’s gay?” This question kept repeating in Jungkook’s mind during lesson. Am I really gay? He closed the textbook and looked outside the window, recalling what happened when he was five-year-old.
Flashback – when Jungkook was five year-old
“Taehyung! I’m coming to find you. You better hide properly,” Jungkook shouted across the playground.
Spotting a leg under the slides, Jungkook went up and peek underneath. “Hah! Got you!” Jungkook cheered.
The two boys jumped excited and hugged each other tightly. “I win again!” Jungkook exclaimed and gave Taehyung a peck on his lips.
*End of flashback*
10+ years had passed but the memories were still vivid in Jungkook’s mind. Taehyung was his childhood friend; they spent their childhood together but got separated when they reached elementary school. Jungkook’s family moved to the town area while Taehyung’s family remained at the countryside.
And that was his first kiss; their first kiss. When he was young, he showed his affection to Taehyung by kissing his lips. Nobody told him it was wrong to kiss a guy, he just knew that kissing was between two who love each other and that’s how he feels for Taehyung.
Soon, it was lunch time. Kingka Jungkook and his clique were welcomed with a series of high pitched screams as they entered the canteen and sat at their usual table. Girls turned to look at the six handsome guys with heart-shaped eyes, taking pictures of them and fangirling with their friends.
“I’m gonna get some food,” Jungkook stood up and said.
As he walked to the food counter, he could hear a familiar sound behind him. “Oppa!” she shouted. Out of curiosity, Jungkook turned back to find the same girl who confessed to him in the morning, holding two cups of coke. When she’s about 50m away from him, he saw a leg stretching out of a table purposely, causing her to trip and fall. And of course, the drinks in her hands spilled directly towards Jungkook.
“Watch out!” someone warned and blocked in front of Jungkook. It was a nerdy guy with big black frame spectacles, almost the same height as Jungkook. He managed to protect Jungkook from the coke and got his uniform drenched with it.
The canteen filled with applause as this mysterious guy actually saved the kingka from danger. “Are you okay?” Jungkook asked.
“Ne, I’m fine,” the guy answered and showed his rectangular smile. Without a word, he ran out of the canteen and headed to the toilet. Jungkook looked at his uniform to see a small stain on his sleeves and immediately checked his precious bracelet. It was a handmade bracelet he valued the most, and luckily, it was alright.
Wanting to thank him properly, Jungkook followed behind the nerdy guy. Opening the toilet door, Jungkook saw him washing his uniform with water. “Change to this,” Jungkook said and threw him a set of new uniform. After nodding his head, he simply took off his glasses and stripped in front of Jungkook. Despite looking nerdy, he actually got a set of well-trained body. Awkward Jungkook just stood there, occasionally peeking at that abs and blushed.
“Thanks for saving me. What’s your name?” Jungkook asked, without looking at him directly.
“My name is V. And you’re welcome!” he replied, showing that attractive smile again. V got dressed and continued washing his own set of uniform.
Jungkook did a slight smile and joined him in washing the small stain on his uniform.
“Thanks to you, my bracelet is free from the coke. It is very precious to me and I’ll probably turn crazy if anything happens to it.”
“I saw you protecting the bracelet when you almost got splashed. Is it something important to you?”
Jungkook let out a deep breath and replied, “This is actually from my childhood friend but we got separated 10 years ago. There was no news about him and this is the only thing I have from him. We actually have the exact same bracelet and I’ll always look at it when I miss him.”
“Seems like he’s someone important to you…”
“He’s my first love. Oh wait, we didn’t even have the chance of becoming a couple. When I was young, I thought that that was just friendship kind of love; but as I grow up, I realised that it wasn’t. But sadly, he’s no longer by my side and I didn’t even have a chance to confess to him. He’s probably on the other side of the world dating some hot chick.”
“He’s not.” V whispered to himself but Jungkook did not catch it due to the school bell, signalling the end of the lunch period.
“Oh well, I guess I got to go. I’m sorry for spilling out my own personal business, probably because you kinda resemble him when you take off your specs. Hope to see you again, annyeong!” Jungkook winked and dashed out of the toilet.
V didn’t even get to reply and Jungkook simply disappear in front of him.
V splashed his face with his cold water before looking at the mirror, “It’s me Kookie, and thanks for telling me how you feel. I would never let you go again.” V took out the exact same bracelet from his pocket and let out a sigh.
And there is Jungkook, surviving his second half of the day with boring lessons. He recalled the unexpected incident during lunch time and smiled to himself. “Why did I even tell everything to a stranger that I just get to know; things that I didn’t even tell my hyungs. If he leaks out everything, telling everybody that I’m gay, I will be so screwed.”
One month later…
It was the day of the prom night. The six members of Bangtan were all dressed up formally, especially Kingka Jungkook who looked super dashing with just a suit and tie. Girls were fighting to be his partner for the night but he simply rejects them with a poker face.
As they reached the ballroom, the six guys got an exclusive table on their own. The party went on all night, and soon, it was the most anticipated period of the night. Slow and romantic music filled the whole room and everybody knew that it was time for the couple dance. All of his hyungs has found a lucky girl to pair with, except Jungkook who had totally no interest in dancing. He just sat there, enjoying the music, sipping his drink occasionally.
As he looked at the dance floor, he saw a familiar figure which cause him to stood up. It was V, in the middle of the crowd, having difficulty to coordinate with his partner. Ever since the last toilet incident, the both of them did not met at all. Not that they purposely ignore each other, nor did they purposely look for each, they just continue with their normal life and put that unexcepted episode at the back of their mind.
Jungkook had some feelings for V, probably love at first sight, but he convinced himself that it was because V resembles Taehyung a lot and that he didn’t really love V.
Jungkook unbuttoned his suit and loosened his tie before approaching the dancefloor. Squeezing between all the people, he finally made it beside V.
“That’s not how you do it,” Jungkook whispered and took V’s hands. The girls surrounding them were shocked, with their jaws dropping. V was surprised too, especially after Jungkook put his hands behind his back and started to lead him.
“Follow me,” said Jungkook and he started taking small steps front and back.
Instantly, it felt like they were the only couple dancing on the dance floor, with spotlight shinning on them. V was dumbfounded, but his legs went with the flow. The others also regained their composure and continued dancing, trying to ignore the male couple.
“Why didn’t I see you in school?” Jungkook whispered.
“I…I was busy.” V gradually look directly at Jungkook and made eye contact.
“Busy with what?”
“Missing you.”
Jungkook was taken aback with the answer, and continued asking, “Why didn’t you come and look for me then?”
It was silence. Suddenly, the music changed, into a pop song. The disco lighting was on and everybody instantly switched to party mode. Cheers were heard from all parts of the room and people showed off their dance moves. Girls too, attempted to approach the Kingka, pushing V to aside.
Not finishing his interrogation, Jungkook peeked through the tiny gaps to see V being push away by the girls. He immediately squeeze through the circle of girls, held onto V’s hand, and dashed out of the ballroom. They kept running, until they reached the rooftop where there’s no one to bother them or judge them.
“Okay now, answer my question,” Jungkook demanded, “Why didn’t you come and look for me even though you missed me?”
V was still panting from the run. His heart was beating like crazy, unsure whether it’s due to the sudden exercise or was it due to the fact that his dream finally came true – his dream of talking to Jungkook again.
Jungkook was staring anxiously at V. If this was an examination question, he would have spend several minutes deciding on what’s the perfect question but now, he ain’t no time to think about it. His love is standing right in front of him, but he knew that one wrong word from him would scare Jungkook away.
“I was confused,” V stuttered.
“Confused about?”
“My feelings for you.”
“So…did you figure that out already?”
“Ne.”
“What…what was it?”
“I love you, I really do,” V confessed.
Jungkook froze. Wasn’t that the answer he wanted? But now, why isn’t he feeling happy? He totally did not expected that.
Jungkook hesitated for a while before replying, “I’m sorry. I can’t accept your love.”
“Why not?”
“I told you before, I can’t forget my childhood friend…”
“But I-“
“It’s all my fault. I shouldn’t have pulled you out and make you confess to me despite knowing that I can’t accept you. As much as I love you, I cannot betray him.”
“So does it mean that if he’s standing in front of you, confessing to you, you will accept it?” V asked, lifting Jungkook’s head up. As he reach out his hand to touch Jungkook’s face, V’s sleeves were pushed back, revealing the same bracelet on his wrist.
“That bracelet…” Jungkook stuttered as he took a closer look, “where did you get this?”
“It’s always by my side.”
“How? Don’t tell me that you are…”
“Ne. I am Taehyung, Kim Taehyung. Your childhood friend, or I should say… your first love.”
Jungkook blushed and started to link all the clues to prove that he’s Taehyung. How could he not realise that his love is always by his side? A tear dropped from Jungkook’s eye as he took off V’s spectacles.
“Why didn’t you tell me that you are Taehyung?” cried Jungkook.
“I did not have to chance to say. I was actually planning to tell you my identity when I saved you that day. But, after hearing your confession, I changed my mind. I was wondering if reappearing in your life was a good decision. You’re the kingka of the school, where all the girls fall in love with; but me, I’m just a nerdy guy that no one ever remembers. I did not want to ruin your life.”
“But why now…?”
“I guess… I, too, cannot hide my feelings for you. I was difficult not wanting to take the longer route to class just to pass by your class and catch a glimpse of you. I was difficult not to find a chance to talk to you at the canteen or outside school. The set of uniform you lent me that day is still in my wardrobe, nicely washed and ironed, but I did not have the courage to return you. But I have waited long enough and I was afraid that after prom night, I might not be able to see you again. And hence, I decided to confess to you especially after you approached me during the slow dance, I was more certain that I want to tell you how much I miss you and how much I want you to be mine.”
Jungkook could not be any happier after realising that his ‘school crush’ is actually his childhood friend and he surprisingly felt the same for him. He shook his head in disbelief as the side of his mouth curved upwards. Jungkook’s hands went to the back of V’s neck and put them closer, nose touching nose.
“Why didn’t you tell me earlier? But well, it’s better than never!” Jungkook bit his tongue before pressing his lips against V’s. He closed his eyes as he tasted the soft lips he had longed for since childhood. He could also feel V’s lips curving into a U shape.
Overwhelmed by the love for each other, Jungkook tangled his hands in the older’s hair while V hung his hands over the younger’s neck. Their passionate love lasted for eternity for them, and like any other fairy tale stories, theirs is also a happy ending, except that there are now two princes.
