A Rap Mon x Jin story…

Namjoon walked out of his bedroom with a untidy hairdo, and his shirt half tucked in. It was rare that Namjoon woke up so late in the morning, and the reason behind it is most probably being him burning midnight oil last night.

As usual, Jin was at the kitchen, scooping out rice for his just wake up dongsaeng. Namjoon looked left and right to find the dorm exceptionally quiet, indicating that the maknae line is either still asleep or is already out.

Namjoon made his way to the dining table and sat down, with a bowl of rice already in front of him.

“Hyung, where are the others?”

“The three maknaes went out to cycle; while Hoseok and Yoongi went to the company. We did not want to wake you up as Yoongi told us you were working on a song until 5 am in the morning.”

“Ahhh so we’re the only one at home?”

“Ne.”

On the table were dishes specially made by Jin and all were heated up again just for Namjoon. “Eat faster before it becomes cold again,” Mama Jin instructed.

As told, Namjoon gorged down the food that was in front of them, clearing every dish perfectly. Meanwhile, Jin was sitting opposite him, staring at his dongsaeng as he suck all the food like a vacuum cleaner.

“Swallow first before eating again…you will choke on it sooner or later…”

“But it’s very nice hyung.”

Jin displayed a satisfied smile as he looked at the clock. It’s 12pm in the afternoon. Everything is going as planned and I knew what’s the next thing to do. Quietly, he went back to his bedroom and took a quick shower.

After drinking the last drop of the kimchi soup, Namjoon looked up to see Jin missing. “Hyung!!” he shouted across the house.

“Ne?” a reply came few seconds later while Jin coming out of the bathroom with a towel on his head.

“Hyung, can you help me get one more bowl of the soup?”

“It’s in the pot there, can you get it yourself? I need to dress up.”

“Dress up? Wae? Are you going somewhere? Can you bring me along?”

“Errrr not very convenient Namjoon.”

It was the first time Jin is going out without giving much details on his plan. And the fact that Jin couldn’t bring Namjoon along made him even more suspicious.

Out of curiosity, Namjoon went into his hyung’s room. Jin was wearing a relatively formal outfit, even tying a necktie for the matter, that makes him even weirder.

“Are you gonna meet someone hyung?”

“Ne.”

“Someone important I guess.”

“Ne.”

“Mind telling me?”

“Ermm promise me you wouldn’t get angry.”

“Okay…I promise.”

“So, this is what happened. My umma called me few days ago and told me that she had arranged a blind date for me. She said that I’m not getting any younger and I should be getting a girlfriend soon. She claimed that this girl I’m meeting is the perfect choice for me and I ought to go.”

“But…I thought you don’t like girls?”

“True, but…I’m not very sure too. Maybe meeting her would change my mind and I’ll probably gain my interest in girls again?”

“Wae? Shouldn’t you believe in yourself and follow what your heart tells you?”

“It’s easier said than done Namjoon. And he…probably…doesn’t feel the same way as I do so…”

“How do you know?”

“I don’t. But it’s okay, I’ll just try this blind date as a opportunity to make new friends. Don’t worry, I’ll be fine.”

“But I’m not fine…” Namjoon whispered but apparently Jin didn’t catch that important part. Jin was too busy packing his bag and styling his hair.

Heart broken Namjoon dragged himself out of the room and sunk into the sofa. He heaved a deep sigh as he reached for the remote control. Probably doing something else might distract him from the fact that his crush is gonna meet some new girl.

However, as he pressed the remote controller, the television did not on. He tried it multiple times and the television remained black. Panicked, he quickly call his hyung for the rescue, “hyung, the television isn’t working!”

“Jinja?!?” In a second, Jin rushed to the living room and touched every possible cable connecting to the television. He even went to the storage room to check if there is a power storage. While Jin is running round the whole house, Namjoon was sitting on the sofa, praying hard that he wasn’t the one who spoil it.

“Namjoon!! Thanks to you I might be late for the blind date!!” Jin grumbled as he continued to fix the television.

Late for the blind date? A lightbulb above Namjoon’s head suddenly light up and I knew exactly what to do now. If I keep distracting Jin hyung and prevent him from leaving the house, he might probably be late for the date and even decide not to go in the end. Wonderful plan Namjoon!!

“Hyung, do you have battery in your room? The remote control probably have no batteries that’s why.”

“Battery…” Jin muttered as he rushed to his room and opened every single cabinet to find. And after fifteen minutes, he brought out two new batteries and threw it to Namjoon, “try it!”

However, it still didn’t work after changing the batteries. Despite being very happy in the inside, Namjoon had to act troubled as he continued to think of ways to fix the television. “Maybe there’s something wrong with the plug?”

“Arghhh mo la! You should just ask Yoongi to fix it when he gets home. I really need to get ready or else I’ll be very late!!” Jin cried.

“But hyung!”

Before Namjoon could stop his hyung, Jin had already shut his room door. He looked at the clock and sighed. If he doesn’t do anything now, Jin would still be able to make it for the date!!

He looked around the house and the second lightbulb flashed in a second. He rushed to the kitchen and took one of his favourite cups. “Mianhe, for my happiness, I can only scarify you Mr Cup.”

Without hesitation, Namjoon dropped the cup on the floor which caused a “crang” sound.

“What’s that?!?” Jin shouted from his room.

Namjoon knew he’s gonna be in deep shit but isn’t this what he wanted? In no time, Jin, who is now well-dressed, sped to the kitchen with his arms crossed. “Okay…what happened again?”

“I…I accidentally dropped the cup.”

“Well done Namjoon! Out of so many days, you chose today to destroy everything in the house?”

“Mianhe hyung.”

“Arghhh I’ll get the broom and you should stand at the side and do nothing, arraso?”

“Ne hyung.”

Feeling extremely guilty as he caused his peaceful hyung to rage, Namjoon wanted to do something to salvage the situation and his sixth sense told him to clean up the mess himself. Squatting down beside the broken pieces, he reached out to gather all the pieces into a pile. Probably too nervous that his hyung might be angry at him or lacking common sense, Namjoon actually used his bare hands to pick up the pieces.

And the next thing he knows, Namjoon got a deep cut on his middle finger. “Ouch,” he groaned softly, not to alert his hyung. He thought everything was under control except the pain on his finger until blood started oozing out. He tried to wipe it off with his other hand but the blood did not stop flowing out.

“What happened??” Jin screamed at the top of his voice, high-pitched even, when he saw his dongsaeng’s hand full of blood.

“N-nothing hyung…”

“Nothing?? You look like a murderer now Namjoon!!”

“Ayyy not that serious, I just merely cut my finger…”

Being even more scared than the one who’s injured, Jin quickly sped off to fetch his first-aid box while ordering Namjoon to sit on the sofa and NOT TOUCH ANYTHING ELSE.

“Okay, let me see.” Dr Jin sat beside his dongsaeng and took out some tissue to clean off the blood. “Tell me if its painful.”

“Erm…it became numbed already.”

“MWO?? Oh no, that’s bad.”

“No no no, just…not that painful now.”

In silence, Namjoon looked at his hyung who is now attentively treating his cut. Jin had a serious expression on his face and when he saw the deep cut on Namjoon’s finger, he cringed.

“Is it very painful??”

“Aniyo, it’s bearable. But hyung…your shirt…there’s blood stain on it. Ettokhae?”

“Gwenchana, I don’t plan to go now.”

“Mianhe hyung, it’s all my fault.”

“Aniyo that was an accident.”

“I broke the cup on purpose hyung.”

“Why did you do that?”

“Because…I wanted to stop you from going to your blind date. I don’t want you to meet other girls.”

“Wae?”

“What if you fall in love with them?

“I won’t.”

“You would! And you would leave me behind…and I don’t want that to happen. Because I want you to be mine.”

“Namjoon…”

“It was until you said that you might be getting into a relationship with a girl, I tried to imagine life without hyung by my side and it was Error 404. I realised that I can’t live without you and I want you to be mine, forever and always.

“Come here my precious,” Jin, who was on the verge of crying upon hearing such touching confession, said.

Jin pulled his dongsaeng in for a tight hug, patting his head as smiles appeared on both of their faces.

Namjoon looked up and pouted, “don’t ever leave me hyung.”

“Hyung promise you that I’ll never attend any blind date ever again, except for our date.”

“Jinja?”

“So Namjoon ssi, will you be my date?”
