The Philippines has the highest rate of new HIV infections across Asia Pacific, according to the UNAIDS Global Report 2017 just out today!!! PHILIPPINES – 141% while everyone is experiencing a decrease.
“Across countries in the region, there is a significant variation in new HIV infections trends – steep reductions in annual new infections occurred in Thailand (50% decrease) Viet Nam (34% decrease) and Myanmar (26% decrease) between 2010 and 2016, while annual new infections significantly increased in Pakistan (39% increase) and the Philippines (141% increase) over the same period.”
“HIV prevalence among people who inject drugs was 42.8% in Cebu City, Philippines, 50.8% in Kasur, Pakistan and 65% in Bamaw, Myanmar.”
