•Chapter 4•

They look at me with a shocked expression.

“Dayton –” Stiles says, probably having no words to describe what he is feeling. I could see the sorrow in his eyes.

“When did this happen?” Scott asks gently as I turn back to my natural eye colour.

“The alpha bit me, Peter back at the school night.” I say, turning back and not making eye contact.

“Hey, it’s okay. We will help you.” Scott says placing an arm on my shoulder and bringing me in for a hug.

While Stiles just stayed silent, which is odd for Stiles.

I walk to my first class with coach, oh coach such good memories. Not.

As I step inside the class, the known voice calls for me.

“Barnett! Good to see you back.” He says as I smile at him sarcastically after hearing him mumble a ‘kill myself slowly’.

I take a seat behind Stiles, placing my bag on the floor next to my feet. Let the normal teenager routine begin!

I take out my brand new book for this subject economics as well as a pen. I open my blank book and open it to my first page as people were still coming in. Some even greeting me back.

“Hi Dayton.” I hear, I look up to see my formal date, Danny.

“Oh, hi.” I say with a smile on my face before he opens his mouth to continue de conversation but Coach interrupts him.

“Sit down everybody.” Coach says making Danny sit down and look forward. “The stock market is based on two principles. What are they?” Scott’s hand shoots up. ” Yes McCall, you can go to the bathroom. Anybody else?” Coach says.

“Uh – no coach, I know the answer.” Scott says making Coach laugh which made me raise my eyebrow at the older man.

Coach stops laughing as he noticed the seriousness in Scott’s face.

“Oh, you’re serious.” Coach says. Bingo! What’s up with this teacher-student confidence.

“Yes, Risk and reward.” Scott says naturally as Coach probably got surprised by his answer which is in fact correct.

“Wow! Who are you? And what have you done to McCall?” He waits on a response but quickly jumps in. “Don’t answer that. I like you better. I like you better.” He repeats. “Does anybody have a quarter? A quarter.”

I search deep into my pockets finding no quarter. I look up to see Stiles doing the same thing and saying ‘yep’.

He roughly pushes the quarter out bringing along with it a squared package. It falls on the floor making a somewhat loud noise. I look down to see ‘XXL condom’ I close my eyes.

I’m not jealous, I mean, ok maybe I am, 50%. But he told me he only went down there to get wine. Apparently he had other ideas in mind.

I open back my eyes to see Stiles looking at me with pity in his eyes. I don’t make eye contact making Stiles turn back to the front. Coach walks closer and picks up the condom.

A part of me is also surprised. XXL? Wink wink.

“Stilinski – I think this is yours.” Coach says placing the squared package on Stiles’ desk. “And congratulations.” Coach says before his eyes also land on my blue ones. Oh gosh. I hope he didn’t think that was used on me or was supposed to.

I look down to my book and pretend to be interested on my blank page.

After everybody calmed down about the ‘virgin had a condom in his pocket’ drama, the coach went back to his lesson.

“Risk and reward. Put the quarter in the mug, win the reward. Okay, watch coach.” Coach heads to the front of the class, positioning himself to throw the quarter. We hear the sound of quarter in the floor and then it hit something round. The cup.

Everyone starts clapping, including me.

“That’s how you do it!” Coach say. He did a good job. He moves towards Danny’s table and puts it in front of him. “Danny. Risk, reward.” Coach says.

I rest my elbow on the wooden table and my head on my fist while looking at Danny’s response. I wonder what this has to do with economics.

“What’s the reward.” Danny asks something which I had been also curious of.

“You don’t have to take the Pop quiz tomorrow.” Coach says and I smile at his stupidity.

“Coach, it is not a Pop quiz if you tell us about it.” Danny says obviously stating the obvious.

“Danny, you know, I really expected more from you at this point. Really.” Coach says moving on to Scott’s table.

“McCall.” Coach says placing the quarter in front of my best friend. “Risk or reward. The risk: if you don’t put that quarter in the mug, you have to take the pop – the – the quiz and… you have to write an essay. Risk, more work. Reward… no work at all.” Coach says while Scott takes it all in while playing with the quarter in his hand.

“But isn’t that just chance?” Scott asks looking up at the Coach.

“No. You know your abilities, your focus, past experiences… all factors affecting the outcome. So what’s it gonna be, McCall? More work, no work or choose not to play?” Coach asks once more.

Scott takes a minute before placing the quarter back down at the table.

“No play. Okay who’s next?” Coach says moving on from Scott’s table. “Who want’s the quarter?” Coach asks. His eyes land on Stiles’ Hazel ones and moves towards him.

“Stilinski?” Coach asks the no longer buzzcut. “Why don’t you try it out.” Coach says. “Not even for a laugh.” Coach says.

“Fine.” Stiles spoke with a little bit of sadness in his words. I don’t know what is going on with him. After I told them my secret, he’s quieter then usual.

Stiles gets up and walks towards his position, Coach goes also following him, he walks closer to the mug to see if it goes in.

Stiles points the quarter in his hands towards the mug while sticking his tongue out as a method of concentration.

The door opens to see Sheriff Stilinski there. My eyebrows rise as I wonder what the police is doing here.

“Stiles.” Stilinski spoke.

“I got it coach.” Stiles says still with his eyes on the mug.

“Stiles.” Stilinski spoke once more, quickly getting Stiles’ attention who straightens his back and walks towards his dad who brings him outside of the classroom to speak.

I look towards Scott and he looks back at me shrugging. I look back paying attention at the class, stealing glances outside from time to time.

I pick up a bag of ice and make my way towards the bathtub. Right now, we were at the vet, Deaton’s work place.

I empty the bag of ice onto the bathtub, along with me, Derek, Stiles and Scott which were also emptying bags of ice onto the bathtub.

“Isn’t it funny?” I ask looking at Deaton, I don’t remember him much last time I was here. “Day and dea, Dea and Day.” I say, sourwolf rolls his eyes and Deaton just slightly smiles before going back to his convo with Isaac.

Isaac is also a werewolf. He is going on the bathtub so that he can remember where Erica and Boyd are.

We stop throwing ice onto the bathtub.

Tonight is the full moon and I can’t be even more worried. I’m scared of what will happen to me tonight. Last full moon I had to be held dowm by three people to stop from attacking someone.

“How slow does his heart rate need to be?” Scott asks, Isaac kneels down, placing his hand on the icy water. Wincing due to the cold liquid.

“Very slow.” Doctor Deaton responds.

“Well, how much is very slow?” Derek asks.

“Nearly dead.” Deaton says calmly.

“Interesting.” I let out.

“It’s safe though, right?” Isaac asks looking up.

“Do you want me to answer honestly?” Deaton asks.

“No, not really.” Isaac mumbles looking back at the bathtub.

“You will be fine.” I say. “Hopefully.” I mumble making Isaac look back at me.

“What?” I ask in which he doesn’t respond.

We hear a slap, we look back to see Stiles playing with one of those hospital protective gloves. He notices it.

“What?” He asks innocently. I smile at his adorableness. Cutie pie. He roughly pushes out the glove from his hand and throws it to the side before walking towards us.

Isaac stands back up and looks worriedly at the bathtub.

“Look, if it feels too risky, you don’t have to do this.” Derek says. That’s probably the sweetest thing that came out of his mouth. He cares.

Isaac roughly takes out his shirt leaving him shirtless, he places both hands on each side of the bathtub before placing his first step onto the icy water, he slowly sits down. Surely that must hurt.

Scott and Derek hold Isaac down onto the water. Moments after he is battling agains’t their grip. I get a hold of his feet along with Stiles.

Isaac finally calms down and floats back go surface slowly. He really seems dead.

“Now, remember only I talk to him. Too many voices will confuse him and draw him out. Isaac? Can you hear me?” Deaton asks slowly and quietly while the rest kept quiet keepig an eye on Isaac.

“Yes.” Isaac speaks clearly and slowly. “I can hear you.” He adds.

“This is doctor Deaton. I’m like to ask you a few questions. Is that alright?” Deaton asks.

“Yes.” Isaac responds.

“I want to ask you about the night you found Erica and Boyd. I want you to remember it for me in as vivid detail as possible, like your there again.” Deaton says.

“I don’t want to do that.” Isaac starts to panic, he starts to move around. “I don’t – I don’t wanna do that.”

“Isaac, it’s alright. Just relax. They’re just memories. You can’t be hurt by a memory.” Deaton says making me think about that last phrase.

“I don’t wanna do that.” He kept saying.

“It’s alright.” Deaton says. Slowly calming Isaac down.

“Now let’s go back to that night. To the place you found Erica and Boyd. Can you tell me what you see? Is there some kind of building? A house?” Deaton asks.

“It’s not – it’s not a house. It’s stone. I think marble.” He speaks getting everyone’s attention.

“That’s perfect. Can you give me any other descriptions?” Deaton asks.

“It’s dusty. So empty. Like an abandoned building.” Isaac says.

Isaac starts moving around obviously starting to panic as the lights flicker.

“Isaac? Isaac?” Deaton asks.

“No, no, no. They see me!” Isaac says in panic.

“Just memories. You won’t be hurt by your memories. Just relax. Relax.” The doctor says before Isaac starts to actually become calmer. “Good. Now tell us what you see. Tell us everything.” Deaton says.

“I can hear him. He’s talking about the full moon, about being out of control when the moon rises.” Isaac says as he has the attention of the whole room.

“Is he talking to Erica?” Deaton wonders and asks.

“I think so – I can’t – I can’t see either of them.”

“Can you hear anything else?” Deaton asks the cold boy.

“They’re worried. They’re worried what they’ll do during the full moon. They’re… they’re worried that they’re gonna hurt each other.” Isaac says making me feel sorry for both people of Boyd and Erica.

“If they’re locked in together, they’re gonna tear each other apart.” Derek whispers, but making everyone able to hear him.

“Isaac, we need to find them right now. Can you see them?” Deaton asks.

“No.” Isaac responds.

“What kind of room is it? Is there any kind of marker? Number on a door? A sign?” Deaton asks.

“They’re here. They – they –” Isaac starts freaking out.

“It’s all right.” Deaton says trying to make Isaac calmer.

“No.” Isaac continues to freak out.

“Just tell us…” deaton starts before being interrupted by a freaked out Isaac.

“They see me. They found me. They’re here.” Isaac shouts freaking out.

“This isn’t working. Isaac, what do you see?” Derek asks.

From there everyone just started shouting. Actually just Derek and Deaton.

It obviously confused Isaac.

“I can’t see them. It’s too dark.” Isaac says.

“Just tell me where you are.” Derek says in an intimidating voice.

“You are confusing him.” Deaton says.

“I can’t see!” Isaac says moving his head around.

“Isaac where are you! Tell me where you are!” Derek says getting out of control.

“His heart rate! He could go back to shock!” Deaton says in hope to stop Derek but no luck.

“Derek, let him go!” Scott says getting closer.

“Isaac, where are you? What did you see?” Derek continues to ask.

“I see a dead body. It’s Erica!” Isaac lets out makig everynody’s eyes widen. “A vault! It’s a bank vault!” Isaac says before he wakes back up. “I saw the name!” It’s uh – Beacon Hills first natiomal bank. It’s, um it’s an abandoned bank and they’re keepig them locked inside, inside the vault.” Isaac say after getting out of the bathtub and getting a towel to put around his cold body. “What?” He says looking around confusedly.

“You don’t remember what you said right before you came out of it do you?” Stiles asks.

“No.” Isaac says hugging his cold body.

“You said when they captured you that they dragged you into a room and that there was a body in it.” Stiles continues to explain.

“What body.” Isaac asks wondering.

“Erica. You said it was Erica.” Stiles says and now it was Isaac’s turn for his eyes to widen.
