I wake up to Vic’s alarm going off. I groan and cuddle up to Vic who is reaching over to grab his phone. He turns the alarm off and kisses my head.
“Come on baby, we have to get up.” Vic murmurs.
“But I don’t want to.” I whine, tangling my legs with Vic’s. He’s so warm.
“Kell, your boner’s digging into my leg.” Vic chuckles.
“My what?” I ask confused.
“Your boner.” Vic says slowly.
I give him another confused look then look down at his leg. My eyes go wide and I shuffle back a little.
“Wh-what?” I stutter out even more confused than before.
“You don’t know what a boner is, do you?” Vic asks and I shake my head. “Um, well, uh. I think Papa should have this conversation with you.” He stammers out. “But you’ve got nothing to worry about. It’ll go away.”
I nod still with wide-eyes.
He chuckles and kisses my head again.
“Relax.” He smiles.
He rolls out of bed and goes over to his drawers. He pulls out clothes then leaves the room to go get changed in the bathroom. I get out of bed and quickly get changed. My “boner” does go away but I’m still confused and uncomfortable. That was a little embarrassing.
I go downstairs and into the dining room where Mama and Papa are talking in hushed voices.
“I think it has something to do with Kellin.” Mama says as I sit down, listening even though I shouldn’t.
“Maybe he just needed a friend. He’s not normal old Vic but we keep seeing glimpses of that.” Papa says.
“The first time I saw that boy smile in nearly a year was when he was talking to Kellin.” Mama smiles fondly.
They then end the conversation as Vic enters the room. He’s now dressed in a button up plain white shirt and black jeans. He looks so good. He flashes me a smile and I quickly stop myself from staring.
“Oh boys, I made pancakes. They’re on the counter in the kitchen.” Mama smiles and I nod, getting up and following Vic into the kitchen.
Instead of grabbing pancakes, he grabs my hips and pushes me against the counter then he pulls me into a kiss. I snake my arms around his neck and kiss him back.
“You’re so beautiful.” He murmurs as he pulls away and he brushes some hair out of my face.
I blush and look down as my stomach flutters.
“Stop blushing, you’re killing me.” Vic breathes making me giggle and bite my lip.
He runs his thumb over my bottom lip, pulling it out of the grip of my teeth.
“Don’t do that either.” He mumbles, staring down at my lips.
He then kisses them softly one last time.
After that, he puts some pancakes on a plate along with maple syrup and then gives it to me. He gets his own pancakes and we walk together back into the dining room.
“How did you boys sleep?” Papa asks kindly.
“Fantastic.” I grin.
Sleep has to be one of my favourite things about living here. I’m not sleeping in a basement and I have a bed with pillows and blankets. I get to sleep next to someone as they hold me and kiss me goodnight. I’m not constantly scared that I’ll get in trouble if I sleep. The bags that were under my eyes when I got here have not returned and that makes me so happy. I always feel like I have so much more energy and I feel like sleep is also affecting my mood.
“Yeah, yeah good.” Vic mumbles. “Papa, you and Kellin need to have a conversation at some point.”
“A conversation? A conversation about what?” Papa asks confused looking between me and Vic.
I bite my lip and look down embarrassed, subconsciously checking that I don’t have another boner. How did I get that thingy anyway?
“Kellin needs The Talk.” Vic explains and Papa nods seeming to understand.
“Oh well okay.” He smiles kindly, looking at me. “We’ll chat later, okay kiddo.”
I nod with a smile and continue eating my breakfast.
After breakfast, we say goodbye and Mama and Papa get emotional once again when Vic hugs them. We leave the house and Vic drives us towards the school.
I just stare at him as he drives. He’s so attractive. I feel like he’s much too good for me. I’m confused as to why he didn’t have a boyfriend when we met. He’s definitely attractive enough to have whoever he wants.
“Kells, you’re staring.” He says with a nervous chuckle as he glances at me.
A simple glance makes my heart flutter.
“I know.” I smile. “I like staring at you. You look great.”
He chuckles and blushes a little.
“Vic, am I allowed to kiss you at school?” I ask, curiously.
Vic thinks about it for a second before nodding.
“Yeah, I don’t see why not. Everyone already knows I’m gay. You just can’t do it in class because that’s against the rules.” Vic explains and I grin, happy that we don’t have to hide our relationship much.
A frown forms on his face as he drives into the school parking lot then he turns to me.
“Are you sure you’re comfortable with people knowing that you’re gay? I get bullied a lot for being gay, the same might happen to you. I won’t let you get hurt, I promised you that, but I cant stop people from saying mean things.” Vic explains.
The thought of people being mean to me scares me for a second but then I remember back when I was living with my parents and I don’t feel so scared anymore. They did bad things to me and called me horrible things, I’m sure I can handle other people calling me names. Besides, Vic and I get more time as a couple so it’s totally worth it.
“Yep. I’m okay with that.” I smile and Vic smiles back before he pulls me into a kiss.
After the kiss is over, Vic wraps his muscly arms tightly around me and I rest my head on his chest.
“You’re really wonderful, do you know that?” Vic mumbles.
“I do now.” I grin.
“Good. Never let anyone tell you otherwise. You’re so special, Kell.” He whispers making my heart ache and my stomach do somersaults.
I nuzzle myself into his chest more then he kisses my head and pulls away.
“We should get to class. You have art now, don’t you?” He questions and I nod. “Are people nice to you in that class?”
“They don’t really pay me any attention but no one’s mean so that’s good.” I smile.
He smiles and nods.
“Do you like art?” He questions and I nod eagerly.
“I do but I miss you a lot. Mr. Gordon says that I have natural talent but I should improve on my shading. Can I draw you something today?” I can’t help but to get excited when I talk about drawing, it’s so much fun.
“I’d love that.” Vic grins. “Come on. We better get going before we’re late.”
“What do you have when I have art?” I ask curiously as we get out of the car.
“Legal studies. It’s an absolute bore.” He laughs.
With Vic by my side, I’ve completely forgotten that I was anxious to go back to school.
—
I wait for Vic patiently, standing in the door of the classroom. He told me not to leave until he could come and get me. He seems a little anxious when it comes to leaving me alone after what happened last time.
Vic was right. Everyone has already forgotten about my little accident and moved onto the next piece of gossip. I think it was something about Nicole and Alex breaking up. But I don’t know.
Vic shows up with a lovely smile on his face. That smile brightens up my day.
“Hi Angel, how was class?” He chirps, taking my hand as we begin walking down to the cafeteria.
“It was great.” I beam. “I drew this for you.”
I hand him the paper and he looks down at the drawing of him in awe.
“Kellin, this is so detailed. You’re so talented.” He says dreamily.
“Thank you.” I blush. “Mr. Gordon let me keep the original but he had to photocopy it so he could asses me on it.”
“You did this for an assessment? Why did you need to draw my face for an assessment?” Vic asks confused with a little chuckle as he continues to stare down at the picture of him.
“I had to draw something that made me happy.” I shrug.
He looks at me surprised and then his face softens.
“You make me happy too.” He murmurs and my heart swells.
“Good. I like it when you’re happy.” I beam.
He gives me an adoring smile as we walk into the cafeteria. We get out food then sit at an empty table.
We eat and talk a little until I notice Vic nervously glancing at something. I look up curiously and see a girl looking at us.
“Who’s that?” I question.
“Nicole.” Vic frowns. “She Alex’s girlfriend. I think she’s pissed off at me for getting Alex suspended.”
I keep looking at Nicole until she starts walking over to us. I slide closer to Vic, feeling a little scared. I don’t like angry people.
When she approaches the table, she doesn’t look angry. She looks pretty chirpy and she’s staring at me.
“Hey, you must be new. I’m Nicole.” She purrs.
“Uh, Kellin.” I mumble.
“Look, I’m going to get straight to the point. Would you like to take me out for dinner Friday?” She asks biting her lip and I look at her confused.
“Why would I want to do that?” I question completely dumbfounded.
“Because I’m hot, you’re hot, we just kind of go together. I wouldn’t pass this up, it’s not very often that I ask guys out.” She says, flicking her hair behind her.
I glance at Vic who’s looking down seeming pretty pissed off.
“Aren’t you with Alex?” Vic asks, gritting his teeth.
“Was I talking to you, fag?” She spits. “But if you must know, Alex and I broke up.”
“So you’re trying to use Kellin to make him jealous.” Vic says rolling his eyes.
“Oh shut up, so what will it be Babe?” She asks turning back to me, the word ‘babe’ making me uncomfortable.
“No thank you. You’re mean and I have a boyfriend.” I murmur, taking Vic’s hand and resting my head on his shoulder.
His tense body instantly relaxes. Nicole huffs and turns around.
“Ugh the good ones are either gay or taken. In this case both.” She grumbles.
She looks back and glares at Vic as shes walking. Vic chuckles a little as he squeezes my hand.
“Look at you throwing shade.” Vic laughs.
“Throwing what?” I question confused and Vic shakes his head amused.
“Never mind. Looks like you’re a ladies man, Kell.” He grins.
“But I don’t want to be a ladies man.” I frown. “I just want to be your man.”
Vic grins and kisses me, making me smile as he pulls away.
“You are my man.” He murmurs.
I giggle feeling giddy as I lean into him more.
“You need to stop being so cute.” He whines wrapping his arm around me.
“Why?” I giggle.
“Because it makes me want to hold you and cuddle you forever but I can’t do that until we get home.” He sighs.
“I’m sorry.” I grin, blushing.
“You should be. I think a punishment is in order.” He smiles before kissing me.
My stomach churns as he says “punishment”. What’s he going to do to me?
“What kind of punishment?” I ask, a lump in my throat.
“You’ll see.” He smirks.
The rest of the time we’re at school, I’m filled with anxiety although I don’t let Vic know that. What’s he going to do? I didn’t mean to make him angry.
