— Sieun! Can you come and taste it?

The duo had arrived at Sieun’s house about half an hour ago since he had said that it was better if they both ate at his house, the boy’s father was away anyway, they weren’t going to have any interruptions at home, and that was what Sieun wanted at that moment.

The boy got up from the kitchen stool, he had spent almost ten minutes sitting there, watching the girl move around the kitchen, she talked, telling him some anecdotes about her life, like the time she met Sooho, or rather, the time she broke Sooho’s nose, when she almost put her own eye out at her grandmother’s house, or when she almost ended up in the correctional facility with Sooho because they entered private property without even knowing it.

When Sieun stood next to Heejin, he managed to see how there were quite a few things on the counter in the place, in addition to the ramen she was making, there was a little bit of kimchi, some vegetables and other things that he didn’t know how she had gotten in such a short time, mostly because he was sure he didn’t have any of that in his refrigerator. — Oh, come, taste it. — The girl called when she noticed him next to her, she put the spoon in front of him so he could try the food.

When he did it, he swear he had never felt his taste buds come to life in his mouth. The taste of the food was splendid, so much so that Heejin could notice how the boy was silent for a second, but his eyes looked at the spoon in her hands and they had a strange glow to them.

He liked it, well done Heejin.

She thought, smiling when she saw that look in his eyes, she put the spoon aside before turning off the heat and beginning to serve what she had on the two plates she had previously taken out.

— You did that?

The girl looked at him when he spoke, almost offended by his question. —Hey, you saw me do it, never doubt my culinary skills.—  She told him, starting to take the plates before the boy followed her, taking the others that were in the place, when they were both at the table, ready to eat, Heejin took her chopsticks, taking something from a small container in middle of the table.

Sieun squinted, looking at the food, it didn’t look unpleasant, but he didn’t know what it was, and it made him distrustful. —What’s that?

— My special dish, it has no name, I made it one day and I liked it… Do you want to try it? — Sieun looked at the food before seeing the girl, sighing before deciding to please her, she had put too much effort into making the food for him not to want to try it.

Then, the boy nodded, and was going to open his mouth, hoping that the girl would feed him like she usually does, like in the restaurant a few days ago, however, this time, she just handed him the plate before she started to eat, Sieun pursed his lips and looked at her for a second, feeling a discomfort in his stomach, however, he took the food, it was good, very good to tell the truth, he didn’t know that the girl had that culinary touch that was very difficult to get.

— How often does your father cook? It seems like you just bought that refrigerator, there are only bottles of water in there… — Heejin asked when she finished swallowing the bite she had brought to her mouth, Sieun saw the position she had to eat, her feet were bent, she is sitting with both legs crossed in the chair.

It’s going to be difficult for her to digest.

Placing hid eyes on her face again, he could see how she was looking at him with curiosity, however, he also noticed the small stain of sauce on her jaw.

She really can’t eat without making a mess right?

The boy did not answer, standing up from his chair, leaving Heejin confused, however, she saw him return a second later with a couple of napkins and leave them on the table. — Do not cook.

— No? And… What do you eat then? — She asked, looking at the kitchen behind her, in that place there was not even a vegetable in good condition, she had been lucky to find some, but everything else was practically garbage, she did not understand how he survived.

— My father doesn’t spend time at home, he travels too much and I don’t have the same cooking skills as you, so… I buy instant ramen. — Heejin waited for him to continue, but when she didn’t hear any more, her mouth stopped in the process of chewing when he simply continued eating, the girl’s chopsticks left her mouth in surprise.

— And that’s it? Do you live just eating ramen? — Sieun nodded without giving it much importance, listening to how the rain was getting stronger, mostly because the drops were hitting the living room window. The girl really wasn’t pleased with that answer, maybe she didn’t have the healthiest diet, but she never skipped meals, sometimes she didn’t have an appetite, but she still ate something.

For her, food was the most vital thing in someone’s life, and for him to tell her that he didn’t eat was like an offense to her. — How do you study so much if you just eat ramen and water? I feel like Sooho every day if I don’t eat correctly… — The girl began, mentioning her friend, which made Sieun blink and look down at his plate.

Why does she have to mention him every time she speaks? Was there no other person to make comparisons with?

—…Is that why you have that color? — The boy raised his head when he heard that, leaning a little in confusion, what color? — Hey, in my eyes you are an attractive boy, but I have to admit that you are pale, I always thought it was your natural color because you didn’t sunbathe or because you are always wearing that sweatshirt, but now that I know it’s because you don’t eat… I don’t know how to feel… Should I cook for you?

— I’m not going to ask you to cook for me…

The girl smiled, leaning a little on the table to get a better look. — I know, but I’ll do it anyway, I won’t be calm knowing that you’ve only been eating packets of ramen all day… Do you know how bad that is for your health? At least you won’t get dehydrated… — She muttered the last thing, Sieun watched as she returned to her food, shaking her head while muttering something else before she suddenly leaned a little on the table, almost scaring him. — What do you think about going to my house for dinner tomorrow?

— I have intensive classes.

— Hey, it’s not like I make dinner at five in the afternoon, besides I have to do something too, we can eat together when we get back… — She shrugged her shoulders, trying not to sound so needy for the boy to say yes — Although I think Sooho will come tomorrow, it’s Friday, he comes on Fridays

The boy felt that disgust in him again upon hearing that name. — You and Sooho… You’re pretty close. — Sieun suddenly blurted out, playing with the noodles on his plate, Heejin looked at him, noticing him more serious than normal, but she still responded.

— I’ve known him for several years now, he’s… My only friend really… — She began to think, it was true, Sooho had been the only one she had connected with, becoming good friends immediately. — I broke his nose on the first day of school about… Four years ago.

Sieun was a little curious suddenly. — Did you break his nose?

— It was totally his fault, his face was on my head, I didn’t know he was behind me, when I picked it up, I hit him, I didn’t think it had been such a hard hit… — She said, playing with her chopsticks while grimacing before seeing the boy. — But when the nurse couldn’t make the bleeding stop and they took him to the hospital, I knew I had made a mess, I apologized to him and he told me that in order for him to forgive me he had to hit me and break my nose too, to be close at hand, from that moment I knew we would be good friends, although I still had to pay the medical expenses.

Sieun remained silent at that, the girl had smiled throughout the entire story, as if that were a good memory, and although the boy felt a little upset because the oldest had come up as a topic of conversation, he couldn’t concentrate on that when he noticed the girl’s small smile, he admired her for a long time while she told the story.

Her pretty teeth matched the line of her smile, making it charming, her eyes closed a little from the smile and her cheekbones rose with the laughter she let out.

You already fell Yeon, good luck.

The boy denied, pushing those words away, sighing to pay attention to the girl again, and so the hours passed, the girl telling stories while he listened and admired the girl’s facial expressions, speaking as little as possible, not because he didn’t want to answer, more because he wanted to continue listening to the youngest girl talk about anything that in the end he didn’t even understand what it was about, he just wanted to continue watching her talk non-stop, he found it, in some way, relaxing, completely forgetting about the storm that there was outside, that he would sleep alone in his house again, that he would do it tomorrow and the day after tomorrow, forgetting that he had to do homework for the intensive classes.

Suddenly, he forgot everything.

The hours passed, the dinner ended, the talks too, the girl had to leave and that did not please the boy very much, who had gain the energy to stay awake for longer while listening to her speak, but he knew that he could not keep her for so long. Tomorrow they had school and although he knew that the girl would say yes if he proposed to continue talking, he was not going to do it, he couldn’t.

What will you do when she runs out of topics to talk about?

That was why they were both now at the door of the girl’s apartment, saying goodbye. Even though she lived one apartment away from his, Sieun wanted to accompany her, according to him, they were on a date, a boy should accompany his date home, so that she would be safe.

That’s what he had read.

— Thank you for paying for dinner, the chef did a great job. — The girl praised herself after the thanks, making Sieun nod, feeling warm upon hearing her amused tone, the girl smiled at him when she saw his face again, having an immense desire to jump at him and squeeze hus cheeks. — Well, if you ever want to eat something, other than ramen and water, you can always tell me, you know.

— Thank you… — He said simply, he didn’t know what else to say, he didn’t know how, in reality, he had many things to say to her, but he simply couldn’t think of how it should come out of his mouth. — It wasn’t a very fun date for you, and…

— Oh, it was… I like to cook… Maybe next time you can cook for me…

Siuen grimaced, imagining the scene, not wanting to get to that point. —I don’t think you’d enjoy a date in a hospital at the end of the night…— Heejin laughed, that would be quite fun, out of the ordinary, nodding. — Don’t call Sooho. — That made the girl stop her smile, not understanding what he meant by that, frowning, she asked for an explanation. — He said that at the end of the night… You would call him to come to your house… Don’t do it, don’t call him.

Silence Moon Heejin, don’t shout.

— Uhm, I’ll think about it, have a good night, kitty.

— Yah, stop taking your anger out on my arm, idiot. —  Heejin, who was trying to open a bag of candy, complained, trying to remove her arm from the reach of Sooho, who was playing something on his cell phone as well as Bumseok, Sieun on the other hand, was sitting in his seat as always, writing something in his notebook. The group was in the classroom, the teacher was out and they had taken the opportunity to laze around a bit, at least the three of them, Sieun was still with his head in his notebooks, however, Heejin had noticed that he was not using his headphones this time.

That is progress, right? At least we can think that it no longer bothers him to hear our voices.

In the morning, Sieun had spent almost half an hour standing in front of his door thinking about whether to go out and offer Heejin to go to school together, he had woken up with that need, however, when he heard her leaving her apartment arguing with Sooho, he was hoping it was by cell phone, he decided to go out and he could simply see how the girl was on the elevator before she was out of sight. When he arrived at the classroom, he didn’t see her or Sooho and although that left him thinking for a second, he decided not to give it any importance.

At least that’s what he thought, until he saw them appear in the room, almost hitting each other if it weren’t for Bumseok going between them. They were both carrying a bag from somewhere that Sieun couldn’t identify, but they seemed to be arguing about it. And he wouldn’t have felt a strange feeling if it weren’t for the fact that they both disappeared from sight after leaving their things on the desk and greeting him, they both left there and didn’t appear until classes started.

Jealous, Yeon?

When Yeonbing’s voice calling his name was heard, his head, like the entire room, fell silent. The gazes of the three people accompanying him rose, Sooho and Bumseok put down their cell phones and Heejin stopped putting gummies in her mouth to see the tall boy standing in front of Sieun’s desk, who looked at him with disinterest, he didn’t like being bothered when he was studying, much less for him to ask him to speak.

According to him, they had nothing to talk about.

Siuen’s eyes collided with Heejin’s for a second, as if he was asking for her opinion in some way, you already ask for her opinion? Aw, have you already planned your kids’ names too?

Looking away from Heejin, who simply grimaced since she didn’t really know what to think about that, Sieun cursed his head for making fun of his situation.

I’m confused, you should help me, you know?

— Hey what happened? — Sooho’s voice was enough to make Sieun come out of his thoughts, seeing the boy standing in front of him, he sighed, getting up from his seat, walking towards the exit, being followed by Yeonbing, before completely leaving the place. Sieun paused for a second, looking over his shoulder at the trio, Heejin looked at her friend before he looked at her too and shrugged.

— Is he calling us or…?

— Your boyfriend inviting us to his meetings? — Sooho scoffed, earning a punch from Heejin, who stood up with a sigh, almost pulling her friend by his shirt to get her up as well, following Sieun, who nodded as he saw the girl get up, although he really wished the boy was not attached to her.

And that’s how they ended up in the art room, it was empty, more so than because of the small group that was there now, Yeongbin was talking about a favor, that was, Sieun going to talk to his lawyer to prevent him from going to the correctional facility for having drugs in his possession and drug his partner.

Favor he asked Bumseok too.

— I want ramen… — Sooho’s voice distracted her for a second, turning to look at him, noticing his bored expression as he leaned his hands on the table where he was sitting, the girl’s hand went to his stomach, giving him a soft touch, as if he were touching a baby’s stomach, that was before giving it a blow, making him complain and bend a little, moving her hand away from his stomach somewhat roughly while cursing her a little.

Heejin laughed before watching the scene again, Sieun’s serious eyes went from Yeongbin to the duo of friends, who were already talking more calmly, to Yeongbin again, seeing him suddenly kneel.

That caught the attention of the friends, who looked from him to Sieun and vice versa before they both locked eyes, thinking the same thing. Ridiculous.

— Ah, this idiot, Heejin acts tears better. — Sooho said, seeing Yeongbin “crying” on the floor of the place, earning a push from his friend, who narrowed her eyes at the image of Yeongbin on the floor.

— Sieun… — Bumseok called, making Sieun look at him. — Should we just go give our testimony? It is not so difficult.

Sieun looked at the boy with glasses for a second before moving his eyes to the two friends, who were looking at Yeonbing on the ground with a disgusted grimace and mocking him while making faces. They didn’t seem to like the situation at all, although he wasn’t going to deny it, he didn’t like it either.

Moving his eyes to the girl, seriously, but deep down, and now consciously, he was asking her opinion. — For me, let him rot in a reformatory, but it’s your decision, baby. — The girl said, getting up from the seat she was in, her back was already hurting.

— Baby? — Sooho was surprised by that, watching as Heejin left the room with her arms crossed and as if nothing had happened, although inside she was screaming and almost crying out of shame.

Baby? Really Moon Heejin? Ah…

Sooho looked at the duo inside before deciding to follow her, she had to tell him some things. What does she mean with “baby”? Had something happened last night?

Thinking about it, Sooho opened his mouth, offended, she hadn’t called him last night to come to her house after their “date.”

Just like Sieun asked.
