EPILOGUE

7 years later…..

“come here princess” Rudra called his five year old daughter who was running behind her twin like she will kill him once she gets her hands on him.

“Daddy look he broke my tiara which you got me for my birthday!” She complained cutely to her father puffing her cheeks.

“I didn’t!!” Veer protested ,”it was a mistake….I was just playing with my football and it fell down”

Vaani threw a sharp glare at her brother and stepped closer ready to settle scores as Rudra held her hand.

,”I will get you a knew one” he said looking at broken tiara,”even better than this one”

“Really?” Her eyes brightened with excitement

“Really” he chuckled picking her up into his arms.

He knew that expression very well afterall he has witnessed it countless times on his wife’s face.

Out of their three children both the boys takes after him in looks and his daughter is the exact replica of her mother along with the same mischievous and open nature , and straightforwardness, except her dark eyes.

But the death stare which she just gave her brother is all Him. She got that no nonsense attitude whenever she’s pissesd from none other than her father, Rudra.

“I’m going to wake up mom” his eldest said particularly to no one. Going towards their room. Not interested in the usual drama of his younger siblings.

sometimes Rudra thinks their first born is too mature for his age to which Isha’s all time reply is “he’s exactly like his father”

While the twins are pure chaos , Daksh has the calmness of Rudra along with his gorgeous genes.

It’s still a little early, Rudra had just stepped out from the gym and saw the children fighting.

“Why’s everyone up so early?” Isha asked moving towards Rudra with sleepy eyes holding daksh’s hand.

He might look like his carbon copy but make no mistake he’s a complete Mumma’s boy.

Rudra has a suspicion that he sometimes deliberately tries to make him jealous when he get’s More of her attention than Rudra.

“Good morning” Rudra whispered kissing the top of her head as she wrapped her arms around him pulling him into a hug , placing her head on his chest.

“Good morning” she smiled snuggling more, he was just earing a tank top while she was still in her night pjs.

“Mumma , Daddy said he will get me a new Tiara” vaani said excitedly beaming at her mother still perched on Rudra’s arm “even better than the previous one”

“Really?” Isha looked up at her husband with amusement , ” that’s so nice baby, I wonder when will someone give me a gift too” she was teasing Rudra as she bit her lip trying not to give away her act.

Rudra leaned closer, his lips brushing her ear.

“You get me every day,” he murmured under his breath. “Isn’t that enough?”

She bit her lip harder this time, eyes sparkling as she glanced up at him.

“Barely,” she whispered back.

“Mumma tell me what do you want, I will get it for you!” Daksh said eagerly, before Rudra could respond.

Isha burst into a giggle and gently pulled away from her husband, crouching in front of her son.

“Awww baby, thank you” she said kissing his head before pulling him into a tight hug. He didn’t waste anytime before wrapping her little hands around her mother after all she is his favourite person.

“I’m just teasing your father but don’t tell him ok it’s our secret” she whispered in his ear.

He nodded his head quickly but not before giving his father a victorious smile.

Rudra exhaled slowly, leaning closer to Isha again as she stood up.

“You see that?” he muttered. “He’s been plotting against me since birth.”

Isha bumped her shoulder lightly against his chest, her fingers curling into his side.

“Stop being jealous,” she whispered, amused. “You’re still my favorite.”

That earned her a look-one that promised a conversation later.

“Yea everyone has a favourite child and I’m the extra one!” Veer complained dramatically crossing his arms.

Isha and Rudra share a look after many years of marriage and raising three children together they don’t even need words sometimes to communicate with each other.

Rudra moved towards his younger son who still refused to look at him.
And picked him up in his other arm.

“I thought someone wanted to go to the water park this Sunday, but it’s fine I will cancel the tickets” as soon as the words left his mouth there was a loud gasp.

“WE ARE GOING TO THE WATER PARK!!” veer shouted on the top of his lungs. His eyes wide with excitement and disbelief.

“Yea your mother told me that you wanted to go there” Rudra said casually moving towards the breakfast table,”but now that you are angry and don’t want to go I have to cancel them”

He dropped the twins in their respective seats before taking his seat beside Isha.

“No!! I’m not angry, don’t cancel them” Rudra bite back his laugh with a cough try to play cool.

“Ok now finish your break fast and get ready for school quickly, grandpa will drop you”

With a toothy grin Veer quickly dived into his breakfast.

Rudra picked up a bread and after placing the butter gave it to Isha as usual before taking the glass of orange juice for himself.

Daksh noticed his father’s actions and didn’t waste any time as he picked up another toast and tried his best to put butter on it while holding the knife with his little hands.

“Mumma eat this !”

Isha looked at the bread it looked like it was drowned in the sea of butter.

“Thank you” she smiled warmly taking it.

Rudra just raised a brow at her.
Silently communicating.

“I told you he’s trying to take my place”

Isha just narrowed her eyes,”don’t be ridiculous Rudra he’s just a child”

Rudra sulked shaking his head like a child.

She talks like he needs her any less than their children just because he’s an adult.

She leaned in slightly and whispered, just for him,

“Relax. No one can replace you.”

———————————————————

“Daddy?”

Vaani spoke as his father was busy in making her hairstyle.
While Isha was packing their bags.

Daksh was all ready and sitting on the bed waiting for his siblings.

“Yes princess”

Rudra answered

“How do you learn to make such pretty hairstyles, you know none of my friends Father knows how to even brush their hair”

He looked at his wife with a smile that was nothing but pure male satisfaction.

“I had practice princess, and practice makes the man perfect”

Isha’s lip curled into a amused smile knowing that he’s talking to her.

During her first pregnancy he tried his best to tie her hair beautifully and when the twins came in their life, this time he was all ready.

As their daughter grew up it naturally became his responsibility to take care of her hairs. Even if he needs to go to office early he never leaves the house before doing his father duty.

And vaani is equally stubborn, now she refuses to let anyone touch her hair except her father.

“You practiced it for me!” Vaani turned excitedly towards her father

“Yes princess, when we came to know that a little princess is coming in our lives, I practiced very hard” his gaze shifted towards Isha who was now listening to the father daughter conversation with all her attention.

From the moment she laid her eyes on her husband she thought of him as the most handsome man she has ever seen but he has never looked more attractive than when he’s with their children.

Her ovaries were doing disco dance as she tried to control her hormones.
Seriously Isha he’s your husband for god’s sake calm down it’s not like you are seeing him for the first time.

She chided herself taking a deep breath.

“Sometimes I was even hit for doing it wrong” like slippers, books, comb, pen , charger and so on. But he decided that he doesn’t want his daughter to be exposed to violence yet.

“It was just one time!!” Isha protested glaring at him , he just shrugged and went back to his work.

Vaani just giggled seeing their childish behaviour.

“Everyone is ready?” Isha asked as all the kids stood in line infront of her all ready. The three of them nodded in unison.

“Ok then go to grandpa he’s waiting for you” she said clapping her hands.

Veer almost bolted but Isha stopped him before he could,”where’s my goodbye kiss?” She asked with a raised bro.

Veer gave her a sheepish look before planting a kiss on her cheeks followed by Dakh and vaani.

“Are not you forgetting your dad!” Isha shouted behind him as he successfully ran downstairs before she could stop him.

“He will be fine mumma don’t worry!!” He shouted back.

Controlling him is like making a castle on sand i.e impossible.

“And he have the nerve to complain that I forget him” Rudra said dryly.

Isha stiffled a laugh. If anyone tests her husbands patient more than her is Veer.

God knows what will happen when he will grow up.

Until he gets out of the jail she will be fine. That’s not too much to ask for right?

“Where are you lost?” She blinked not realising when Rudra came so close.

“Kids” she didn’t need to say more as she rested her head on his chest.

“Don’t worry about them” he chuckled
Placing his chin on top of her head
“We should worry about those who tries to go against them”

“That was exactly what I was thinking” Isha laughed looking at him.

Before they could close the distance between them –

“ewwww…”

Isha turned towards the door where Daksh was standing trying to close his eyes with his hands almost seeing his parents kissing.

It wouldn’t be the first time though

“What are you doing here?” Rudra used that stern tone.

“I….veer forgot his diary….”

He bolted towards table and left the room after taking the diary.

“You still love them?” Rudra asked raising a bro.

“More than my life” Isha replied with a wide grin before taking him into a tight hug.

He couldn’t help but smile as he wrapped his arms around her.

She’s right he wouldn’t trade his chaotic little family for anything in the world.

Rudra was sitting in his office checking some files while his phone ringed.

“Is this Mr Rudra Pratap Singh?” the woman on the other side asked.

“Yes” he answered

there was a slight pause before the woman spoke again.

“Sir I’m your daughter’s teacher can you please come to the school”

In a heartbeat, the relaxed lines of his body straightened, alertness flooding his features.

“Did something happened to her?”

He asked his tone sharp and cold yet there was unmistakable fear beneath it.

“No…no , she’s completely fine” the teacher replied quickly.

A quiet sigh slipped from Rudra; that brief flash of fear had turned his blood to ice.

“Then?”

What could have possibly happened for them to call him if Vaani is fine.

“Sir your daughter was in a fight and that students parents wants to meet you”

Rudra couldn’t believe his ears.

But she’s just… five.

Shit he has to go there to find out what happened.

“I’m coming”

After ending the teacher’s call he dialed Isha’s number and informed her.

______________________________

“You should teach your daughter some manners!” the boys mother shouted stroking his head who stood there clinging to his mother still crying silently.

One side of his face a little red where Vaani threw a punch.

They are standing in the principal’s office now Rudra , Isha , Vaani and that boy with his parents. Including the principal who didn’t look too thrilled solving kindergarten fights.

But the boys mother insisted on calling vaani’s parents even though they tried to explain to her that it was just a little quarrel between children.

But she wasn’t ready to let it slide.

And she loves to shout.

“I want to talk to my daughter first” Rudra’s commanding voice cut through the room as he ignored the woman’s comment and met his daughter’s gaze.

His voice carried enough authority to silence the room instantly.

He crouched in front of Vaani, bringing himself to her eye level.

“What happened, princess?”
Soft tone. Steady gaze. No judgment.

His tone was soft but his expression remains neutral but he knew his daughter trust him.

Vaani looked at the boy with a glare silently cursing him. Because of him her daddy has to leave his work and come here even though it was him who was teasing her first.

Huh idiot

“Daddy he was pulling my hair even after I said no many times” Rudra’s eyes hardened but he remained silent

“than I got irrated…..and punched him” she finished. She didn’t want to hurt him badly it just happened in the heat of the moment.

“See… she’s telling it like you would be proud of her” the boys mother said accusingly throwing a hateful look at her which she returned with same dedication.

“My daddy spent so much time making my hair even though he was getting late for his work and he was RUINING them, it was his fault” the woman looked at her in shock but ohh she wasn’t finished yet.

“And my too said that if I don’t like someone touching me I should say no immediately which I did. But he didn’t stop”

There was pin drop silence for a moment in the whole office because all the adults knew every word she said was right.

“You heard her” Rudra spoke cutting through the silence.

“My daughter did exactly what she was taught-she set a boundary”

“But we understand he’s also a child and we definitely don’t want to see him hurt even though it was his mistake”

“We will talk to her about not using violence in the classroom but this matter is closed now” he said looking at the principal who just nodded.

His eyes shifted to the boy’s parents his father was just standing there silently looking tired he didn’t even bother to say anything the entire time.

“And if someone needs to be taught manners,” he added coldly,
“it’s not my child.”

The principal cleared his throat and nodded. “Yes… I believe this matter is settled.”

Isha exhaled quietly, pride swelling in her chest as she pulled Vaani into her arms.

“You did good, baby,” she whispered, kissing her hair.

Rudra was feeling proud of his daughter for standing up for herself.
He did feel bad for the boy too he wasn’t that heartless but the way his mother was trying to put the blame on him it boiled his blood.

“Goshh I’m so proud of her!” Isha whispered from beside. As they were waiting for Daksh to finish his last class so that can go home together.

“Yea I’m also getting deja vu but atleast this time the teacher wasn’t complaining about how he caught my wife cheating in the exam” Rudra smirked as he saw her eyes widening in disbelief.

“THAT’S SO MEAN!!”

“TAKE IT BACK”

“But it’s true” he bit the side of his cheek enjoying the moment

“It was years ago!” She puffed her cheeks crossing her hands looking in other direction.

The bell rang and children poured out of the classess.

Vaani’s smile widened as her gaze landed on her parents waiting for her. One of her friends followed her line of sight-and froze.

Rudra stood there in his charcoal-black suit, tall and intimidating, looking like a man who owned the entire school rather than someone merely visiting it.

“My daddy is handsome, isn’t he?” Vaani grinned proudly, noticing her friend’s reaction.

For her, her father was the most handsome, the most intelligent, the strongest man in the world.

The poor girl could only nod in agreement, awestruck.

After saying bye to her friend, Vaani ran toward her parents, who were now talking to her brothers.

“Princess what you did today was right but from next time if something like this happens if someone bothers you immediately inform your teacher don’t use violence” Isha said softly as they walked towards the parking

“Yes mumma she should have first told me, main usko or jor se mukka marta” Veer interrupted acting like the protective older brother even though he’s just five.

“Ohh and where were you when he was teasing our sister” Daksh scoffed who was walking infront of them.

“I just went to bathroom for two minutes! ” Veer defended himself against his brother.

It wasn’t his fault he really needed to go. And when he returned the teacher already took both vaani and that boy outside of the class.

Isha sighed here she was trying to make her one child understand that fighting is not good and now her other one is talking about hitting the poor boy even harder like he wasn’t already crying so badly.

She knows that it’s just a matter between children but it’s parents responsibility too to teach their children.

“No one is going to hit anyone, understood?” She asked sharply.

“Yes” the twins replied instantly not wanting to make their mother mad.

As she was just about to sit inside the car someone shouted her name from behind.

“Isha!”

Her eyes were wide with disbelief as she turned.

No it can’t be.

Her school crush, here?

After so many years!

He still looks the same just…more Manly.

His lean figure has turned into strong muscles that along with his height gave him that effortlessly handsome look.

Now she remembers why she had a crush on him, tall, handsome, and that goofy smile giving him a boyish look despite the fact that they are in their early thirtees now.

you know the whole golden retriever vibes.

Ohh how the life turns out to be. now she’s in love with a man who’s the complete opposite of what her teenage self liked.

The irony

But she’s sure her husband is planning a hundred ways to get rid of him that is before he knows that he was her crush.

“Remember me?” He asked hopefully as they now face eachother.

“Yea” she returned his smile politely.

He was a nice guy and they weren’t like best friends but still they were classmates for many years, there was no reason to treat him like a stranger.

“What a coincidence! How long it’s been since we have seen each other”
He’s right they haven’t seen each other since tenth boards.

“What happened?”

Rudra asked his voice calm but not so polite either as he looked at the man his wife was talking to like they are lost friends.

“Here’s my husband, Rudra” Isha introduced taking his hand into hers.

“And you?” Rudra asked not bothering to hide his dislike.

Isha just gave her friend an apologetic look.

the man just grinned,”I’m Ishaan , Isha’s former classmate”

now you know the true reason, in her thirteen year old childish Brain the similar names looked cute together.
And she decided she had a crush on him.

And thanks to her friend he came to knew about it too it was so embarrassing she completely avoided him for nearly a month before he told her that it’s fine she doesn’t need to be embarrassed.

And soon he got a girlfriend thankfully and everyone forgot about the gossip.

Her school life was no less embarrassing than her college life.

Rudra took his extended hand and then he added fuel to the fire,”and Isha’s childhood crush” he added with a teasing smirk.

Whatever composer Rudra had a moment ago slipped as his hand tightened around Ishan’s in a painful grip.

“Ouchh” Ishaan winced taking his hand back.

“Shit man, I was just joking it was more than a decade ago’he said trying to ease the tension.

“Mumma come I’m hungry!” Veer shouted from the car.

“I have to go now” Isha said

“Yea I’m sure we will be meeting again my daughter studies here, see you around” with that he left.

“Matching names must be nice” Rudra grumbled under his breath as he opened the door getting inside the car.

Isha snorted.

“Our names also match see, Isha- Rudra” she said stiffling a laugh as he looked at her flatly.

“They don’t. And he was your first crush” he complained before starting driving. Sulking like a child.

“He wasn’t my first crush my first crush was leonardo caprio from titanic and my second crush was-” she stopped as he gave her a look that said he has zero intrest the list of her crushes.

“The point is he wasn’t my first crush he was just my childhood crush which wasn’t even serious even by crush standards” her crush on leo was so intense she thought she would marry him when she grew up.

She put her head on his shoulder,”and you know who was my first serious crush? In real life”

He didn’t respond. Ofcourse the grumpy old man’s favourite hobby is brooding.

“He’s a old man” she whispered placing her chin on his shoulder looking into his eyes which were focused on the road ahead.

“And he’s grumpy” his lip twitched slightly as he still pretended as if he wasn’t listening to her.

“And if he didn’t stop his stupid Act right now I’m not going to let him touch me for a week”

“We will see that” he replied casually.

Isha groaned going back on her sit.
He knows her too Well to be affected by these threats.

“I’m serious!”

“Yea I can see that” he replied just to amuse her.

And it continued she kept talking the entire way and even after being jealous he couldn’t help but smile.

It doesn’t matter who was her first crush or childhood crush.

He is her forever and that’s all that matters.

He looked at their children behind them who were arguing about something like always.

THE END
