While everyone says,
“You are mine”
I’m waiting for the one
Who will say, ” I’m yours “

Rudra was waiting for me in the parking lot.
I spotted him talking to Adi sir, both wearing serious, tense expressions, caught up in some important discussion.
But Rudra’s face… his jaw was tight, his body practically buzzing with restrained anger.
“What happened now?” I wondered as I walked toward them, my steps quickening without even realizing it.
“Make sure it’s done as quickly as possible,” Rudra said, his voice low and cold, carrying a dangerous edge. “She’ll remember who she messed with.”
“Don’t worry about it. Consider it done,” Adi sir replied easily, placing a firm hand on Rudra’s shoulder in reassurance.
Rudra gave a sharp nod, and then, as if sensing me, lifted his head.
The second our eyes met, all that coldness melted away – his entire face softened in an instant, the way it always did when he looked at me.
It was like I was the only thing that could calm the storm inside him.
Adi sir followed his gaze and turned toward me, flashing his usual warm smile. I returned it with a small, one of my own.
“Thank you,” I said quietly.
They exchanged a brief look before Adi sir asked, “For what?”
“For last night”, i explained. “You were searching for me too …….It wasn’t just Rudra i caused trouble for.”
“It’s fine. You don’t have to thank me,” Adi sir said, his voice gentle as he reached out and ruffled my hair like an affectionate older brother.
His smile was genuine. “Really. You’re family.”
Before I could say anything more, Rudra’s hand closed around mine firmly, tugging me toward him.
“Let’s go. We’re getting late… Mom’s probably waiting for us ,” Rudra grumbled, grabbing my hand more like dragging me towards the car.
I stumbled a little at his sudden pull, but he steadied me without missing a beat, guiding me toward the car with a possessive hand resting at the small of my back.
“Do you smell something?” Adi sir called out behind us, wrinkling his nose.
“Something’s burning.”
He threw a mischievous smirk at Rudra.
“Oh yeah, it’s your husband. He’s burning with jealousy.”
“Don’t worry, man,” he added, tossing me a playful wink. “I’m not gonna steal your girl.”
Rudra’s hand tightened almost protectively around mine.
“Yeah, because you’d be six feet under before that,” he said in an icy tone.
I bit my lip, struggling hard not to laugh at their childish bickering.
“Don’t forget to buy Burnol for him!” Adi sir shouted as we got into the car.
couldn’t hold it any longer. I burst into giggles, clutching my stomach.
Rudra shot me a sideways look. “What’s so funny ?”
I turned fully towards him, grinning ear to ear. “The fact that You were acting like a caveman.”
He knew I was right because he didn’t argue, just clenched his jaw and focused harder on the road.
“You knew he was just riling you up and you still fell for it,” I teased, settling back in my seat, still smiling.
“Yeah, well… I don’t find it funny,” he muttered, his tone gruff but his ears slightly red.
I shook my head fondly.
“Men,” I whispered under my breath, smiling to myself – because truth was, I secretly loved it.
Loved how easily he wore his heart on his sleeve when it came to me.
_____________
We reached home, and the moment Maa opened the door, I practically jumped on her, tackling her in a tight hug.
“Let her breathe, Isha,” Rudra sighed from behind me, sounding both amused and exasperated.
“Ohh sorry,” I said quickly, loosening my hold. “I just missed you a lot,” I added with a pout.
“I missed you too, my girl,” Maa said warmly, running a loving hand over my face.
“Come inside now,” she said, ushering us in. “Are you going to keep Rudra standing outside forever?”
“Of course, all you care about is Rudra now,” I huffed dramatically as I walked inside without even glancing back to see if he was following. “The moment I got married, I became an outsider for you too.”
From my room, I heard Maa’s voice – soft but clear – talking to Rudra.
“Beta, you just sit comfortably… She’ll get bored on her own in five minutes.”
“Maa!” I yelled, feeling betrayed. “I came here because I missed you! And you’re only worrying about your son-in-law!” I shot Rudra a glare as he entered, only to find him grinning at me like an idiot.
Laugh now, Rudra. I’ll deal with you at home.
Maa just laughed, pulling me to sit beside her.
“I’ve made your favorite pav bhaji,” she said, kissing my forehead. “Of course, I love you more than anyone.”
But even as she said that, I caught the secret look she exchanged with Rudra – like they were hiding something from me.
( Isha be like – mujhe pta tha mene sab sun liya tha , mere kaan h m andhi nhi hoon …..iykyk)
After dinner, we sat together, chatting and laughing for a while longer.
And now, as it was time to leave, I hugged Maa one more time, holding on a little tighter this time.
As we walked toward the car, I was still sulking a little, my arms crossed over my chest dramatically.
Rudra opened the passenger door for me with an amused look.
“Still mad?” he asked, his voice teasing.
I climbed in without answering, turning my face away like a stubborn child.
He chuckled under his breath as he got in and started the car. For a moment, there was only the soft hum of the engine and the quiet night air between us.
Then he said casually, “So… you were jealous.”
I whipped my head around to glare at him. “I was not!”
He smirked, keeping his eyes on the road. “Maa gave me more attention and someone couldn’t handle it.”
“I wasn’t jealous!” I insisted, even though my cheeks were burning.
Rudra just laughed – low and warm – and reached over to grab my hand, lacing his fingers with mine.
“You’re cute when you act possessive,” he said, squeezing my hand gently.
I tried to glare at him, but it was hopeless. A smile broke across my face instead.
“Shut up,” I mumbled, leaning my head against the window to hide my blush.
But Rudra just kept holding my hand, driving with one hand like it was the most natural thing in the world.
And somewhere between my sulking and his teasing, my heart felt impossibly full.
________
The house was wrapped in a lazy Sunday silence, the kind that usually hinted at slow mornings and quiet evenings.
But for Rudra days off were almost a myth. Even today, instead of enjoying the rare break, he was locked away in his office, buried under paperwork that didn’t seem to end.
Isha, meanwhile, sat curled up on the couch, her arms wrapped tightly around her stomach.
The cramps were worse than usual today – sharp, twisting pain that made her entire body ache.
Her periods were normally manageable, but once in a while, they would hit her with an unforgiving force, and today was one of those days.
The irritability, the dull throbbing pain, the heaviness in her lower back – everything just felt overwhelming. She hated feeling like this, hated even more that Rudra was just a room away, yet she felt so alone in her discomfort.
Without thinking much, needing the comfort only he could give, she pushed herself off the couch and padded toward his office.
She didn’t bother knocking. She didn’t have to.
As soon as she stepped inside, Rudra looked up from behind his desk, his whiskey-colored eyes softening at the sight of her.
But before he could say anything, she crossed the distance and climbed into his lap, wrapping her arms around his neck tightly, pressing herself against his chest as if trying to mold into him, to lose herself in the steady rhythm of his heartbeat.
His arms instinctively came around her, holding her carefully, protectively.
“What happened?” he asked, his voice low and gentle as his fingers began stroking her hair in soothing circles.
“Nothing,” she mumbled against his chest, her voice muffled, tinged with frustration she didn’t mean to direct at him.
He knew her too well to take offense. Instead, he tightened his arms around her just a little, grounding her.
“Still tell me,” he coaxed softly, his lips brushing against her hair. “Maybe I can do something, hmm?”
For a moment, she stayed still, just breathing him in – the faint, familiar scent of his cologne, the warmth radiating off him. When she finally lifted her head, her eyes met his, and the concern she saw there made her chest ache for an entirely different reason.
Guilt pricked at her heart for being short with him when he was only trying to help.
“It’s just…” she began, her voice cracking slightly. “Periods. And it’s hurting,” she confessed in a small, sad whisper.
Almost as if in cruel agreement, another cramp hit her hard, making her stomach clench painfully. Tears welled up in her eyes, spilling over before she could stop them.
Rudra didn’t say anything. He didn’t ask questions or offer unnecessary words. Instead, he simply lifted her into his arms, cradling her as if she were the most precious thing in the world.
“Come,” he murmured against her temple.
He carried her out of the office and into their bedroom, the steady beat of his heart thudding against her ear the whole way.
Gently, he laid her down on the bed, brushing her hair away from her face with the tenderness only he reserved for her.
“Wait for me here, okay? I’ll be back in just a minute,” he said, pressing a soft kiss to her forehead.
She nodded weakly, feeling the cold absence of him the moment he stepped away.
True to his word, he returned a few minutes later, holding a hot water bag wrapped in a soft towel.
He carefully placed it over her lower stomach, adjusting it just right so it wouldn’t be too heavy or uncomfortable.
Then, without a word, he sat down beside her, one hand resting on her arm in silent support.
They stayed like that for a while – the room filled with the soft hum of the ceiling fan, the occasional rustle of the bed sheets as she shifted slightly.
“How is it now?” he asked after some time, his voice quiet.
She lifted the hot bag and set it aside before slowly inching closer to him. Without hesitation, she moved to lie on top of him, needing the warmth of his body more than anything else.
Rudra immediately wrapped his arms around her, holding her snug against his chest as if she belonged nowhere else. One hand threaded through her hair, caressing her scalp in slow, soothing strokes.
“You should rest,” he whispered, but there was no pressure in his voice, no urgency. Only care.
“I will… like this,” she murmured against his chest, her voice heavy with exhaustion but laced with contentment.
He chuckled softly, the vibration rumbling through his chest beneath her ear, making her smile faintly despite herself.
There were no grand gestures, no elaborate declarations of love – just this simple, unshakable presence. His steady heartbeat against her ear, his hand in her hair, his warmth around her – it was everything she needed.
Love isn’t always loud.
Sometimes it’s in a forehead kiss, a cup of tea, a shared silence.
A thousand little ways of saying: you are not alone.
Caring for someone doesn’t always mean fixing their pain.
Sometimes, it just means holding them until the pain feels lighter.
As they lay tangled together, Rudra shifted slightly beneath her, adjusting so she could rest more comfortably against him. His fingers trailed gentle, mindless patterns over her spine, his touch featherlight and soothing.
After a while, he murmured softly against the crown of her head,
“Should I remove the T-shirt? Then you’ll be more comfortable.”
His voice was low, hesitant, careful not to startle her.
Isha simply nodded, too drained to speak, trusting him without question. She shifted back a little, just enough to give him space.
Rudra peeled the T-shirt over his head and discarded it carelessly onto the bed, before pulling her close again, pressing her body against his now bare chest. The warmth of his skin against her back was immediate, comforting in a way that seeped into her bones.
Without a word, his hand slid under the loose fabric of her shirt and rested gently on her lower stomach. His palm was warm – far more soothing than the hot water bag had been – and she instinctively relaxed into him with a soft sigh, her tense muscles finally beginning to unknot.
He said nothing, simply held her, letting his warmth do all the healing she needed. His thumb stroked slow, absent-minded circles over her skin, grounding her, easing the sharp edges of the pain with his quiet touch.
In the cocoon of his arms, the world outside ceased to exist.
The ache in her body dulled, her breathing evened out, and the constant irritation faded into something distant and hazy.
With the steady thump of his heart against her back, the comforting weight of his hand on her stomach, and the heat of his body enveloping hers, Isha finally drifted into a peaceful sleep.
Rudra stayed awake a little longer, his hand never leaving her, his heart full with a tenderness he could never quite put into words.
He pressed a featherlight kiss to her forehead.
And soon, with the woman he loved cradled safely against him, he, too, surrendered to sleep, the quiet room filled only with the sound of their slow, steady breathing blending into one.
πΌ
The evening had settled over the house, casting a warm glow across the living room where Isha sat curled up on the couch, lazily flipping through channels. She was wrapped in a cozy blanket, her mood much lighter now compared to the morning.
Rudra entered quietly, carrying two cups of tea. He placed them carefully on the table before dropping down beside her. His eyes softened when they landed on her.
“Are you feeling okay now?” he asked, his voice gentle as he turned slightly toward her.
Isha smiled – a soft, genuine smile – remembering how he had stayed beside her the entire afternoon, never leaving until she woke up, even though he must have been tired himself.
Without thinking much, she leaned closer and pressed a soft kiss against his cheek.
Rudra blinked, surprised but clearly pleased.
“What was that for?” he asked, smiling fondly, his cheeks tinged faintly pink.
Isha grinned mischievously, her eyes sparkling.
“Aise hi… aap itne pyaare lag rahe the, raha nahi gaya,” she said, shrugging playfully.
Rudra chuckled, shaking his head in mock exasperation, but the tenderness in his expression was unmistakable.
“I’m seriously scared of your mood swings now,” he teased. “In the morning you snapped at me just because I asked what happened, and now you’re kissing me?”
Isha puffed her cheeks in fake anger and folded her arms.
“Toh aap subha se pareshaan hain meri wajah se, huh?” she huffed dramatically, turning her face away.
“Jayiye ab… nahi aaungi main aapke paas.”
Rudra’s eyes widened, immediately regretting his teasing.
“Arre, mera woh matlab nahi tha!” he said hurriedly, fumbling with his words, panicked at her sudden shift in mood.
She turned back toward him slowly, raising an eyebrow.
“Toh kya matlab tha aapka?” she asked, sarcasm dripping from her tone.
Rudra shook his head and gently pulled her into his arms, tucking her against his chest.
“Nothing,” he murmured softly. “You want to snap at me? Fine. You want me close? I’m all yours. You can do whatever you want.”
His voice turned even softer, almost a whisper now.
“Just don’t talk about going away from me… okay?”
Isha’s throat tightened. She quickly cleared it, trying to hide how his words had almost brought tears to her eyes. She nodded against him, feeling his heartbeat steady and sure under her cheek.
Gathering herself, she leaned back a little to look at him with mock seriousness.
“Okay then… you won’t have a problem if I act clingy all the time?” she asked, tilting her head cutely.
Rudra bit back a grin, matching her tone with equal seriousness.
“No ma’am,” he said, his lips twitching upward at her adorable face.
That was all the permission Isha needed.
With a bright grin, she threw herself at him, tackling him into a giant bear hug, giggling wildly. Rudra laughed too, steadying himself and wrapping his arms tightly around her small frame.
“Sometimes you’re worse than a baby,” he said, chuckling into her hair.
Without missing a beat, Isha whispered back boldly,
“If you don’t want me glued to you, marry someone else in the next life.”
Rudra tilted her chin up, locking eyes with her.
His voice dropped to a low, serious murmur,”Nahi… main toh already booked hoon saat janmon ke liye.”
( Nahh…..I’m already booked for seven lifetimes.)
He smiled softly, brushing his thumb against her cheek.
“Aur meri biwi mujhe maar degi agar maine agle janam mein bhi kisi aur se shaadi ka socha bhi,” he added with a teasing glint in his eyes, making her laugh helplessly against him.
Isha buried her face in the crook of his neck, her arms tightening around him. Her voice came out muffled but clear, filled with emotion.
“You are the one who made me like this, Rudra… now suffer the consequences.”
He just smiled, kissed the top of her head, and held her tighter – as if even eternity wouldn’t be enough to love her the way he wanted to.
