3rd Person POV
After the whole ordeal with the examiner and the man faced ape, the participants started making their way through swindlers swamp.
Around halfway through, D/n started falling behind as her short legs could not keep up with all the taller and older participants in the mud. Trying her best to keep up, she lost sight of the boys she was with. D/n then decided to push herself even harder, finally regaining sight of her new friends.
“Hey Killua, where’d D/n go?” Gon questioned.
“Uh, I don’t know actually…”
“I’m right here! ” D/n said, making herself known as she tried her best to keep up.
“Oh man you look like you’re struggling,” Killua said looking down at the todler.
“I’m not tired, just short!” D/n snapped back, making the white haired boy put his hands up in defense.
“I can carry you on my back if you want,” Gon offered, only for the little girl to shake her head.
“I can do this myself!”
“Okay if you insist!!”
A few minutes passed and Killua spoke up, “Let’s try to get up to the front”.
” Yeah, the last thing we wanna do is lose sight of the examiner right now. C’mon D/n” Gon replied, lifting D/n onto his back despite the child’s protests.
“I just wanna put a little more distance between Hisoka and us. Staying too close is dangerous…. I can smell it.”
Gon then sniffed the air and stated in confusion, “Smell? Huh, I don’t think he smells.”
The todler on his back then facepalmed and spoke, “It’s an expression dummy.”
Gon then yelled towards the suited man and the blonde boy, who’s names we know as Leorio and Kurapika. They responded, advising the three children to go ahead and so, they began to advance.
“This is bad, with this fog we can’t tell where we’re going,” Kurapika stated worriedly.
“It’s ok, just as long as we don’t lose sight of the guys in front of us,” his taller counterpart reassured. Just to their luck, the silhouettes in front of them started disappearing.
Leorio screamed in confusion, “WHAT IN THE HELL IS GOING ON NOW!?”
Just then, a bunch of strawberries appeared. An applicant then began to approach the strawberries, only to get snatched up by an oversized turtle like creature. The others than began to run away, the not so lucky ones getting eaten also. Leorio and Kurapika were then surrounded by 3-4 of these turtles.
~Meanwhile~
“I wonder what’s happening, I can hear people screaming all around us,” Gon began.
“That’s why we gotta be careful. “
“I haven’t seen the guys in a while, I just hope they’re safe. The boys then stopped, only for the ground to fall as they got swallowed by a giant frog while all three children screamed.
Shortly after, the frog’s stomach began to get upset. Then, the frog threw up the three children. Gon chuckled then remarked, ” He must’ve not liked the way we tasted huh?”
“It was this stuff,” Killua said pulling a can from behind his back.
“Hmm… OH! That’s the juice the weird blueberry man was carrying!” D/n observed.
“I guess that’s what saved us.”
“Yeah I guess, but I could’ve escaped without it.”
The three of them then got back up and started moving forward again, only for Gon to stop and turn back.
“Gon? What are you doing?” D/n questioned, gripping her rabbit plush tightly after having gotten on the boys back once more.
“I’m worried for the others, I’m going back to see if they’re ok!” And with that, the two ran back.
When the two came to a stop, they noticed the clown man, Hisoka, fighting with Leorio. Gon put D/n down and swung his fishing rod at Hisoka, hitting him on the cheek.
“Did I make it?”
“Hmm not bad… little boy~. Is that a fishing pole? How original.”
There was a pause, hisoka approaching the two children.
“May I see it?”
“Leave him alone, your fights with me!” Leorio exlaimed, swinging a stick at Hisoka, only to be knocked out could. Gon then screamed, swinging his fishing pole again hitting Hisoka, but he went up in smoke.
“Did you come here to help your friend?” the man questioned, appearing behind Gon. Gon jumped out of the way only for Hisoka to appear behind him again.
“Such a good boy~”
Gon swung at him, only for Hisoka to disappear again.
“Hmm, I adore that look.”
Gon kept jumping back and swinging his fishing rod, only to miss each time.
“Well done. Very nice. I’m beginning to get excited~”
Gon then swung his pole again, this time hitting the ground below Hisoka to create a diversion to attack from behind. His attempt was futile as Hisoka grabbed him and held him up by his neck as he chuckled.
“This is so delightful~”
D/n gasped at the sight before her, never have been in a situation like this before.
“Oh? The little one is here too~”
The child’s eyes quivered with fear as she took a few steps back.
“D/n…run,” Gon let out with a struggle. Without a second of hesitation D/n took off as fast as she could in the other direction.
