Y/n POV
“But mommy, do I have tooooooo?” D/n whined.
I let out a sigh before turning to the pouting child. “Yes d/n, unfortunately I can’t take you with me and no one else can keep an eye on you other than uncle Chrollo.”
For context, we were running short on money and I decided I would become a licenced hunter. It seems like a stretch, but it’s the only option I have as I don’t have time for a normal job.
The four year old sulked next to the front door, holding a backpack full of essentials and her favorite rabbit plush on her lap. It wasn’t that the child disliked Chrollo, who was an old friend I had reunited with at some point in my adulthood, it’s just that she was opposed to the idea of being without her mom for more than 24 hours. Shortly after I had finished packing D/n a homemade boxed lunch, there was a knock on the door.
I opened the door only to see none other than Chrollo, standing in front of me wearing his iconic goodwill pimp coat.
“Hey Chrollo. Thanks again for agreeing to watch D/n, it means a lot.”
“It’s no problem. I couldn’t imagine how hard it is to take care of a kid while making money in rational ways at the same time.”
Despite being one of the world’s most feared gang leaders, Chrollo was sweet when it came to me and D/n. Surprisingly, he was good with kids.
“Come on D/n, let’s head back to the base so your mom can do what needs to be done.” Chrollo said, reaching for the young child’s hand. The girl let out a string of the best made up curses a six year old could think of and took his hand, pouting. I waved them goodbye and returned to preparing myself for the hunter exams.

Chrollo POV
When we had reached the base, I lifted D/n and sat her onto one of the broken pillars. “Stay here for a second okay? I have to go discuss grown up business.”
“Mhh okay,” the girl replied, paying little attention as she was too preoccupied with her stuffed rabbit. I was in the middle of speaking until Feitan interrupted.
“Uhh boss… where child?”
“HUH!?” I turned to where I left little D/n and saw that there was nothing there, her and her belongings were gone. It hadn’t even been an hour and I already lost the demon spawn… Y/n is gonna kill me.
D/n POV
Escaping uncle Chrollo was a lot easier than expected. Now I just gotta find mommy. She said she was taking some sort of exam… the hunger exam??? I dunno what that is but she said it was in a place called Zaban City. Now all I have to do is find a way to get there!
{mini timeskip}
After what seemed like forever I made it to Zaban. I was hungry and since I had a little money from mommy for picking berries from our garden, I decided to walk into the nearest restaurant. All though I’m only 4, I’m very smart!! There was this group of boys in front of me who ordered the steak combo. Mommy thinks steak is yummy(of not idk)!
I ordered the same thing as the group of boys and got taken to a private room. The room then started moving and one of the walls opened like elevator doors, leading me to a room full of people. I’m guessing that means no steak combo then…
I walked through the door and a thing that looked like a jelly bean walked up to me. “Hello and welcome to the 287th hunter exam! Here’s your badge, please wear it on your chest at all times.”
The jelly bean man handed me a pin with the number 406 on it. The hunter exam that means mommy is here!!!
After a little bit of walking, a meatball wearing blue walked up to me. “Hey you must be new here! I’m Tonpa, you look a little young to be here.”
“I’m 4 I’m a big girl!! Mommy told me not to talk to creepy old people so bye bye!” After I said that, I started running in the opposite direction of the stinky man. I stopped running for a second and recognized a tall/short lady with h/l h/c hair. “GASP! MOMMYYYYYYY!”
Y/n POV
It hadn’t even been 15 minutes since I found where the hunter exam was being held, and I already got a message from Chrollo. I sighed and opened my phone, only to panic at what the screen read.

WHAT DOES HE MEAN KINDA?? HOW DID HE LOSE MY CHILD AND LET ALONE SO FAST!?
I tried keeping my cool and thinking of everywhere D/n could’ve ran off to until I heard a familiar screech.
“MOMMMYYYYYYY!!! I FOUND YOUUU!!”
