POV AUTHOR
It was finally the much-awaited freshers’ party, and since the event was scheduled for the evening, everyone had the whole day off. Manav and the rest of the F4 boys had already left early in the afternoon, given their senior status, to supervise the final preparations.
Meanwhile, Tara was peacefully enjoying her much-needed beauty sleep—until disaster struck.
“Tara darling, uth ja! We have to get ready!” Shivi’s loud voice echoed through the room, shattering Tara’s dreams into tiny, irreparable pieces.
Tara groaned and pulled her blanket over her face. “Shivi, tujhe kisne bola mere morning alarm banne ko?” (Shivi, who told you to become my morning alarm?)
But Shivi was relentless. “Morning? Madam, it’s already afternoon!”
Realizing there was no escape, Tara dramatically dragged herself out of bed and trudged to the bathroom. After splashing cold water on her face, she stepped out holding two face masks. Whistling to catch Shivi’s attention, she tossed one towards her friend.
“Waise, Tara, mujhe toh samajh aata hai ki main Rohan ke liye itni tayyari kar rahi hoon, but tu kiske liye itna saj-dhaj rahi hai, ha?” Shivi wiggled her eyebrows teasingly.
(By the way, Tara, I understand why I’m getting all dressed up for Rohan, but who are you dressing up for, hmm?)
Tara rolled her eyes. “Shut up, Shivi. Tere paas already dimag kam hai, upar se faltu baatein karegi toh jo bacha-kucha hai, woh bhi chala jayega. It’s better to keep quiet.”
(Shut up, Shivi. You already have a limited brain, and if you waste it on nonsense, whatever little is left will also vanish. It’s better to keep quiet)
Shivi gasped dramatically. “Aree nahi, mujhe laga kahin Tarun bhai ke liye toh nahi!”
(Oh no! I thought maybe it was for Tarun bhai!)
Tara turned red faster than a traffic signal, but thankfully, the face mask covered her blush.
“Shut up and come on, let’s click a selfie,” she quickly changed the topic, knowing very well that Shivi couldn’t resist a good photo session.
As expected, Shivi instantly perked up, and soon, their Instagram stories were updated with their masked faces, captioned: *Beauty queens in the making!*

Once their skincare ritual was over, the real challenge of the day arrived—the saree.
“Which saree are you wearing?” Shivi asked, recalling the absolute meltdown Tara had when they found out sarees were compulsory for the event.
“Mom’s saree, aur kya!” Tara pouted. “I still don’t know how to wear this thing!”
Fortunately, her mom came to the rescue, expertly draping the sarees around both girls while giving them non-stop advice.
“Hayee meri bachhiyon ko kisi ki nazar na lage! Kitni sundar lag rahi ho tum dono!” her mom gushed. “Main abhi Rajveer aur Manav ko call karti hoon—bolo extra dhyan rakhein! Bharosa kya, koi utha kar le gaya toh?”
(Oh my, may no evil eye fall on my daughters! You both look so beautiful!)
(I’m calling Rajveer and Manav right now—telling them to keep an extra eye on you! Who knows, what if someone tries to whisk you away?)
Both girls burst out laughing as Tara’s mother dramatically left the room.
Tara was dressed in an elegant black saree, while Shivi looked stunning in a grey-and-golden mix saree. They kept their makeup minimal and let their hair down, looking effortlessly beautiful.

“Rohan messaged me—he’s waiting downstairs,” Shivi announced.
Tara smirked. “Ooho! Tujhe message kiya pehle, mujhe nahi! Hmm… not bad, ha?”
“Shut up, Tara!” Shivi said, turning pink.
When they stepped outside, they saw Rohan leaning against his car, scrolling through his phone. The moment his eyes met Shivi’s, time seemed to pause.
It took Tara exactly three seconds to notice their outfits matched—Shivi in grey-and-gold, and Rohan in a grey shirt with black pants.
“Ahh, it looks like love is in the air!” Tara teased. “Matching outfits bhi hone lage ab? Wah, wah!”
(Matching outfits now too? Wow, wow!)
Both Rohan and Shivi turned red.
“Guys, let’s go! We’re getting late!” Rohan said quickly, jumping into the driver’s seat.
Tara, of course, made sure Shivi got the passenger seat before settling in the back with a victorious smirk.

The venue was buzzing with excitement as they arrived. Their friends—Tiya, Mahi, and Ishita—were already waiting.
Mahi whistled the moment she saw Tara. “Wow, Tara baby! You look sexy and stunning! I swear, you’re going to kill it tonight—especially Tarun bhai!”
Tara glared at her while the others burst into laughter.
Ishita nudged Shivi. “Ooohooo, dekho humare lovebirds ko! Matching-matching! Not bad, ha!”
(Ooohooo, look at our lovebirds! Matching outfits! Not bad, huh!)
Shivi, now as red as a tomato, glared at Ishita. “Guys, let’s go inside before you kill me with embarrassment.”
As they entered the hall, the attention immediately shifted towards them. Guys were openly gawking, and Tara could feel their gazes lingering on her.
Before she could roll her eyes, two pairs of intense stares cut through the crowd—Manav and Tarun. The moment they saw how everyone was looking at Tara, their expressions darkened.
Manav was the first to speak, placing a protective hand on her shoulder. “Tara, yeh kya pehna hai tune?” (Tara what have you worn?)
Tara pouted. “Kyu? Achhi nahi lag rahi kya?” (Why? Ain’t I looking good?)
Before Manav could respond, Rajveer walked over and pulled her into a side hug. “Tara darling, don’t worry. You look beautiful. It’s just that your brother is being over-possessive because all the guys can’t stop staring at you.”
Manav huffed, but before the conversation could continue, a high-pitched voice interrupted.
“Tarun!!”
Everyone turned to see Samiksha—Tarun’s classmate—practically launching herself at him.
“Tarun, how do I look?” she asked, batting her lashes.
Tarun, clearly uncomfortable, forced a smile.”good.”
Tara clenched her fists. She didn’t even get a compliment, but this girl did?
Before anyone could notice her growing irritation, she quietly slipped away and went outside to cool down.
Taking deep breaths, she tried to push away the nagging jealousy bubbling inside her.
But then, she heard footsteps behind her, followed by a familiar voice.
“Tara?”
Her heart skipped a beat.
