Koi mil gaya, taru dil gaya
Kya bataun yaaron, tarun toh hil gaya

POV AUTHOR
T
ara and her friends strolled back from the canteen, chatting and laughing after their breakfast. As they reached their classroom, they lingered outside, still immersed in their conversation.
“Guys, you know today is the big basketball match between our school team and their old rivals, Sunrise School? Ugh, I am so excited because F4 is playing!” Tiya gushed, practically bouncing on her feet.
“Ooo, so you’re excited because F4 is playing, or because you’ll get a chance to drool over Manav bhai?” Ishita teased, wiggling her eyebrows.
Tiya instantly turned beet red. “W-what? No, it’s not like that!” she stammered.
“Oh my god, look at her blushing! Someone call an ambulance—our Tiya is in love!” Mahi added dramatically, and the whole group burst into laughter.
Just then, a deep voice called out from behind them.
“Taraaa!!”
They all turned around—and instantly froze in shock.
F4 was standing right there.
“Oh bhai, looks like Tiya really did manifest Manav bhai with her heart,” Shivi whispered, making them chuckle.
Tara blinked, recovering from her surprise. “Bhai, what are you doing here?” she asked, frowning at Manav.
“What, I can’t come to see my own sister?” Manav pouted dramatically.
“Haan, haan, bas bas. Ghar pe toh ladte rehte ho, aur aaj itna pyaar aa raha hai mujh par?” Tara shot back, crossing her arms.
(You keep fighting at home, and today you are feeling great love for me)
“It’s nothing like that! Anyway, meet my friends.” Manav gestured to the boys beside him. “You already know Rajveer, and this is Rahul, and this is Tarun.”
“Hii Rajveer bhai, hii Rahul bhai, and hii Tarun bha—”
Before Tara could complete her sentence, Tarun erupted into a loud coughing fit.
“Tarun bhai, what happened? Should I get some water?” Tara asked innocently as Rahul patted Tarun’s back, trying to suppress his laughter.
“No, no, I’m fine,” Tarun croaked. Then, clearing his throat, he added, “By the way, Tara, just call me Tarun, okay? No need to say bhai. It makes me feel… old.”
“Oh, but I call them bhaiya too. Won’t it feel weird if I only call you by your name?” she pointed out.
“Aise bhaiya bhaiya karke dil par chaaku toh mat chalao,” Tarun muttered under his breath, making Rahul snort.
(Don’t keep stabbing my heart by calling me ‘bhaiya’ (brother) again and again)
Meanwhile, Manav had his own agenda. “Tara, tell me honestly—has anyone been bothering you?”
“No, Monkey, why are you so worried?”
“Nothing… just stay away from that Sahil in your class, okay?”
Tara gave him a questioning look but nodded. “Okay.”
Tiya, who had been elbowing Tara the entire time, finally managed to get her attention. Raising her eyebrows meaningfully, she motioned toward Manav.
“Oh, bhai! Meet my new friend, Tiya Malhotra,” Tara said, suddenly shoving Tiya forward like a sacrifice to the lions.
Manav smiled and extended his hand. “Oh, hi! Nice to meet you.”
Tiya stared at his hand as if it was an alien artifact. “N-Nice to meet you too,” she mumbled, struggling to get the words out. Her entire face turned the color of a tomato.
Before she could combust from sheer awkwardness, Rajveer clapped his hands. “Okay, guys, let’s go! The match is about to start.”
“Yeah, you girls should join us too,” Tarun added, eyes subtly lingering on Tara.
“But our class—”
“Arre, don’t worry! The whole school is going to be in the auditorium. Come on,” Rajveer said, casually throwing an arm over Tara’s shoulder and dragging her along.
Meanwhile, Rahul had his own battle going on.
“Mahi, listen—” he started.
Mahi, who was standing beside him, completely ignored him.
“Arey, Mahi, sunn toh—”
Still ignored.
“Oh ho, Mahi, oh Mahi, oh Mahi, oh Mahi, lo main qayamat tak hua teraaa..” Rahul broke into song, dramatically clutching his heart.
Every student nearby turned to watch the free concert, while Mahi continued walking ahead like he didn’t exist.
Rahul pouted. “Tarun, yaar, did you see that? I got ignored like an expired WhatsApp message.”
Tarun, who had been walking quietly, snapped out of his thoughts.
Rahul smirked. “Speaking of which, *what* was that back there? ‘Don’t call me bhai, it makes me feel old’? Really?” He folded his arms and stared at Tarun.
“It was nothing. You’re overthinking,” Tarun dismissed, looking away.
“Ohhh, so that means Tara is like your sister too?”
“The hell she is! When did I say that?” Tarun whisper-yelled, glaring at Rahul.
Rahul gasped dramatically. “Omg! Tarun Verma, the guy who is allergic to girls, is suddenly interested in his best friend’s sister? Scandalous!”
“Shut up, Rahul!” Tarun whisper-shouted, ears turning slightly red.
“Okay, okay, but bro—if Manav finds out, he will murder you.”
Tarun gulped. “Which is exactly why you should shut your mouth.”
Finally, they reached the auditorium, and the moment F4 stepped in, the place erupted.
“F4! F4! F4!”
Tara whistled, looking at the cheering crowd. “Monkey, your fan following is insane. I should tell Papa to make you an actor instead of an engineer.”
Manav rolled his eyes. “Shut up, Rabbit. Now sit here and watch your legendary brother in action.” He winked at her before making his way to the court.
Tara cheered, “All the best, Rajveer bhai, Rahul bhai, and Tarun b—” She caught Tarun’s pointed glare. “—I mean, Tarun.”
The game started, and the intensity in the auditorium rose. Everyone was cheering for F4.
Shivi leaned toward Tara. “Hey, don’t you think Tarun bhai was acting weird with you? He never tells me not to call him bhai.” She smirked mischievously.
“I don’t know,” Tara shrugged, eyes still glued to the game.
“I think he’s attracted to you.”
Tara nearly choked on air. “What the hell?! It’s nothing like that! Now focus on the match.”
It was the final moment—Tarun had the ball. If he made the basket, their school would win. The auditorium fell into a tense silence.
Tarun bounced the ball once, twice—then took the shot.
The ball spun around the rim… and dropped into the net.
SWOOSH!
The entire auditorium exploded with cheers. F4 hugged each other in victory, the tension finally breaking.
Tara, overwhelmed with pride, felt tears prick her eyes.
Manav, ever the overprotective brother, sprinted toward her. “Tara jaan, kya hua?!” he asked, wiping her tears frantically.
(Tara jaan,what happened)
“Tara, kya hua?” Tarun, Rajveer, and Rahul rushed over, looking concerned. (Tara what happened)
Tara sniffled. “Nothing! These are happy tears! I’m just so proud of you all!”
Without warning, she pulled them all into a big group hug.
And at that moment, even the mighty F4 couldn’t resist smiling.
