𝐄𝐐𝐔𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒 𝐎𝐅 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄 ♡ - | CHAPTER 22 |

The morning sun rises, as Tanya woke up, prepared for the day, and checked everything one last time.

She was ready to head to Vihaan’s house, where they planned to go together since Ruhanika wouldn’t be joining them.

With her bag slung over her shoulder, Tanya called out to her aunt, “Kaki, I’m going” and headed down the alley.

She had also planned to go with Siddharth, but couldn’t as he lived in a society a bit farther away.

Yash, who lived just behind her house, her aunt suggested her to go with him.

However, Tanya wasn’t keen on that.

She had spent nearly every weekend at Yash’s house because her aunt worked there with his mom, and her aunt was very protective, not wanting to leave her alone at home.

As Tanya walked, she suddenly felt someone grab her bag from behind, causing her to bump into the person. Turning around, she saw Yash standing there, looking at her with a questioning gaze.

Tanya felt a knot in her stomach, she had been avoiding Yash for the past three weeks, and the previous day, during their practice session, she hadn’t spoken to him at all.

Not even a little bit.

“Why are you doing this?” Yash asked, a mix of anger and hurt in his voice.

Tanya sighed and said, “What are you talking about?”

“Don’t play innocent. Why are you ignoring me?” Yash asked, adjusting the strap of her school bag on her shoulder which seems to be falling.

“Ah, I… wasn’t ignoring you,” Tanya replied hesitantly.

“What’s stressing you out?” Yash asked, taking her hand and starting to walk with her.

“Nothing, Yash. Everything’s alright,” Tanya said, itching her earlobe nervously.

“Do you really think of me as your best friend? And now I don’t deserve to know what’s troubling you?” Yash asked, stepping in front of her and looking her in the eye.

“I…”

“Don’t lie. I know when you’re lying because you always itch your ear,” Yash said, crossing his arms.

Realizing she couldn’t escape the situation, Tanya sighed deeply and controlled herself not to scratch her ear as she lied to him, “It’s just that I’m missing my parents. I won’t be able to go to my village until next year, so I’ve been feeling upset.”

Yash’s expression softened as he took her hand again and started walking.

“If you want, we can skip this competition and go to your home,” he said, his eyes shining with the excitement of what seemed like a big decision.

Tanya chuckled and playfully hit him on the head.

He flashed a smile, which did something to her, but Tanya took a small step away from him.

She reminded herself, ‘You should stop thinking about him.’

When they reached Vihaan’s neighborhood, they found him standing there looking like a sulking kid.

“What’s wrong with you? Why do you look like a child who lost his lollipop?” Yash asked Vihaan.

Tanya and Yash exchanged glances, but Tanya just shook her head.

Vihaan sighed and said, “Nothing, let’s just go,” and began walking.

He was already in a bad mood because his Ruh wasn’t coming with him, and also he hadn’t seen her in the morning.

“He’s behaving strange,” Tanya said.

Yash smirked and replied, “I think I know why he’s acting this way.”

“What do you know?” Tanya asked.

“You’ll find out in the future,” Yash said mysteriously.

“You talk as if you can see the future,” Tanya said.

His smirk grew wider and he fixed his collar spoke, “off course I can, it’s a secret talent of mine”

Tanya shook her head, walking faster, muttering under her breath, “If you know everything, why can’t you understand my feelings?”

Yash, hearing her mutter, ran up to her.

“What did you just say?” he asked, slightly out of breath.

“I said you are dumbest person in this whole universe,” she yelled in anger.

“They both are looking depressed aatma“, Yash commented as he looked at Vihaan and Tanya, both of whom were sulking and sighing.

Soon, they reached the school and met Siddharth. They all went inside together.

Tanya quickly took a seat in the back.

Vihaan sat in a two-seater seat, and Yash joined Tanya in the back seat.

Siddharth was about to sit with Vihaan when Vihaan said, “No, you can’t sit here” while he looked outside, searching for someone.

“Why?” Sid asked him.

Vihaan shrugged and replied, “I just want to sit alone,” tapping his foot continuously and staring at the bus entrance.

Sid looked at Yash and he nodded.

“Hnn dikhadi apni dosti,” Sid said to Vihaan, pouting and sulking like a kid.

Vihaan cringed at Sid and royally ignored him.

Sid went to sit with Yash and said, “What’s wrong with him?”

“He’s got some mental issues,” Yash replied.

Sid sighed and rested his head on Yash’s shoulder, saying dramatically, “I’m telling you, something’s wrong with my Vihaan. He’s gone crazy.
Agr use kuch hogaya toh me kaise jiunga,” Sid pretended to cry.

(How will I manage if something happens to him?)

Meanwhile, Yash nodded and patted his head cutely.

Tanya coughed, looking at them being overly affectionate.

“Are you both…?” Tanya began to ask.

But Sid and Yash cringed, moving away from each other, and yelled, “Chiii!”

Tanya blinked rapidly looking at these both clowns and sighed in relief.

Soon, Ruhanika entered, and Vihaan’s eyes lit up like a kid who just got his favorite chocolate.

He moved his bag and pointed to a seat for her.

Just as she was about to sit with him, Meera appeared out of nowhere and sat next to Vihaan.

Yash looked at them and asked Ruhii to sit with them.

Ruhii took the seat between Sid and Tanya, with Yash sitting beside Sid.

“Did he save the seat for Meera? He didn’t ask me to sit with him,” Sid exclaimed.

“No way, Vihaan ignores Meera like she is plague” Yash whispered, still curious about why Meera sat with him.

Miss Raagini entered and took attendance. “Where is Vani?”

“Here, ma’am,” Vani said, jumping as if she had run from far away.

“Sorry, it’s just that the traffic was terrible.”

“Okay, now sit,” Miss Raagini said.

As Vani scanned the bus, she noticed the last third seat empty.

She moved towards it but met Siddharth’s gaze.

She smiled, and as soon as Siddharth saw her, he quickly pulled his bag onto his lap.

Poor Sid is still traumatized.

Vani mentally chuckled seeing his reaction and without wasting any time, quickly sat in the window seat.

And soon, their journey began.

If “unlucky” had a face, it would be mine.

This morning, i couldn’t even see her, now I wanted to sit with Ruh, but instead, Meera showed up.

Why is she here? She’s from another section, then what is she doing here.

“Did you miss me, Vihaan?” she asked cheerfully.

“NO,” I replied, looking out the window.

I couldn’t care less about her.

I saw her face fall, but did I care?
My answer is a capital N-O.
NO

“Oh, I get it. It’s because of your studies. No problem; you should focus on that,” she said, concluding everything in her own way.

I gave a fake smile and turned back to the window.

“Why are you on our bus?” I asked, still looking outside.

“The bus got full, and the teacher asked one student to switch. So I came,” she said, clapping her hands lightly like she had achieved big things.

I sighed and closed my eyes.

I wanted to sit with My Ruh.

I turned and saw her chatting with Sid and Yash, laughing. Her laughter was like music to my ears.

For the first time, I was jealous of my friends.

I pouted while Meera talked endlessly, but all I could think about was Ruh’s soft voice.

“Vihaan…” I heard Meera calling my name again.

Can’t she understand that if I’m not talking to her, I’m not interested?

“Vihaan, why are you doing this? Aren’t we…”, she said coming closer to me holding my hands.

My eyes shot up. She was starting that topic again.

I very politely, not want to create any scene jerk her hand off.

“Meera, don’t bring that up again, and please maintain safe distance” I said, frustrated.

She clamped her lips shut and looked away.

She needed to understand that it was all in the past.

And I have made myself clear so many times.

After four hours, the school bus stopped briefly for rest.

Students and teachers got off. I quickly got down and started searching for Sid.

I grabbed him from behind and pulled him into a corner.

“Vihaan, what the—are you taking advantage of me?” Sid exclaimed, covering his chest dramatically.

I have the most idiot friends.

“Sid, shut up. And listen to me, I don’t want to sit with Meera, sit in my place… please,” I said very politely. That’s what I think.

“Why, should I help you?” he asked, smirking.

“Because you’re my best friend,” I replied, simply.

He looked at me and said, “Weren’t you the one who didn’t give me a seat?”

He is still stuck up on that morning incident .

Can I hit his head?
No.
Vihaan, he is your best friend. And how can I kill him. I need to dance at his wedding also. He should be present at his wedding, alive. Of course as he will be the groom.
Okay…wait what…my mind went to another lane.

“I’ll buy you lunch in the canteen for a week,” I said quickly, negotiating in the best way possible.

It worked.

“Deal,” he said, shaking hands to seal it.

I knew how to make things work according to me.

Talent hai.

Soon, we all had lunch and got back on the bus.

Sid took my usual seat.

“Why are you sitting here?” Meera asked while furrowing her eyebrows.

Sid replied, “I’m feeling nauseous, now move aside before I vomit on your expensive bag” and take the seat.

Yash and Tanya laughed at Sid’s comment.

Meanwhile Ruh was clueless.
Oh my innocent Ruh.

I moved to Sid’s seat, and Ruh made space for me.

Yes, mission accomplished.
I did a victory dance in my mind.

I glanced up at Ruh, but she wasn’t looking at me.

“Ruh, why are you ignoring me?” I asked quietly, just for her to hear.

She turned, pointed to herself, and said, “Me? Ignore you? Never! Why would I?”

“Then why haven’t you talked to me all day?” I asked.

“Ahh, I thought you get tired of talking to Meera straight for four hours continuously, I just thought you needed a break”, she replied, her eyes fixed on her book.

She seems angry.

What did I do to make her angry?
But I do remember I didn’t annoy her.

‘Come on, brain, you’re usually full of nonsense. Now remind me what I did to upset her,’ I mentally yelled at myself.

My brain finally woke up from its nap and replied, ‘Oh, Mr. Raichand, even I don’t know what you’ve done. And why she is angry is the most difficult question you asked, let me tell you a secret, Girls are just impossible to understand.’

I nodded, for the first time my brain works properly.

“You seem angry with me,” I said nervously. She responded with a smile that seemed a bit forced.

“Mr. Raichand, why would I be angry with you? Aapko jo karna hai, kariye. Jisse smile kar ke baat karni hai, kariye. Jiske saath baithna hai, baithiye. Main hoti kon hoti hu gussa karne waali?” she said, opening her book again.

(Mr. Raichand, why would I be angry with you? Do whatever you want. Talk and laugh with whoever you want. Sit wherever you want. Who am I to get angry?)

Is she talking about Meera.

“What are you talking about? I barely spoke for 3 minutes to her” I said looking at her.

“Ohh, Really? Because from where I’m sitting, it looked like you two were starting a fan club,” Ruh

Is she somehow jealous?

That’s a new side of her.

Her nose scrunched up in jealousy, and her lips formed a cute pout that made me want to ki—

I slapped myself mentally for thinking like that.

Shut up, Vihaan.

If she knew what you were thinking, she’d bury you six feet under.

“I wasn’t starting a fan club, it’s just she seems funny, unlike you who always seem serious,” I said, trying to tease her, not to laugh.

“Do you think I am not an interesting person,” she asked.

Oh my Ruh, only you have the power to make my world spin.

“Nope, you are wrong, you are the most interesting person without you, my life would be as dull as a book with missing pages” I said, looking straight in her eyes.

She somehow froze in place, her cheeks turning a soft pink as the sunlight directly illuminated her.

One word kept running through my mind.
Enchanting!

“I promise, next time I’ll save the best seat for you, and definitely won’t let anyone take your place, Never!”, I said, smiling.

Ruh smiled back. And this time her cheeks turned into dark red shade. She quickly pulled her book in order to cover her face.

Haaye, she is cute.

I tried to tease her, “Are you blushing?, your cheeks turned red tomato”

To which she turned and looked at me immediately nodded her in no and replied, “I- am…not blushing, it’s because of sunlight”

I laughed and said, “Oh, I know, Ruh. You can’t hide your feelings. As you’ll be sitting with the most , charming, dashing, handsome guy, The Great Vihaan Raichand.”

She laughed and said, “Of course! I wouldn’t want to share my special seat with anyone else”, and started reading her book.

Again that stupid, weird feelings.

I put my hands on my heart to calm that racing heart beat.

What are you doing with me, Ruh?
