Y/n shriveled on her desk with her forehead on the wooden surface. Another wave of pain rolled on in dull throbs that felt on the teetering balance between unbearable and annoying.
Scaramouche woke up a jaw dropping hour earlier than herself and drove himself to work the said morning. Meanwhile, she was greeted with a lovely surprise when she went to the bathroom. Nature is so very fair.

The fact the water in her water bottle was beginning to cool down wasn’t helping either. Her current class looked at each other worriedly at their teacher’s state. Even the whiteboard that was usually a bomb of colours remained blank today. She appreciated the students quieting down.
A sigh escaped her lips as she softly raised her head from the desk. “Hey, can someone to down and fill my bottle up with hot water..?” Y/n called out, expecting one or two kids offering to go down considering everyone was in the middle of the project.

More than half of the class immediately shot their hands up in volunteering, pausing whatever they were doing. Tears nearly welled at her eyes at the sight. Almost a third of the students offered their own water bottles. Although, it would be a bit of a hassle have to give it back to each owner later.

A few girls came back with packages of chocolate from vending machines. They comforted her while she continued to die on the desk.

Scaramouche was suspicious with how silent the class next door was. By this time, obnoxious laughter and objects clanking should be flooding from the closed door by now. Even his class seemed to feel the same way. He eventually shrugged it off and continued to type away at his computer.

There was a sound of the door slamming open and multiple students running out down to the hallway where the bathroom was. The bell hadn’t even rung yet. He was tempted to get up and observe the situation, but concluded that it was a waste of time. It was her business to deal with.

Soon, the bell rung and everyone began to pack their things up. First break went as normal- a few minutes of chaos out in the halls, then silence from everyone being out in the courtyard or somewhere else. Scaramouche closed his eyes and leaned back on his chair. High pitched voices coming from his coworker’s room distracted him from his former tranquillity. It must just be a group of students who didn’t want to go out in the cold weather and used Y/n as a shield to stay in. Pathetic. When he was younger, he climbed mountains and crossed rivers to get to school in rain or sun.

The voices became louder and louder. An irk mark formed on his head.

Meanwhile, the said female was honestly having the time of her life.

The table of students she usually spent lunches and breaks with came in to spoil her with more treats. Yunjin brought more toasty heat packs too. Yanfei, Hu Tao, Jin, Keqing, Yoimiya, and even Ayaka was present. Currently, everyone were crowded on the desks watching baby sensory videos on Youtube. This was a rather fair trade if she admitted. She save these poor children from the cold outside while she got spoilt even more in the blanket and mountain of sweets.

Hu Tao unwrapped another chocolate bar and brought it to the teacher’s lips, which she gladly bit a small chunk off. The brunette was also munching on one herself. Keqing apparently had some medicine on her which helped.. Somewhat? She couldn’t really tell with the video distracting her.

The Liyue representative looked at the time in realization it was about time for the medicine to kick in. “Do you feel any better, ms. L/n?”

“Mmmhm~ Thank so much you guys.”

“We’re just doing our jobs as your favorite students!”

“Hu Tao.”

“What? It’s true.”

Yoimiya laid her head on Ayaka’s lap while also nibbling on chocolate. The Inazuma representative and Yunjin were the only ones who politely refused the snacks, both being mindful of their weight at the moment.

Maybe being a woman isn’t that horrifying.

โ˜†

Being a woman is amazing.

Y/n currently sat on the comfortable office chair that belonged to no one else other than the principal of Inazuma department. Miko was hand feeding her lunch that she skipped because of all the chocolate- was this what heaven felt like?
The pink haired lady had a mischievous smile that almost made her attempt to take back the spoon from her, but decided to stay as she was. Plus, the blanket cocoon she wrapped around the younger teacher in was nearly impossible to unfold from the inside. Ei will save her if she tried anything. At least.. She hoped so.

Chewing on the last scoop of the friend rice, Miko shut her lunch box together before grabbing a napkin nearby. The h/c haired female closed one eye and flinched as her hand reached up to her face. Instead of an impact, something wiped the excess food from her mouth. Blush of embarrassment began crawling up her s/t cheeks.

“How do you feel, any better?”

“Much better, but I could’ve fed myself.”

Yae threw another evil smile at the responce and Y/n was beginning to regret her decisions. Miko then made an expression of realization before turning to her girlfriend. “Oh right, did you hear? The gremlin is planning on moving out.” She nonchalantly announced as she packed away Y/n’s lunch back into the small bag. Ei raised her head from the papers she was signing previously. “To where?”

The pinkette shrugged at the question and sat on Ei’s empty space on her desk. The said woman was sitting nearby with mountainous papers stacked on her desk. Y/n listened in on the conversation with great interest. It wasn’t common for people that age to be living with their guardians, but who was she to judge. Scaramouche probably considered the two more like unpleasant roommates than family anyway.

Ei seemed surprised at the news. They conversed for a while about the topic as Y/n listened and pieces together all the information. Apparently, her coworker was caught by Miko searching for single room apartments nearby when she opened his door to ask him something. (Yae thought he was watching porn after he tried to cover the laptop screen from her) Y/n cringed at the memory of her upstairs neighbor being a professional dancer (who happened to be a penny pincher and didn’t have any noise muffling yoga mats) that caused constant thumpings and music blasting at any time of the day back when she lived in an apartment with her friend.

The violet haired woman sighed as she slid in a book back into its place. “I wonder when he’s planning to do that with inflation going on…” She muttered worriedly. Miko shrugged, but Y/n could tell the difference from her shrugs that showed genuine disinterest. “Oh well. I’m sure that boy will figure it out. He’s a grown man now Ei, don’t fuss so much.”

Maybe the period hormones were getting to her. But nevertheless, her mouth spoke by its own will.

“In that case, maybe he can roommate with me for a while?” She blurted her suggestion. Both women’s eyes turned to her. Finally managing to free herself from the barricade of blanket, Y/n popped her arms out to help make herr point. “I live in a single house alone, having a roommate would be nice for me as well.”

Yae laughed lightly at the thought of her partner’s son packing things and moving away to the next door house. Meanwhile, Ei paused her movements in deep thought. She wholeheartedly trusted her younger coworker to manage with that boy, but it was her own son himself that concerned her.

Y/n looked back and forth between the teachers who were having polar opposite reactions to the suggestion. The house was already bought by her, so renting or explaining to the landlord wouldn’t be a problem. Technically her friend was the previous “landlord,” but she’s not the type to care what she did with that place. Maybe she could split the water and electricity bills with Scaramouche if he ends up moving in.

“We’ll confront him about it. Thank you for the suggestion.” Ei eventually concluded before resuming to her work. Nodding, Y/n leaned back into the chair and hugged the heated water bottle. Giving back all the students’ bottles before the final bell rang was a pain.

At last, Yae finally ceased her laughter before wiping the tears from the corner of her eyes. “Hmhm~ That’ll be an interesting sight. But let me warn you, mr. Raiden will get tiring after a while of having him as a roommate.”

“I’ve seen plenty of interesting living habits in my life, I think nothing will phase me too much anymore.”

โ˜†

“Unlock the door.”

Never in her life had she ever expected to see mr. Raiden willingly call her. Looking into the camera attached by the door, it was indeed Scaramouche standing by the porch. Y/n placed the paintbrush into the water and hurriedly slided to the entrance.

A soft click came from the metal lick as she turned it. The door opened with a slam as Scaramouche entered. He pushed his slippers somewhere onto the shoe rack as if he owned the house. With a million questions circling her thoughts, Y/n looked at the teacher with her head tilted to the side. She decided to not ask questions at his darkened expression. Resuming back to the painting, she didn’t mind the soft thumpings as the unexpected guest made his way to the extra bedroom.

The best assumption was that Ei attempted to have a conversation about him moving out and something happened. Maybe she should text Miko to hear what happened..?

Best to leave him alone for now.

Kunikuzushi buried his face into his hands, running them through his hair multiple times in frustration. Why was that woman beginning to care after all these years??
Just as he was starting to get used to the cold stares and beginning to grow independence, she decided to suddenly interfere in his life now. Might as well as just continue to ignore him- something she was good at until nowadays.

He knew it wasn’t common for adults, especially young men his age to live with their mother unless major financial issues. But he knew better than to let that embarrassment destroy his already shitty life further.

If he was left alone in a house, it would likely become trashed in a couple days. As much as he hated to admit it, Ei’s words had a slight affect on him whenever she lectured him to clean up or take care of himself. Not that he took it to heart, but still better than nothing.
That woman never told him the basic things in life. From how to dry his own hair, picking an outfit out for the day, and shopping for school supplies. Everything had to be done by Kunikuzushi himself with little to no help, the worst part being he had to learn it from scratch. Would you expect an eight year old to go shopping for his school supplies with a credit card and a list in hand? Well, Ei did.

He was fine before. The urge to live up to his mother’s expectations had motivated him until now. But with the will and reason to live was finally gone, there really wasn’t really a reason to live anymore.

Why should he get up from the bed to clean that trash when no one cared anyway? Where was the reason to wake up and eat a meal today? No one outside the secure walls of his house knew, but Kunikuzushi was beginning to evidently neglect himself when alone. Even Ei nagging at him seemed to lost affect recently. It would be stupid to move out now, but he just couldn’t stand being in that house anymore.

Roommates? Don’t even think about it.

A small buzz came from his phone that was thrown onto the side of the bed. The sender id was none other than the female downstairs.

Scaramouche didn’t understand why he barged into her house of all places in his most vulnerable state. Was it because there were no hotels nearby? He has a perfectly fine car with four functioning wheels and a bank account. Maybe because he wanted company? In anyone’s dreams. Because he had no other “friends?”

He didn’t consider her as a friend. Just a coworker who happened to live next doors. -And was friends with his mother. That one time was a reasonable action, Yae locked him out in the middle of the night while he didn’t even have his car keys on himself.

They say a bee always finds its way back home.

Home. Such a foreign word. Scaramouche wouldn’t call the Raiden residence a.. Home. A living space infiltrated by two witches and himself. That’s much more accurate.

He honestly expected a person like his neighbor to have another personality when not in public. Many people keeps a nice persona to swarm others to themself after all. But the fact she didn’t even question a work colleague barging in the middle of late dusk made him even more confused. Was she just painfully naive? Or was there a plan in that seemingly empty head.

Humans aren’t beings to be trusted. He learned this many years ago. Even himself was no exception.

Despite the gratefulness he would never dare to admit, Scaramouche felt annoyed with that woman in general. What was on her mind to just let a random person into her house that she lived alone in, let alone a man? What if they took advantage of the kindness? Wait, why was he even thinking about this. It’s not like he’s worried anyway, it’s just.. It’s just that he’s mad thinking about if it was him in that situation.

Not like he’s getting angry on her behalf.

All while her guest was having a reconsideration in life and choices upstairs- downstairs, Y/n was happily painting a bouquet of flowers she had bought for herself on the way home. If no man was going to get her one, might as well as gift herself on this painful day.
She didn’t pay much attention to the smudges that latches onto the already rolled up sleeves or her hand that was practically drenched in colors. Eyes set solely on the canvas and model, she dipped the tip of the brush on the glossy surface of paint. Most of the petals were not in sync with the real thing, but this isn’t realism class.

Roughly taking measurements with the edge of the wooden brush, she squinted one eye in concentration. She couldn’t help but feel like a professional whenever doing this- oh wait. She is a professional. Nevermind.

It had gotten quiet upstairs. Deciding the progress was good for one day, she placed the palette in a ziplock bag to keep the paint fresh for the next couple of days. The brushes were washed, supplies cleaned up, hands washed, and clothes dirty. Now time for the final task of the day. Dealing with that adult teenager.

Making sure to make obvious noise when ascending the stairs, she turned right to see the currently occupied room. Nothing was worse than jumping because of a sudden presence out your door. Y/n gently knocked on the entrance.

“Scaramouche?” She quietly called out. No answer came, but that was expected. Taking a seat by the small space of wall next to the door, she leaned her head back. “I know it’s cheesy and all, but wana talk? Knock on the wall if you want me to be quiet.” With that, a hesitant tap came from behind the door. Also expected. “Knock again if I should leave you be.”

This time, nothing came. Kunikuzushi raised his knuckle up to the wall, but hestitated. His mind screamed at the female behind the door to leave him alone. (Despite this being her house) But.. He didn’t understand what he was feeling.

No mocks or sounds of held back laughter came from outside. The silence wasn’t as choking as he assumed it would be, but rather comfortable.

For the first time in a while, he finally remembered how people found comfort in another person’s presence.

What was this feeling.. It felt as if something wanted to burst inside of him, his chest tightening. At the same time- it wasn’t exactly unpleasant. Y/n didn’t say anything or even shuffled, but just sat there. The two were only a single door apart, but felt like a million worlds away.

The sun had officially dissapeared into the horizon and the moon began rising to the inky sky. It almost seemed someone splattered glittery white paint all over a black canvas with a bigger dot in the center. Her back was starting to get sore.

With a sigh, Y/n stood up. “I’ll be downstairs, text me if there’s any problem.” As the voice called out from the other side of the door, his eyes widened. Immediately standing up from his place, Kunikuzushi instinctively twisted and slammed the door open. Y/n swished her head back and stared at him. The two just stood there like that, the pale moonlight from the guest room’s window outlining their figures. He instantly regretted it the moment his hand touched the doorknob, but it was too late to turn back his actions now.

“..Nevermind.” Just as he was about to creak the entrance shut, another hand gently held it open. When he raised his eyes to meet hers, he almost choked.

With a gentle smile laced across her expression, she waved softly with the other hand. “Good night!” After a moment, he closed the door. No one but him heard the two words that he whispered so quietly to the point he just said it in his mind.

“You too…”
