Managing through the first day wasn’t as bad as Y/n imagined it to be. The students absolutely adored her- most just remembered her as the candy teacher.
After school club activities were going on, after most students exited the building. Using this as a golden excuse, she checked the surroundings before getting ready to flee. Blame it onto the neighboring class teacher. Grabbing a box of mixed chocolates impulsively bought beforehand, she hurriedly grabbed the keys and took off.

“Hey! You guys want sweets?”

The girls in the gym who was on water break cheered and ran over, their coach looking rather confused. She recognized a few within the crowd of new faces, who came over and greeted her. “Yo โ€”it’s the candy teacher Itto bragged about!”

It seemed like a girls basketball practice, multiple heavy orange balls rolling around the polished floor. Thanking her, the girls politely grabbed a piece before jogging back to the benches. “Ah, you’re the newbie, right?”
The coach had brown hair tied up in a high ponytail and hot pink eyes. She smiled and wiped the sweat from her forehead. Her single black eyepatch stood out.

“Mhm, I’m Y/n. I’m the art teacher in Inazuma room 205.” The moment she spoke the room number, the taller coach cringed. Coming over, she fished out a coffee crisp. “The one beside 206? Man, I’m down on my knees praying for ya'” Peeling off the wrapper, she shoved it into her pocket. “The devil in charge is that class is scary. Oh yeah, I’m Beidou Crux. The pe teacher of Liyue depart.”

“Nice to meet you! If that devil comes in..” She crooned her neck back before giving a cheeky grin. “I was never here.”

Dashing off, she took random turns and twists through the unfamiliar hallways. She wasn’t sure if it was her imagination or not, but she occasionally saw flashes of dark blue in the corner of her eyes right before she turned around a corner. This felt like a scene off a cheap horror movie..

Hearing a roar of laughter from a room nearby, she sighed in relief and knocked on the door before creaking it open. “Hey guys, sorry for the disruption. Want candy?”

The group of around ten students paused for a minute, before a few braver ones shyed towards her Smiling brightly at them, you introduced yourself. “I’m ms. L/n, the new art teacher. What club is this?” “Oh, this is just a homework club. I’m Lumine from Mondstadt.”
A blonde haired girl with matching golden eyes smiled back casually. “I’m Amber! The one in a braid is Aether, green hair is Collei……” Amber introduced everyone else and their departments. Recognizing some, the teacher waved and listened to the brunette for some time. After a solid 10 minutes, she grew concerned about the whereabouts of a certain someone and began to grab her things. Well, she would preferably be anywhere than where she currently was supposed to be at the moment.

“Welp, nice to meet you kiddos.. If the room 206 teacher barges in looking for me, I was never here.” Gently twisting the door open, Y/n roamed the halls once more looking for people infested rooms to hunt down. This school was just as huge as she remembered it to be. Expected from a building with seven different departments and thousands of students. The thought made her even more dizzy.

Suddenly, her face squished into something… Very soft. A little too soft.

“Ms. L/n?” A feminine voice called out questiongly. The principal of Inazuma, the infamous mother of Raiden Scaramouche was standing in front of her. She was scary enough at the teacher’s lounge earlier today, the younger teacher even hid between Lisa and Miko back then.. She ended up freezing like a deer caught in headlights once more.

“Erm…” Nervously peeling her eyes off the ground, she offered the box towards the principal’s direction. “Candy?”

Ei’s eyes sparkled for a split moment. She gave a firm nod and took out something random from the box. Suddenly, she didn’t seem so intimidating anymore. “I’m L/n! I remember the interview, it’s nice to see you again.”
“Raiden Ei. Pleasure to meet you.”
Turns out Ei had an enormous sweet tooth. It surprised Y/n to find out all it took to befriend the scariest woman she met in all her life was a piece of chocolate. The two chatted on about a new dessert cafe nearby before the younger teacher went on her way. Strangely, she felt like she forgot to tell her something. Must be a gut feeling- she had a rather busy day after all.

Much more relaxed and feeling happy, Y/n hummed softly and took her time through the halls of the boundary between Inazuma and Liyue departments. It was around 4:30, the bell rang more than an hour ago since the school officially ended at 3. Majority of clubs also finished up and went home, excluding a few sports practices going on. The noon sunlight poured in through the windows that lined the hallways, tainting the gray walls yellow and orange.

She lazily put one foot in front of another, sure that mr. Raiden forgot about the whole ordeal by now. If it was her, she definitely would’ve thanked whoever decorated her room as nicely as that. And for free, too?! Now, what a deal is that.

Scaramouche sat patiently at his desk since 3:50. He always expected people to arrive at least ten minutes prior to schedule, but many seemed to have trouble following such expectations. 50 minutes ago, he knocked at the next door and reminded the teacher. Giving him a thumbs up, she just continued wiping the boards down. Instead of instructions and examples, it was mostly filled with doodles the students were allowed to make once they were finished with their work.

Ten more minutes passed by, and still no sight of that woman. Sighed, a ticked off Raiden stood up from his seat when his watch read 4:02. He waited two whole minutes, that was more than enough. Upon reaching her doors, he found it locked with a single yellow sticky note.

Out of room atm! Call the office if it’s urgent (โ€ขแด—โ€ข)

-Ms. L/n’

It took all his might to not tear apart the stupid note into pieces and discard it into a trash nearby. Scaramouche sighed. So she wanted to play?

Who was he to decline.

“Ms. L/n.” As the said teacher turned around with a smile, her face turned pale. Scaramouche calmly walked towards her direction with a deadpan expression. He was dressed in a white dress shirt with a black and gray sweater vest, along with plain black pants. Undeniably, he looked rather attractive with the golden light from the windows acting like paid actors.. Not the time, Y/n! “M-mr. Raiden! Good afternoon.” A drop of cold sweat dribbled down her neck as she instinctively took a step back. The male teacher’s grin twitched as he took slow steps towards her.

“Afternoon indeed.” He greeted back. She glanced behind her figure. The corner was not five steps away, if she could make it there… “Oh my, look at the time. It’s almost time for me to to home.” Y/n waved while trying to hold back her shivering. What was she doing, she was a grown adult… “I’ll see you tomorrow!”

She turned around and ran probably the fastest since she graduated university when she ran day to day after being ten minutes late to lectures. Not looking back to see his reaction, she turned a few corners and travelled through a set of stairs while nearly tripping down halfway. There wasn’t any sounds of footsteps behind her, and no one to watch the comedic sight. So why did it feel like….

“Where are you going, ms. L/n?” A familiar voice called out just as she was about to turn the last corner before taking a breath. “I do hope you’re not too busy. We haven’t had our tea yet.” He smiled again, tilting his head. His dark bangs casted a terrifying shadow over his upper face.

“AHHHHHHHH-“

“L/n? What’s wrong.” Ei came out of an elevator that tinged open nearby. So that’s where Scaramouche came off. The said teacher tensed and looked away upon her arrival. “I saw you running through the halls earlier. Is something the matter?”

Y/n nearly cried out of relief and let out a breath. “O-oh, it’s nothing! But I think I better head home now…” She awkwardly waved and quickly began to head the other direction. “Have a nice day~”

Y/n one, Scaramouche zero.

Lucky for her, it was Saturday the next day. Y/n had slept in late due to the sheer amount of sudden excessive exercise her muscles received the night before (jogging around the school for five minutes). Other than the awkward encounter with mr. Raiden, everything was going rather smoothly.

Unlucky for her, new neighbors began to move in the said day. She didn’t get to see any of their faces, but figured they didn’t have many things to move in. Y/n was just glad her previous neighbors who complained about noise each time she turned on music on her mini speaker was now gone to torment another neighbor. Despite being tired, she wanted to greet the new people.

Yawning, she moved into the kitchen and began washing her hands. They hopefully weren’t allergic to common cookie ingredients.

Another yell came from over the walls of the single house, along with a few bangings. Admittedly, living alone in a single house did often sometimes feel lonely. But hey, there’s more room to paint.
Shaking her head, she concentrated on pouring the icky mixture into the baking tray. Slapping it into the oven, all that was left to do was wait for a while. As Y/n scrolled through her phone, she sweatdropped as she heard the door slam shut in her next door. These weren’t even townhouses, but she could hear them pretty clearly.

She sighed softly and stared at the oven clock and brushed her fingers through her hair.

“Someone’s at the door.”

Shufflings soon came from inside after she had pressed on the doorbell with a tupperware of cookies. A bob of pink hair soon peeked out from the opening door as the two stared at each other in shock. “Y/n?” Yae questioned with a surprised look. “Oh, Miko! I didn’t know you were moving here.” She responded with a smile. Another figure soon showed up near the woman. Was that… “It’s nice seeing you again.”

“Ms. Raiden- you two live with each other?” The younger teacher questioned in disbelief. She soon covered her mouth and gave an apologetic look. “Ah, sorry if I’m poking my nose around.” Miko soon chuckled and shook her head as she accepted the tupperware. “Don’t worry, it’s normal to be curious. We’re actually dating at the moment~” She nudged the purple haired female with a teasing grin. Y/n nodded and got a small peek of the mess of boxes and random objects going on inside.

“Would you guys like any help? I’m completely free today, I’d love to give a hand in anything.” She offered. Ei looked like she was about to refuse politely, then soon thought for a moment. “As much as we hate to bother you.. Some extra help would be greatly appreciated. Come in.” She opened the door further to let her new neighbor in. Yae was in a plain white shirt with a few necklaces, while Ei was in a black top with a purple jacket. The h/c haired woman had to hold her mouth to ask them for pictures to use as her muses later on.

The new house was around Y/n’s. There were boxes and balls of scrunched up boxing tape everywhere. As she admired the simple but pretty interior, a third figure soon came from upstairs. The two soon met eyes.

“What are you doing here?”

He interrogated with a raised eyebrow. Oh my god… A black compression shirt and sweatpants, the sweat rolling off his forehead as he took a swing out of his plastic water bottle-

“Oh, Scaramouche. Guess who’s our new neighbor?” Yae waved to him sarcastically. He simply turned his heels before making an expression a mix between disbelief and disgust. Laughing at his reaction, Y/n took the smaller box from Ei’s hands and began moving to the kitchen. The other Raiden seemed to be setting the second floor up by the thumping sounds coming from there. The three began to put the furnitures back together and unpacked dishes. It was around 11 am by the time Y/n left her house, and past 4 o’clock when most boxes were unpacked.

She wasn’t one to judge โ€” but wasn’t mr. Raiden in his mid twenties at least..? Well, everyone has their stories to share, and it wasn’t her place to nose into the matter.

Slumping down on the chair, the art teacher took a exhale of breath. This was probably the most workout she’d done in the past five years or so- nevermind, that would’ve been yesterday with mr. Raiden’s game of tag. She visibly cringed from the embarrassing memory and took a chug of water in hopes of draining it down.

“Seems like we’re mostly finished, thank you Y/n. Would you like to stay over for dinner?” Ei walked over to her, taking a seat beside and pulling out her phone. Y/n’s eyes sparkled at the thought of having dinner with someone in a home instead of alone or eating out. But her thoughts soon drifted to the teacher upstairs. He would probably feel uncomfortable with her being here. “Hmm.. I appreciate the offer, but I think it’s best that I go home.”

Just as she was about to get up to bid farewells and leave, she was half pushed back onto the couch. “Awe, don’t worry! We don’t bite, and the food is on Ei.” Y/n sat there and blinked as Yae leaned on the back and smiled. “Well, at least most of us.” That wasn’t very reassuring. Ei made a short phone call to a take out restraunt nearby as Miko and Y/n quietly talked about the furniture arrangements. Just then, a certain teacher came downstairs and tossed two water bottles into the box filled with trash nearby. “You’re still here?” He sighed out.

Yae raised a brow and shot him a warning smirk. “Don’t be rude to our guest. Do we need to help upstairs?” Scaramouche didn’t say anything and headed towards the fridge. “Why don’t you move your own feet and check it out yourself.” The pinkette was about to say something back, before noticing her friend awkwardly sitting between herself and Ei. She muttered something under her breath and eventually headed upstairs to check out the situation.

Ei placed her phone down and peered over to the kitchen. Her son was grabbing an energy drink from the fridge and snatched a bag of chips that was placed in the cabinet. “We’re having dinner soon, don’t have them yet.” She spoke carefully, constantly glancing over to him. He once again ignored the comment and shut the cabinet door.

“Tch, since when were you the one to care anyway….”

Like that, he stormed upstairs. The older woman sighed out in exasperation while massaging the bridge of her nose. Come to think of it, Y/n wondered how old her son even was if he was still living with her. But she decided to not pry the question. They could be having financial difficulties or health conditions, it would be rude to comment on the matter since she just met them a few days ago. “Sorry about that, we’re not on the best terms at the moment.” Ei soon apologized.

The younger teacher shook her head and placed a hand on her senior’s shoulder with a cheery smile. “No worries. Hey, I’ve taught teenagers for an entire day now. They get over their puberty eventually.” She winked softly and placed her other hand on her hip. Her coworker soon cracked a tiny smile.
